“This is my family's go to spot for get togethers and the food and service is always excellent. We've never had a bad dish and the servers are always so warm and friendly.I wish you were open Sundays but I understand small businesses need a work life balance too!“
“Wonderful experience with the Balkan House team organizing our birthday party for 35+ people. Entertainment group was fabulous, knowing every song we requested, the food was tasty, wine simply perfect. Family style restaurant, relaxing, homy feel. This is not our first experience with the BHR and certainly will not be the last. Thank you!“
“I've been looking for a good shawarma place in Burnaby and this is it. The potatoes and toum would have done it for me. But everything had great flavour. The falafel held up really well. It's clear that they care about making good food. I will be back for sure.“
“This is not your normal restaurant. This is more like a casual hangout cafe. Walked in to order because I couldn't find a menu online. 0rdered the platter for one and sausage, it was more than enough for 2 people. Platter comes with lots of different favorful meats served with rice and grilled veggies. Try it! Call ahead to pickup!“
“Valencia was our server and oh my, did she ever hustle tonight. 16 patrons at 6 tables....and she served everyone with a smile and such efficiency! We were 3 and enjoyed starters , salad and soup then mains and desserts.Valencia made us martinis and an old fashioned like a pro!My husband had the lobster linguini, our friend chose the chicken schnitzel and I had the seafood linguini. All of our meals were fabulous. We had room for dessert and treated ourselves to a lava cake as well as the sundaes include d in our 4 course meal. We"ll head back soon and hopefully Valencia will be our server again! The boss man needs to make sure to give her praise and a raise! Thanks from Sherri, Chris and Ardele.“
“We had a wonderful night, Everything was just perfect. The staff is very polite and friendly and helpful. The dish was very delicious too. It was my first time eating there, but definitely won’t be the last time ???Vegetarian options: We didn’t have vegetarian food.Parking: Parking was available behind the restaurant. There was plenty of free parking space on the street too.“
“So darn good. They make a fresh "loaf" of what I would call naan right in their big oven, which I imagine also makes great pizza. Anyway the bread was amazing.I had a lamb shank which was excellent and my friend had a chicken kebab which was really good. It's almost impossible for me to like white chicken meat but they pulled it off. Really great.“
“We dined here tonight as part of Bite of Burnaby. We both ordered the prix fixe menu and one 3 course wine pairing. If you have never been the Hart House is a lovely, quaint old heritage building (so there is the occasional ant visiting, and the A/C is open window(s) - keep that in mind on a hot non-breezy day). The service was attentive, friendly and excellent (other than a delay of several minutes before the arrival of the dessert wine caught up with the dessert). The meal began with a surprise: a delicious amuse bouche with duck and hummus in a pastry shell. We both had the Caesar salad (after all its the Ides of March LOL). Fresh, mild with caramelized bacon zing. The mains were the Short Rib and Steelhead. I couldn't have been happier with the Short Rib. It makes me want to come back and have it again tomorrow. The Steelhead was also delicious. However, the pickled turnip was inconsistent and clashed terribly with the wine, which otherwise paired beautifully with the Steelhead. So ...use it as a palate cleanser and alternate it and the wine with the main in-between. Worked out well.I had the pair-me-with-pear cocktail and it was a tickle for the tastebuds throughout the meal.We both had the maple creme brulee and it made Canada proud. Fantastic layers of hard vs silk, warm vs cold, sweet vs ...sweeter. Divine.I definitely recommend going during Bite of Burnaby! I would happily go again.Parking: Reasonable number of spots a short walk from the restaurant.“
