“Great service with the best atmosphere and delicious food. The food was great, you need to sometimes ask them what they are but staff explains everything well. If you go there, make sure you don't miss the desserts they are the best. A unique style restaurant on the high-end side of the city. You will need to make a reservation to avoid the line during peak hours.“
“Every dish we had was beautifully prepared and fresh. We splurged on the “chirashi royale” with uni add-on to share and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. If I came back I’d probably even just order that alone for myself! The portions are small but quality is “
“Very good atmosphere and whole experience was like a food show! I hesitated a bit before when I saw the price ($300+ pp) but as it got Michelin certified I still want to give it a try. I love how the girls wearing Japanese clothes and great you with very comforting manner. The decoration was also making feel like entered a Japanese theater. All the chef work fast and they accommodated my allergy. Definitely recommend for your special night, they played piano for a birthday girl, I believe it would be a memorable experience.“
“Not only are the dishes here really delicious (especially the omelette, which is off menu and which is extremely flavorful with the cream sauce and shaved truffle), but the dimly lit jazzy vibe here is conducive to taking a step back, relaxing, and focusing on conversations with fellow diners. This is a great restaurant that is a must-visit for Vancouver lovers of Asian cuisine!“
“My friend brought us over for a quick lunch on this Saturday. We ordered the sushi and sashimi bento box sets and at $24 they were reasonably priced. Delicious food items although the miso soup was a bit too salty for me. Plenty of hot tea was offered.“
“Delicious food, wonderful cocktails, and great service.A bit on the pricey side, but there's a good reason for it. We tried 7-8 dishes, and many (too many?) Cocktails and were never disappointed. The service was on point. Not Michelin star level but very attentive and customer service oriented. A new favourite for sure.“
“The creamy truffle udon with seafood was soooo good???. We got a side of rice after to soak up all of the extra truffle sauce and it was killer. They also had some pretty creative specialty sushi rolls that you won’t find at any other restaurant and they were yummy too!“
“This cozy restaurant can be described as perfect for minimalists who appreciate detailed flavours and want a healthy night out. There's no need to write a lengthy review because all the 5-star reviews are genuine! Plus, they serve one of my favourite teas, brown rice tea! The young ladies who served us were super sweet, and I adore them!“
“This is a super special place that hits close to home. Although the service is ok sometimes hit or miss, they have one of the best miso soups in the city. It is very authentic japanese style food and OMYGAHD the miso soup. I can’t stop talking about the miso soup. Its too good. I’ve been here twice for a birthday and its adorable that they print out a picture for you and design it. One of the best places to try authentic japanese tastes!“
“Great food and great service. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon to try this Rilakuma Omu rice. Very tasty, the curry was mild and sweet which I like. The egg was a little over cooked for an Omu rice but still delicious. It’s only available weds and thurs so you’ll have to make sure you come those days!“
“Fantastic sushi spot with fresh, flavorful selections. The chefs really know their craft, creating both traditional and innovative rolls. Service is quick and friendly, making dining here a pleasant experience. Great ambiance for any occasion. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!“
“We came for a friend's birthday, I got fried chicken and I didn't enjoy it, I needed to ask for some sauce, cause it didn't come with anything but It was really oil. The rest of the good everyone said that the food was amazing. The drinks were strong, the sangria had a bad taste like a super sour. Probably I'll be back but definitely I will try other dishes, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing, if you want to celebrate your birthday this is the place.“
“I’ve eaten here enough to say there’s no bad item on the menu!last call is at 8pm—tried the negitoro, spicy salmon, chopped scallop rolls and toro & salmon nigiri. all very fresh and the toro was the best thing I tried that night. service is super nice! would definitely go again and recommendwait can get a bit long, but totally worth it“
“I've had this place on my list to try for the longest time but there was always a lineup outside. Finally had the opportunity and went just after they opened with a group of 4. It was packed and we sat at the counter which was totally fine. Service is very good and they are quick. You're really coming here for the fresh sushi. Prices are quite reasonable and the fish was great and of course very fresh. I'd recommend it. Because the service is so quick they also do expect to turn around the tables quickly. The food was so good I forgot to take a photo. But I did get one of the cup ?.“
“I had the udon with beef brisket and egg swirls. The udon texture and taste was great, but the beef brisket's strong flavour over powered it.Next time I will order the tempura wakame udon for the clear broth.I also ordered the salmon roe inari sushi, unfortunately the inari bean curd skin was too sweet and over powered the salmon roe.“
“A small cozy restaurant with a variety of Korean and Japanese cuisine. They constantly update their menu. The service was warm and welcoming from the start with complimentary miso soup. They have a few dine in promotions worth checking out. My favorite dish was the Bossam and appetizer sashimi (tuna and farmed salmon). The tempura is fried well. For reference we had RSVP for 4 at 6pm on a Sunday. Free street parking nearby for 1-2 hours“
“Very impressed with the meals. We got Katsu Box, veg gyoza and Vancouver Roll. It was very delicious and also great value for money. We will definitely be back. The staff are also very friendly. Large mealsVegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available.“
“Everything was excellent except that 1 guy who was at the front talking to me in the beginning, his attitude was just ridiculous and he had no facial expression nor was he polite. If it wasn't because of the other 2 ladies who were talking to me and was apolozing on his behalf I would've left.“
“Sushi Howe is small but the people are extremely friendly and the sushi is exceptional. I live close and they always greet me by name and make the sushi quickly. Try the Salmon Combo C and Spicy Crunch Roll. Also the deep fried Burning Sun roll is another favourite.“
“The bento box was really delicious and the quality of the fish is very good, definitely worth the price. The packaging and presentation of the delivery boxes are particularly great and appear to be of high quality. For me it's one of the best to order, unfortunately I haven't been there yet, but I'll do so soon. ?“
“not terribly busy and reasonably tasty food, lots of options for everyone. aburi, sashimi are both pretty decent if nothing special. tons of rolls which are generously sized. anyone who thinks this place is too expensive is simply wrong - find me 3 other places in metro vancouver with a similar priced menu that isn't bottom of the barrel quality.“
“Delicious Sushi’sThank you Chris for the chefs special menu and your recommendations. We got the bestest ones and enjoyed them till the last bite.Fresh and extremely flavourful. And very reasonably priced. Good portions & great deals! One of the bestest sushi’s I’ve had in Vancouver.Highly recommended to try this place for a wholesome experience!“
“Love the organic selections and gluten free options. Fresh and delicious food ? I would highly recommend this restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is right off Broadway, at street level and there’s enough room between tables to accommodate a wheelchair ♿️“
“A cozy place that has friendly staff/good service and delicious food. I love Japanese Curry and this was my first time having chicken cutlet curry. Really nice homey flavour. The chicken was made perfectly not too dry nor undercooked. The salad was a nice compliment to the richness of main dish. Highly suggest giving this place a try :) will be back!“
“Best and the freshest sushi I've ever eaten and I make sure I tell it to the chef everytime I visit. The prices are just a cherry on top. Find me a sashimi salad like this for $13.50 in all of Vancouver with current inflation. Before the current wave of inflation it was $12.50.“
“I tried this place a few times over the years and I usually get their Roll Combo or the Spicy Tuna Don. Sushi is very fresh tasting with good flavour. While the food itself is delicious it's the staff that keeps me coming back! Whether I'm eating in or just ordering take out, the staff at Kaide always make me feel welcomed and appreciated.Truly some of the best service I have received here in Yaletown, and would recommend it to anyone looking for some warmth and kindness in what's often regarded as a cold and isolating city.“
“?IT WAS GUUD TO SEE YOU?Recently revisited @guu_izakaya and was reminded of why this place will forever have a special place in my heart. The ambience, the service, and best of all—the food. Has never failed to satisfy my craving for Japanese food. I was first introduce to Guu when an ex of mine brought me to @guu_with_garlic years ago. And ever since that day this Izakaya has held a special place in my heart.Their menu varies by location but you can be sure to find tons of Japanese izakaya classics like chicken karaage, sashimi, and a variety of appetizers.I always order the tonkatsu with egg over rice if I go during lunch time. And their Unagi egg over rice is also *chefs kisses* genuinely the perfect spot for a casual date night or quick lunch.Have you guys tried any of Guu’s chain of restaurants yet?*this post was not sponsored or gifted but please feel free to feed me @guu_izakaya *⭐️8.5/10??♀️10/10?$$ (aprox. $30-50/person)?Guu Izakaya | 838 Thurlow St, Vancouver“
“Don't often write reviews, but this place is worthy of one! The food is excellent, I've brought or sent many people here, and everyone talks about how much they love it! Haven't had a single order not be amazing, they're batting a thousand! And for high quality sushi, the prices are very reasonable. And if that wasn't enough of a reason eat here, the people who run the place are very friendly and welcoming!Highly recommend!“
“Great food! One of the best sushi places in the neighbourhood and we have tried many of them. I gather they’re under new management and after being a bit disappointed eating here a year ago it has definitely levelled up since. We will be back 100%!“
“This is a restaurant that I only want to know. I visited many times because it was close to my home, and I was satisfied with every visit. Salmon oshi and pork cutlet are the best. It was also great to have a late night sake or beer with my friend. You should definitely visit here!“
“Love this place, such a gem in a corporate-chain area of town. The food is incredibly consistent, high quality, great price. The service is super warm and friendly. The lady who runs this place is worth her weight in gold. I’ve been coming here for years and glad it survived the pandemic - it’s a great as ever. Best breakfast in the city as far as I’m concerned, unless you want to pay $25 for eggs at yolks or some other chain.Kid-friendliness: Great for kids!Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheel chair friendly. Lots of space between tables. Too much in fact.“
“This was my first time having omakase. It was a great experience. The sushi and all the other dishes tasted excellent, and the menu had a lot of variety to it. The place has a very cozy feel to it, with only a few tables. We came at the last reservation time slot before close, and we basically had the place to ourselves. The server was very nice and on top of everything the whole time.“
“My partner brought me here for my bday surprise and it was a beautiful surprise! We had the omakaze experience with the owner and chef Tom and I believe his wife. He was very sweet and so incredibly passionate about his creations. Every sauce, dish, is all his own creation and hand made from scratch. I also appreciate an introduction to every dish. Every dish was incredible and service was top notch. Highly recommend coming here for an omakaze experience with Tom.“
“We indulged in a variety of dishes at Miso Taco, including the Kimchi Nacho Fries with Chicken Karaage, Tuna Tataco, and Brilla Dilla with Ramen. The portions were generous and satisfying, offering great value for the price. We ended up taking some leftovers home as we couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The fusion of Japanese and Mexican flavors was executed perfectly. Travis, our server, was attentive and friendly. The restaurant tends to get quite busy, especially during happy hour, so I'd recommend making a reservation. We will definitely be returning for more!“
“What a find!! Nestled amongst a thick patch of non-descript West Broadway concrete buildings with a heavy scent of Japanese curry thick on the air, is this true gem of a Japanese restaurant! I could tell from the clientele and the staff running the joint that I was in for a treat. The service was very warm and friendly and hospitable, and the dishes were very flavourful, colorful, and unique. Take for example the sushi donut! You got to try it for yourself.“
“Happened to drive past this place while driving on Hastings, and was drawn in by the wooden sign and logo, so me and my partner made a note to try it out some time and it did not disappoint!Inside it has very warm vibes, kind of bringing me back to some of the places I have visited in Japan, the menu is small and concise, easy to decide on what to get.I ordered the pork bowl which had one of the most tender pork I have ever eaten, and my partner ordered the vegan bowl which was very sizable and well seasoned.I would highly recommend for an afternoon snack as they have coffees and teas with cute sweets or a light lunch with their tasty bowls.“
“At ShinZenYa, dining is like starring in a foodie blockbuster on Hornby Street in Vancouver, BC. The Miso soup broth was so light it must've taken a yoga class, giving the vegetables their time to shine like veggie celebrities in my mouth. Umami hit me like a flavor ninja, especially that onion – so cravable, it's the rockstar of the broth. Now, the Gomai dance – not just a saucy blob on top, but an integrated performance. The spinach pirouetted with a bright flavor, blanched to perfection and refusing to get all Chewbacca in my mouth.Enter the Sakura roll – a delectable movie, not just a roll. The salmon kicks off the scene with a rich, fatty profile, followed by the creamy duo of crab and avocado, then a spicy tuna explosion that's more intense than a plot twist. And oh, the cucumber? It's doing a crisp, refreshing tap dance in my mouth. Brown rice plays the supporting role, adding an earthy note – a grounding experience that shouts, "This is a nourishing meal, not just sushi roulette!"And applause to the kitchen crew – their intentionality deserves an Oscar. They're like food architects, constantly looking for ways to serve or prepare for the next guest. Forget Michelin stars; ShinZenYa deserves a red carpet for making dining a blockbuster experience.Parking: Small amount of street parking but plenty of parking at the courthouse across the street.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of options for the kiddosWheelchair accessibility: Easy access from the sidewalk“
“I friggin love this place. I come here twice a week as im nearby. Never know when it will be open and makes it that much better when it is. It has the wildest hours I've ever seen and it makes me want it so much more. I get the chicken katsu and usually a diet coke. I'm not necessarily on a diet but I figure it's better than a regular coke. So much sugar in the nirmal ones so I just do diet. They don't have coke zero otherwise I would probably just do that. For now diet is fine I guess. If I really wanted to I could prob just go next door and get the coke zero but I want the coke with the meal so can't blame me.“
“My husband and I came for the okamase set. The food was delicious and the service was great. We enjoyed each of the set and added an additional uni sampler to our dinner. We would want to come back again for the wonderful dinning experience.“
“A sushi place you could easily miss located between Wicks Cafe and Cafe De L'Orangerie in a complex that has pretty tight and few parking spots. The interior is clean and has several tables for indoor dining. When we came at lunch on the weekend, the place filled up quickly. The have an extensive menu. At first, you think they only do Poke bowls, but they actually do everything a Japanese restaurant normally serves. We settled for ordering their bento sets. Taste wise I liked the Aburi Chasiu and the sushi rice was nicely flavored. Their rice bowls were good tasting, large size and filling. On the other hand, the sashimi that came with the bento boxes were thick cut like you would get at a value sushi places; and the tuna sashimi was chewy/stringy. I wouldn't get sashimi here if it was on its own. The kids liked the California Roll, pretty standard. And I liked the Chopped Scallop Roll, pretty standard. These were included in our bentos. 10% off if you pay by Cash.“
“We have ordered from here several times and have always been happy with the quality and service. We placed a large order for a work event tonight and were once again thoroughly impressed. The fish is fresh, prices are reasonable and the food is reliably good. We will be back again and again!“
“Took my wife here for our anniversary. It was such a wonderful evening. Chef masayoshi and team elegantly created a eventful date night for us. Service was attentive and the staff ensured our glasses and tea cups were always full. It was a quiet ambience and i really enjoyed watching chef create each dish one by one. Truly enjoyed the sake pairing and I recommend it to all. Cant wait to come back again. Please do try to get a seat at the sushi bar, its quite worth the full experience.“
“This is my go-to location for sushi in Vancouver. The staff here are super super nice and the service is fantastic. The sushi is consistently delicious; my favourite is the double crunch roll, I’d highly recommend it. Very affordable for the amount you get and great quality!“
“It was my first visit to a japanese restaurant in cananda, and it was an amazing experience. Despite having visited numerous restaurants in vancouver , none compared to the quality i experienecd here. We ordered kaiseki bento, oyster motoyaki, salmon steak and they were so fabulous ? every ingredient was remarkably fresh ✨?I am eager to return , perhaps with new friends , and highly recommend this restaurant to others. And the view from here is very beautiful ? the service from every staff member was exceptionally kind, making it the best dining experience i’ve ever had ? this place has truly won me over ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️“
“consistently good food and very reasonably priced. It's not meant to be fancy - but the servers and kitchen are always friendly and pleasant. Their online ordering system is very efficient and easy. A reliable neighbourhood go-to place.Note, they are now closed Mondays - not sure whether it's just seasonal or for good.“
“Alright Mori here! This place is pretty good for a quick bite to eat. I was here just a few days ago with a friend. At first it was quite busy and didn’t look like there was a place to sit but it was worth the 5 minute wait. The staff here are incredibly kind and helpful to you when you walk in. They offer a good variety of food and alcohol too if you feel like it. I definitely recommend the lunch sets but let me warn you it really does fill you up!!“
“Great atmosphere and engaging staff. The menu offerings are as diverse as they are traditionally executed. Was very impressed with not only the pricing but the quality! Will be returning a lot! Especially when they have Uni in and quails eggs for the Ikura, Tobiko, Kani, and you guessed it the Uni!“
“Recently stopped by for a quick meal and I was pleasantly surprised how delicious the chicken teriyaki dish was. The gyozas and dipping sauce were a nice add on. Definitely recommend!Vegetarian options: Fresh tofu vegetarian teriyaki rice or noodle dish“
“Probably one of the best sashimi/sushi places in Vancouver. Value for money (ranging from $30-100) and highly recommended! Great services. The Uni-Don (rice bowl) is insane! ?Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free option for those in need! Pretty rare for an Asian restaurant.“
“I had a great experience here! The customer service was very nice, and everyone within the restaurant made us feel welcome.Tasty cocktail with light amount of sweetness which was just perfect.Every dish was fabulous and delicious. My personal favorite among the dishes was the kimchi tomatoes. It was so interesting for us to notice the flow of dishes and how a new one would be ready by the time we finished the first one.I would recommend a reservation in advance to grab a table, but if you are okay with waiting a bit and potentially sitting by the bar, a reservation would not be necessary.Thank you Kingyo for such memorable experience.Arigato gozaimasu!“
