About Japanese Bistro Kamome

Japanese Bistro Kamome is a cozy eatery located in the Joyce-Collingwood neighborhood, offering traditional Japanese dishes with a modern twist. Their menu features a range of options, including Onigiri, Udon, Soba, Donburi bowls, and unique "Japanini" rice sandwiches. The Tempura Udon and Onigiri are highly recommended, with generous fillings inside the rice balls. The bistro is known for its authentic Japanese homemade foods, prepared freshly in the kitchen. While the kitchen is often run by one lady, which may lead to longer wait times, the commitment to quality and authenticity remains strong. Dishes are reasonably priced compared to other Japanese restaurants, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The space is quite limited, but the interior is very nice, clean, and cozy. Many customers appreciate the home-cooked flavor and tasty seasoning, often describing the food as feeling like a homemade meal. Daily specials add variety to the menu, making each visit unique. The bistro also promotes an eco-friendly approach by encouraging customers to bring their reusable containers. Notably, they accept only cash or debit card. Customers often recommend the food here, highlighting the delicious Onigiri and Non Fried Karaage Chicken Don Rice Bowl. The wait time can be long, but it’s understandable since everything is handmade in front of customers by a lovely lady. For a refreshing drink, the Yuzu soda is highly praised and hard to find elsewhere. Overall, Japanese Bistro Kamome offers a delightful and authentic Japanese dining experience in a charming atmosphere.

I absolutely love this place. Amazing chef and it is just iconic and simple
Amazing food, with high quality ingredients and a friendly staff. We tried the beef rice bowl, crispy shrimp tempura donburi, and a (very) fresh spicy salmon avocado onigiri. We just wish the portions were bigger just because everything was so tasty!
Did not expect much from this place, went here because it is close to where we live. But we left truly blown-away. I ordered saba fish bbq plate and my husband ordered hamachi bento set.

Every meal including the sides are very simple, homey, but cooked just perfect. Every ingredients feels fresh, and perfectly-seasoned (even the salad!). We couldn’t help but cleaned up our plates. We’ll be back for sure!
