“Since a boy I have spent 67 years travelling the globe, and this is the best Chinese food I have had, not exotic as I found in China and Hong Kong, but original, well made and exceptionally good. Great service and nice people!“

“I am deeply conflicted writing this review because the food at Loong’s is an absolute S-tier culinary experience that I secretly want to keep to myself.
Run by a resilient father-and-son duo, this West Vancouver hidden gem started a year ago with handwritten cardboard menus and Home Depot chairs that still had price tags on them.
Revisiting a year later, the charming, no-frills setup remains exactly the same, but the dining room is now completely packed with guests.
The food quality is phenomenal, and watching this family successfully build their dream out of a scrappy beginning makes it an unforgettable, must-visit spot.“
“Lovely experience with this restaurant. The food was amazing, especially the pecking duck. It was not only very favorable but very juicy. The service was also amazing and very friendly. The atmosphere is what you cleft from a family Asian restaurant with the drawing hung on the walls being made by their kids(they are great drawings)! Anyways, great place and would come again.“

“This is your “must go place” for authentic hot pot experience. We celebrated my husband’s birthday there today.
Food is so tasty with so many choices of soup bases. Spicy flavour tomato flavour are highly recommended. Beef quality is the best. We ordered 12 dishes of meat for four adults. Free ice cream is provided as well.
Service cannot be better. They have had the table decorated for us with happy birthday signs. Can you believe that the server even helped us to peel shrimp shells! My baby is only one year old and he was fussy sometimes. Different servers came with different types of toys to make him happy.
On our way back home, I got a call from Jessie that she apologized for not singing a happy birthday song for my husband. She even dropped a whole package of birthday gifts to our house with our permission.
I can never forget this best service I have ever had.“

“Came for the Tuesday night Peking Duck special. All the food was excellent, as usual. Service was prompt, and pacing was great. Quality of ingredients was top notch in all the dishes.
If you park in the orange area of the parking garage and give them your license plate and stall number when you check in, you get free parking too!“

“Quite the authentic Thai food on one of our last days during World Cup. Saw their hotel directory, and we totally for the hotel concierge offering 10% off for the Grand Park hotel guests but didn't matter, as compared to back home, pretty good value and enjoyed the atmosphere..
Friendly service, topped up our waters without even asking.“

“I went there today for the first time and it really hit the spot. Probably the best one I had in a long time. The reviews are real!lol
The dumplings and noodle, both are so so good!! It was a rainy day and it looked a bit slow but I am for sure going there again when I come back in Vancouver later this year.
I could’ve eaten the whole another plate of the dumplings for sure if I had more time.
Loved the restaurant.“

“their noodles are known for their springy texture and their rich broth or sauce, giving them a distinctly Northern Chinese character and a very satisfying bite. The overall style leans toward bold seasoning and hearty, home-style flavors, with cumin, meat aroma, and the handmade noodle texture standing out; it’s a good fit for diners who like dishes with personality and depth. The must-try dishes include roujiamo, hand-pulled noodles, and pan-fried dumplings, which best represent the restaurant’s flavors. price is reasonable“

“The traditional dim sum dishes were very mediocre, some of their more unique dishes were better. I definitely won’t be back for their dim sum though.
However, I did see their classic Cantonese dinner menu and that looks great. I would return to try their dinner.“

“Lovely homemade - wrappers seemed like they were made from whole wheat, so a great healthy option!
We got the pork with green peppers and the pork with kimchi (spicy). Both were pretty amazing. They also had lots of vegan options. 7.99$ for 6 so great deal
This place is inside Robson public market. There’s no branding on the street, but do not miss it! The building management is trying to close these places down, so they need your support! Also, this place has so many awards! Really amazing. Will be back!“

“Had a great experience at Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Vancouver. The soup base was rich and flavorful, and the meat and vegetables were fresh. The lamb was especially good, with great texture and no strong gamey taste. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable for eating with friends or family. Portions were generous and the price felt reasonable for the quality. Definitely a solid hot pot spot in Vancouver — I’d come back again.“

“Such a unique dining experience! The restaurant has its own charm and character, making the whole visit feel special. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish beautifully presented and full of flavor. On top of that, the service was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. You can really tell the team cares about every detail. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be back!“
“The broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles had a great texture. The portions were generous and there were lots of fresh toppings. Everything came out hot and tasted really comforting. Definitely a great spot for a warm and satisfying meal. Would come back again!“

“The food is great and it's always consistent and can't complain about anything that I've tried.
They always accommodate me when I come right before closing because I live so close and I feel bad. But they take good care of me and I make sure to take care of them.“

“Found a gem at Broadway. Introduced to this Chinese restaurant as I was in the vicinity and their food quality was impressive. Ordered their famous dumpling soup and prawn toast. Their char siew are tasty too.
Chef’s Choice Seafood Restaurant is a solid choice for classic Cantonese dining and it is easy to see why it has earned recognition in the Michelin Guide. We ordered several dim sum dishes, along with the soya sauce chicken and deep-fried pigeon. The dim sum was well executed, with fresh ingredients and traditional flavours. The soya sauce chicken was tender, juicy, and nicely seasoned without being overly salty. The highlight was the deep-fried pigeon, featuring crispy skin and succulent meat with plenty of flavour. Service was efficient despite the busy atmosphere, making it a satisfying meal for both locals and visitors.“

“Best experience in a restaurant in a long time! Walked in and there was a wait. No issues. They worked around and we were seated within 5 minutes. The man who sat us, went over the menu and made suggestions. We followed, but got roasted pork, soy sauce chicken, bbq pork fried rice, and Chinese broccoli. Walked out happy and full. This ended up being our destination in Vancouver. Eating leftovers tonight.“

“The Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs and Sweet and Sour Pork were both outstanding! They stayed true to the classic Cantonese flavors while adding some creative touches in both presentation and taste, making them really memorable and worth trying.
Unlike many Cantonese restaurants that serve great food with little attention to presentation, every dish here was beautifully plated and looked just as impressive as it tasted. It’s clear the chefs put thought into both the flavor and the overall dining experience. Highly recommended!“

“Newtown reminds me of the old day's in Chinatown.
Great food.excellent service.lots of bakery items.great menu.
The big one is they do not except CREDIT CARDS.
There also open at 6:30 am for the early birds like us..very busy at lunch time.
They offer every thing you would want at a bakery with lots of seating..
Keep it up.. 💯
The CONGEE is excellent too.😁“

“I had an amazing dining experience at this Chinese restaurant! The dishes were bursting with authentic flavors, and the variety on the menu was impressive. The dumplings were perfectly crafted, and the kung pao chicken had just the right balance of spice and savoriness. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more!“

“If you ever miss the Vancouver chinese food of the 80s and 90s look no further...this place is AWESOME. I had been meaning to go for years and stopped in for the lunch special. It must have weighed 3 pounds and everything made FRESH to go for 14 bucks. Classic sweet and sour pork with pineapple crunchy and crispy and the sauce was perfect. Ive been looking for a great chinese place like this wondering where they all had gone. Dont sleep on this one....you wont be disappointed.“

“Incredible food!!!! Husband and I enjoyed the premiere Omakase meal and it was unreal and unforgettable! Every bite was delicious but it was so cool to watch the chef prepare each piece of fish. It was quiet and delicate and very clear the care and effort required for this meal. We’re from out of town but this was such a great find and experience for us!!“

“Love the design and atmosphere of restaurant, before ordering the staff was incredibly nice and gave me some recommendation. I tried the meal for two which taste great overall and very flavorful with all the different kind of meat. But the beef and lamb is blended a little which I would recommend just getting single flavor if you mind other flavors, definitely recommend trying“

“First night in Vancouver and this was our first dinner — cannot be happier! We ordered these two dishes, baked rice and fried prawns and it was so flavorful which got me wanting to order more. They were very big portions so we didn’t get to and I wish we were staying in Vancouver longer cause I’d definitely come back. My family is from Hong Kong so I know what’s considered good HK food. The restaurant was empty but don’t let that fool you into thinking the food is not good. The chef, who is the owner, shared that the neighborhood in general has been pretty dead the past year hence the emptiness on a given night but I can say the food is amazing and the service is just as great. The waiter was attentive and so was the chef. He offered other options of making the prawns for us which was nice. He also engaged with us and was super friendly. All in all, great experience, great food and will definitely be coming back here when I visit again!“

“This is by far my favourite spot for noodles in Vancouver, both locations are amazing hidden gems. The quality is incredible, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I especially recommend the French beans and the in-house made cut noodle wok! The staff are so lovely especially the owner Lee! The construction on Broadway has been an absolute nightmare for the business and I know they are struggling to keep the doors open. I will be going there regularly to support them and for the lovely food. There is plenty of parking behind broadway, off of 8th.“

“Food tastes pretty good,
We had hot and sour soup, deep fried wonton steamed rice and chicken with garlic and chilli, this dish had onions, chalets, red peppers and I think a little mushroom.
Over all was good and not to expensive.
My only issue.
The floors in the dining area and bathroom were not so clean.
Dirt collecting in corners , we're floor tiles meet wall tiles, like its never been mopped or cleaned propperly.
Hope they can take care of that cleaning.
It would've been a better experience.“

“Decent service. I ordered the dan dan noodles and salt and pepper chicken. The chicken was really good - juicy on the inside and not dry at all. The dan dan noodles came in a big portion, but I had to add some chili oil to make it spicier. The restaurant was a bit dark inside.“

“This restaurant is small and cozy, with about ten tables, and the prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, the food didn’t meet my expectations. Every dish I ordered tasted extremely light. While I appreciate that they seem to avoid MSG, the flavors were so mild that I found myself hesitating with every bite.
I ordered the fish congee, and the fish arrived as one large piece rather than slices. The congee itself had almost no fish taste at all. What surprised me most is how busy the restaurant was. Perhaps affordability is the main reason people come, but personally, I prefer stronger flavors and better quality.“

“Definitely the comfort food for my Chinese stomach! Congee and noodles are their signature dishes, but they also serve seafood as well! Friendly staff and family-style ambience. We came here for lunch, so it’s not very busy. They have opened for 28 years, and so many loyal customers have become friends with staff.
The seafood congee is smooth and savory; and their beef brisket noodles is also impressive. The beef is cooked to the exact tenderness! All other dishes are delicious. Such a good place to go if I'm longing for something soothing :)“

“One of the most underrated Hong Kong spots in town. They serve genuinely authentic dishes — flavorful stir-fries and comforting congee — that are simply delicious. The warm welcome from the staff (and the owner) makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! You definitely don’t want to miss the wonton and congee :)“

“Not a good experience! We ordered 2 main courses 1 duck 1 chicken The duck dish was half cooked, the toppings around were not tasty at all. The chicken dish came uncooked! We returned the dishes to the waitress immediately, we were shocked that this is the food served. When the bill arrived, The restaurant asked to charge us for both dishes full price, We refused! After a short conversation they said they would give us a 10 percent discount, We also refused! We returned an entire dish to the kitchen and the second dish we barely touched ... in the end we only paid for the drink and the duck dish. Food - very bad, Service - needs improvement, disappointing. 1108 W Pender St, Vancouver, BC“

“I used to go there a few times per week between 2016-2020 when they were nearby Yaletown, I always ordered beef fried rice to the point that the owners will ask me if I wanted the usual. I was sad to know that the owner injured his hand after years of chopping and cooking, and he was going to take a well deserved break. Very happy to know that they reopened! I have moved out from Vancouver but will definitely go back if I visit Vancouver again.“

“me and my boyfriend loved our time here! it was quite busy when we arrived, so we had to wait around 10 minutes for a table, but it was so worth it. the servers were very sweet and polite to us, and the food was incredible. if you will be bothered by the noise of busy marine drive, request to be seated inside (it didnt bother us though!) ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings and the noodle bowl for two, which we couldnt finish! overall amazing experience.“
