“The food is here amazing and so delicious! Genuinely. Best Chinese food in West Van and possibly North Van. The waiters are so nice! Really great spot. I will go many times more. Just look at the pictures…the food tastes even better in real life. Don’t forget, you have to preorder the chicken dish. So juicy and flavorful.“

“Since a boy I have spent 67 years travelling the globe, and this is the best Chinese food I have had, not exotic as I found in China and Hong Kong, but original, well made and exceptionally good. Great service and nice people!“
“Had a cosy Tuesday dinner here and certainly a hidden gem in the neighbourhood.
The atmosphere was great, staff very helpful. We ordered Breaded Lemon Chicken 檸檬雞 and Dry pot Pork Intestine 干鍋肥腸. The lemon chicken was delicious and authentic, really appreciate using bread crumb for the deep-fry to make it more crunchy and less greasy. The dry pot pork intestine was simply lovely - crispy outside and soft inside. Seasoning was perfect. Shoutout to the veggies in the pot bringing balance of freshness and flavour. Both me and my girlfriend had never tried such crispiness to this dish in Hong Kong or elsewhere - this is the best one we had by far. We had two small bowls of rice as it would be a waste not to eat them with rice.“

“We have lunched and dinned here for decades, through changes and renovations.
The service attained and maintained a consistent level of efficiency and courtesy for the last 2 decades.
We enjoy the dim sums which are always delicate, light but flavourful.
For dinner, some spectacular dishes require pre-orders. We always enjoyed the braised duck on a bed of savoury mixed mushroom (forgot the proper name of the dish), and many more.“

“Delicious Beijing roasted duck - probably the best I had in Vancouver. The skin is crispy and the meat is still juicy. You can tell that this is freshly prepared and with skill. The first course presents the duck cut in 2 different styles - skin only and skin with meat. I like both and I like the variety even more. 2nd course is served minced to accompany lettuce wrap.
I love the Tuesday promotional price too. Place is packed and everyone was ordering the duck.
I felt such joy eating this delicacy!“

“their noodles are known for their springy texture and their rich broth or sauce, giving them a distinctly Northern Chinese character and a very satisfying bite. The overall style leans toward bold seasoning and hearty, home-style flavors, with cumin, meat aroma, and the handmade noodle texture standing out; it’s a good fit for diners who like dishes with personality and depth. The must-try dishes include roujiamo, hand-pulled noodles, and pan-fried dumplings, which best represent the restaurant’s flavors. price is reasonable“

“I was introduced to this place through my friend. I was skeptical at first to try it, but man oh man it was delicious.
I had the beef noodles and it hit the spot, it was cooked very well and the broth was spot on. What I loved more about it was the owner who runs the place. He was so warm and welcoming.
I highly would recommend this place if you want the food to hit the spot and not cause damage to your pocket !“

“Yes! They’re open 7 days/week noon-730pm (Posted Google hours are incorrect).
Owner is so kind and the food is very fresh and flavorful. It’s also a bonus you don’t feel like you’re being ripped off. There’s something charming about being in a dated mall with tons of natural light as you enjoy your meal.
Will be returning regularly.“

“Overall experience here was great! The food was super fresh, customer service was on point as expected and the atmosphere was incredibly lively. There’s so much happening here which can get a bit overwhelming, especially with all of the clashing sounds. You’ve got the main music, birthday celebrations with tambourines and the hand pulled noodle guy that walks around with his own speaker! On top of that, it’s also incredibly busy. The only thing that genuinely made my table uncomfortable was the noodle guy. He came to our table and hit our friend in the face and head with the noodle multiple times. At first it was funny, but as it kept going we got increasingly more uncomfortable. He hit all 3 of us in the faces and the entire experience made us feel really weird. Other than that, everything else was great. The waiting area is super spacious and they have lots to do to keep you distracted and busy while you wait!“

“Tried the beef siu mai and the preserved mustard greens pork noodle soup:both were delicious! The beef siu mai was flavorful and juicy, and the noodles were comforting and well-seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive as well. Overall a great dining experience, and I would definitely come back.“

“This restaurant is a must try if you have a craving for western Chinese food! The flavours are good, portion sizes are even better, and the added discount if you place a pick-up order by phone is a sweet extra bonus. I'd highly recommend.“

“Found a gem at Broadway. Introduced to this Chinese restaurant as I was in the vicinity and their food quality was impressive. Ordered their famous dumpling soup and prawn toast. Their char siew are tasty too.
Chef’s Choice Seafood Restaurant is a solid choice for classic Cantonese dining and it is easy to see why it has earned recognition in the Michelin Guide. We ordered several dim sum dishes, along with the soya sauce chicken and deep-fried pigeon. The dim sum was well executed, with fresh ingredients and traditional flavours. The soya sauce chicken was tender, juicy, and nicely seasoned without being overly salty. The highlight was the deep-fried pigeon, featuring crispy skin and succulent meat with plenty of flavour. Service was efficient despite the busy atmosphere, making it a satisfying meal for both locals and visitors.“

“Very nice unassuming restaurant. They have just a simple noodles only menu and they execute very well. We had the chicken noodle soup and dry beef shank noodles. Highly recommended. The chicken soup broth has a home-made taste. Not too salty so it’s the type of broth you tend to finish rather than leaving it behind. I would come back again

“I had an incredible meal here recently. The quality of the food was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly.
I particularly loved how fresh the vegetables looked in all of our plates. The combination of broccoli and vibrant red peppers in the noodle dishes was a highlight. You can really tell they care about the ingredients they use. I will definitely be back again soon.“

“Great mom & pop spot for tasty Chinese food. Simple dishes done very well and cheap. Owners are very nice and offered more rice as I was eating. They even offered me an orange at the end of my meal. I had to decline both as I was full. I ordered the black pepper chicken. Support local!“

“Was excited to try but the food was just okay. But it may have a lot to do with the fact that I spent many years in Asia so the bar is high. Staff are nice. They don't take cash but they do accept US dollars so not a problem for an American tourist.“

“The food was super awesome! Our waitress was really nice, and service was always fast. All of the dishes were fresh, and we ordered the scrambled eggs and beef, fried rice, lobster and noodles, a seafood dish and the beef soup. My daughter ate most of the lobster, and she said it was really delicious. We really think this is a very good restaurant!“

“I had an amazing dining experience at this Chinese restaurant! The dishes were bursting with authentic flavors, and the variety on the menu was impressive. The dumplings were perfectly crafted, and the kung pao chicken had just the right balance of spice and savoriness. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more!“

“This is a hidden gem on Fraser St that my mom’s friend recommended. I like that the food isn’t too oily or salty which is common in many restaurants. I recommend the beef rolls. A tip: unless you like sweet hoisin sauce, request to have it removed from the rolls or to reduce the sauce as there’s a lot of it inside. I also liked the soup noodles with lamb and vegetables. It is refreshing although it may be mild in taste but that is what I prefer. I did wish they put more cabbage and vegetables in it.
The menu has a wide variety of mostly northern Chinese dishes. Don’t expect much decor here as the menu prices reflect that.
Also, remember to have a debit card or cash with you. They don’t accept credit card.“

“If I could give Happy Lamb Vancouver 10 stars, I honestly would. The value here is unbeatable—the portions, the quality, and the overall experience are worth every dollar. The restaurant is spotless every time I visit, and you can tell they take real pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable. On top of that, the staff are incredible: friendly, attentive, and always willing to help without ever feeling rushed. It’s rare to find a place that nails great food, great service, and great atmosphere all at once, but this one does it perfectly“

“I am so impressed with their lunch specials! My fave was the green beans and beef with the hot and sour soup. Usually with lunch specials at restaurants the soup is small with scant things in it but their soup was LOADED with stuff (including a few little shrimp). The whole meal (with tea!) is just 13.95!! I don't know if they can continue to afford such a good deal for long so I plan to try and enjoy it as much as possible:). Also went there with a a few colleagues for family style and delicious.“

“Love the design and atmosphere of restaurant, before ordering the staff was incredibly nice and gave me some recommendation. I tried the meal for two which taste great overall and very flavorful with all the different kind of meat. But the beef and lamb is blended a little which I would recommend just getting single flavor if you mind other flavors, definitely recommend trying“

“I used to go there a few times per week between 2016-2020 when they were nearby Yaletown, I always ordered beef fried rice to the point that the owners will ask me if I wanted the usual. I was sad to know that the owner injured his hand after years of chopping and cooking, and he was going to take a well deserved break. Very happy to know that they reopened! I have moved out from Vancouver but will definitely go back if I visit Vancouver again.“

“My husband brought me here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He was recommended to come by a friend and we were glad we came.
The owner was so nice and had messaged my husband with recommendations of dishes to try (some of which were not on the menu).
All his dishes were amazing and so delicious. As he is the only chef, dishes took a while to come out but we did not mind the wait at all. The server was nice and tended to us when we needed anything.
It was definitely worth our trip to downtown for this restaurant. Highly recommended!!“

“I came here for the first time recently and I'm already wanting to come back. The food was everything I wanted from a Chinese comfort meal. Everything was clearly handmade and the flavours and textures were all delicious. The cut wok fried noodles with cumin lamb were a highlight. Our server was also really attentive, helpful, and friendly. The only critique I'd give is that I wish the pork and chive dumplings were bigger but I know some people who prefer small dumplings, so maybe that's personal preference haha.“

“Decent service. I ordered the dan dan noodles and salt and pepper chicken. The chicken was really good - juicy on the inside and not dry at all. The dan dan noodles came in a big portion, but I had to add some chili oil to make it spicier. The restaurant was a bit dark inside.“

“Fell into this place by accident while visiting Vancouver. So glad we did. Wonder to see the noodles made. cumin lamb was out of this world as was the scallion pancake. “One of the most underrated Hong Kong spots in town. They serve genuinely authentic dishes — flavorful stir-fries and comforting congee — that are simply delicious. The warm welcome from the staff (and the owner) makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! You definitely don’t want to miss the wonton and congee :)“

“Definitely the comfort food for my Chinese stomach! Congee and noodles are their signature dishes, but they also serve seafood as well! Friendly staff and family-style ambience. We came here for lunch, so it’s not very busy. They have opened for 28 years, and so many loyal customers have become friends with staff.
The seafood congee is smooth and savory; and their beef brisket noodles is also impressive. The beef is cooked to the exact tenderness! All other dishes are delicious. Such a good place to go if I'm longing for something soothing :)“

“This is our go to whenever we have small or big family gatherings. Fortune City has a good variety of Chinese dishes, ranging from soups, noodles, rice, vegetables and protein!
The dishes do have the “wok hei” which is something im always looking for when I try out a new restaurant. They have been consistent with their food quality and service. The reason why I gave it a lower score on the atmosphere is the restaurant is quite dated and the interior hasn’t really changed for many years. The bathrooms, especially for the men’s, can be cleaned and maintained a bit better. The chairs and tables are fine, but at times the seats have big stains or tears. Again, nothing to do with the food but does affect the overall rating!
Their dinner sets are pretty good if you have a big group. The noise can get quite loud but expected especially during peak dinner hours or on the weekends. My recommendation is to book ahead of time and reserve a table. Dim sum is also good here, though the only drawback again is sometimes when it is busy, even when you have reserved a table, you might get put on a wait list still. There aren’t too many good spots in Vancouver left like this place, I would recommend it overall to anyone, both new to Chinese food or have been looking for anther place to add to their go-to list!“

“The lady who helped us was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. We were greeted with a cup of green tea, which was a very thoughtful touch. She patiently answered all of our questions and helped us choose our dishes from the menu.
The restaurant itself isn’t luxurious, but it has a warm and cozy atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable. The only suggestion I have is to add photos of the dishes to the menu, as it would make choosing much easier, especially for first-time visitors.
The food was absolutely delicious, and what really stood out was that every dish stayed hot until the very last bite. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of both the food and the service. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place.“

“Cantonese Style Grouper Set Dinner was generously portioned and delicious 😋 a solid option for authentic cuisine family style at reasonable price a strong contender in Kerrisdale. Their prices are fair, especially considering the quality and serving sizes
I must note when ordering take out for congee and noodles this location always well-packaged. Staff was polite and efficient always. Food not greasy and has been fresh everytime with some live seafood seasonal options in a small tank.
Dim sum not fancy just well-balanced and light. Establishment is always bright and clean, a pleasant sit-in with good floorplan, welcoming to bring in your whole family and very accessible even when busy. Many options to satisfy cravings.
Parking is limited in the area, there is a mix of paid street parking and parkade off Yew Street if lucky you get a spot for 2 hours free.“

“Came here 1st time due to the reviews vs the typical ave 3.4 to 3.9 rated Chinese food places in general.
My wife and I were Not disappointed. The steamed dumplings were piping hot, fresh, well made w balanced flavours in the fillings. The dimpling sizes were decent portions. We found the flavors clean and not over cooked nor oily. The rice rolls & beef brisket were hot and savory flavourful. Thats a combo that’s easy to get wrong, like arriving warm vs hot & less savory sauce with more fat or more oil coating everything, but not here..it was delish!
Now remember, all you picky nerdy asian foodie experts , so quick to judge & shred a business do to perceived imperfections, off brand from your check list standards that the real world can rarely match ….to ones perfection requirements & more importantly….the feeling of power one derives from control one’s world through criticisms to feel like an ‘ expert’.
…nothing is ever perfect to so called ‘experts’
so don’t take my 3x 5 stars as to the Gods truth to perfection. Those higher marks are relative to and proportional to the sea of unkept, bland/ oily mediocrity that can exist in the Chinese Asian world where staff are routinely under paid, under appreciated and required to work longer & harder than most, just pay bills & to put food on the family table irregardless of poorer quality, poorer management, little profit and large debts loads endemic in the restaurant industry.
They must still endure & march on, irregardless of what I choose to criticize!
So it’s nice to see a clean bright operation where staff are pleasant & helpful, where portions are good, the flavors are clean, and the quality is high for the costs paid.
So well done Good Choice!
And if they should slip here or there for unforeseen things, provided its not a physical health safety issue, try to resist wanting to blowing things up as people need to earn a living and survive another day. Be more gracious rather than less, is a better way to exist thru these trying world times as every little bit of encouragement helps, thank you very much 👍🙏“
