Their tomato crab soup was one of the best soup I've ever had. The $10 pho in Happy Hour is also a hot deal for everyday.

The chairs are kinda weird and short though

Love this place! I had the crab tomato soup and it was delish! The mimi crab balls were tender and very flavourful! The Thai Coconut milk tea was not overly sweet! Will definitely come back!

Chao Mami is a hidden gem! The restaurant is always spotless, modern, and welcoming. The food is consistently delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and full of flavor. Customer service is excellent — friendly, fast, and attentive. Prices are very reasonable, and their happy hour deals are amazing (only $10 for a delicious soup!). Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food at a great value.

Good happy hour prices for pho and we got a complimentary ice cream cone in the end of our meal!

All the rice was broken! They did not disappoint. Authentic Vietnamese restaurant.

Update: restaurant rebranded and upped their game! The food is epic!!! One of the top Vietnamese restaurants that should rival others in town!! +1 star in all categories

I’m Vietnamese and really wanted to like this place, especially after seeing all the Instagram hype. I went for lunch with my mom — we got seated quickly but waited over 40 minutes for our phở. No one checked in on us the entire time, and the staff seemed really unorganized. A lot of other tables were just sitting there waiting too.

When the phở finally came, it was a letdown. The broth was bland, my noodles were already soggy, and at $17 a bowl, it definitely wasn’t worth it. They have a $10 happy hour deal, and honestly, that’s the most I’d pay

Nice trendy environment for a pho restaurant. We had 5 people and coming on a weekend for dinner and were quickly seated.

We ordered a special happy hour dish with bao and meat inside. It was tiny but delicious!

Spring rolls were deep fried and super yummy.

Pho was ok and small in size giving there’s only one option for size.

Rice dishes were lacking something though. We had 3 rice dishes with pork chop, chili chicken and short rib respectively. The meat seemed dried and the rice texture is different and I think it’s similar to broken rice if you like that texture. But I personally didn’t enjoy it as much.

Basil lime soda is a must! It’s real good!

Chairs had no backing and as trendy as it looks it’s a bit hard to sit.

Servers were busy and a bit too busy to come check on our table.

So over all I would rate it 3.5 star but rounding up.

I ordered crab noodle but it was so salty. $4 drink tasted so weird and sour( coconut Thai milk tea) & Pandan coffee does not like coffee ?

Have been here 3 times since Brokenrice changed to Chao Mami. We have ordered a variety of different dishes to try upon each visit but each dish has been average. The $10 pho is good value but that’s the best I can say about it.
During our most recent visit, there was an issue with the pipes so the restaurant smelled like sewage. Not the restaurant’s fault but it’s quite off-putting when you are having a meal.

On a final note - I appreciate the aesthetic of the restaurant but the chairs are so impractical. It’s really difficult to hang your jacket on the back of the chair without it falling off onto the ground.

Food and service were good! We ordered their slow drip Viet coffee, spring rolls, house pho and lemongrass chilli chicken. Everything was so tasty, none greasy, and overall comforting. They’re a bit on the pricey side but reasonably so because of the quality of their dishes.

I discovered this restaurant through Instagram, especially since a few well-known foodies have featured it on their pages. Their $10 happy hour pho has drawn a lot of attention, often with people lining up to try it. I’ve always thought it would be a good idea to try their pho for just $10, but I never had the chance until now. This weekend, I happened to be in Burnaby, so I decided to visit.
The restaurant’s walls are quite interesting, adorned with vibrant, colorful paintings of Vietnamese culture and people. When we arrived, there were only a few tables occupied, but the wait for our food was still relatively long. Unlike typical Vietnamese restaurants, there were no sauces on the tables, though they did provide a large pot of tea.
We ordered two of their house special soups: Mami’s ‘Real’ Tomato Crab Noodles and the Can Tho Satay Noodles. The crab noodle soup was delicious—not too oily, with a rich, aromatic broth. The crab and pork meatballs were tender and flavorful. However, I wasn’t a fan of the satay noodles. While the broth had a nice satay flavor, the beef slices were overcooked and a bit dry, which didn’t complement the satay taste at all. I ended up only tasting a bit of the soup and meat and didn’t finish it, which was a bit disappointing overall.
