I am deeply conflicted writing this review because the food at Loong’s is an absolute S-tier culinary experience that I secretly want to keep to myself.
Run by a resilient father-and-son duo, this West Vancouver hidden gem started a year ago with handwritten cardboard menus and Home Depot chairs that still had price tags on them.

The food is here amazing and so delicious! Genuinely. Best Chinese food in West Van and possibly North Van. The waiters are so nice! Really great spot. I will go many times more. Just look at the pictures…the food tastes even better in real life. Don’t forget, you have to preorder the chicken dish. So juicy and flavorful.
Absolutely 10/10, dining in this restaurant I was almost getting emotional. I came from the same town as the chef and his son and I could tell how well they put their hearts and effort into all the dishes, trying to share the essence of Shunde style cooking and understanding of good ingredients.
Wish them all well and bless diners’ taste buds! We will come back when we visit Vancouver again.

Loong’s Chinese Restaurant serves above average, authentic Cantonese food. The restaurant is a family-operated small space run by a father-and-son team, with a handsome young waiter and his father. It has no connection with the previous Japanese restaurant at this address. The food is expertly prepared, deeply authentic, and absolutely delicious. Every dish is perfectly seasoned, spiced, and cooked with obvious skill. Menu highlights include noodles with XO sauce (chicken subbed for pork), Sweet & Sour Pork, pork belly soup with the best broth and chewy pork, beef brisket noodles, stir fried veggies, and milk custard for dessert (try it hot). The vegetarian options are fire. Don’t come expecting trendy décor, cocktails, or flashy service; this is about the food. The service is simple and efficient. The restaurant might not wow at first glance, but give it a chance. It can get quite busy sometimes, so making a reservation is recommended. For real Cantonese cooking, skip the General Tso’s chicken and chow mein and try Loong’s. It feels like a favourite neighbourhood spot in Guangdong, only in West Vancouver.
