I showed up at Chef Tony's pretty late as they were just starting to shut down for the night. Most of the other outlets at the food court were already closed but yet staff was very welcoming and happily made sure I got some dinner. They helped me get my order in for what I wanted and made sure they snuck in a few replacements in case they were running short given it was last call. I will remember the kind staff for how they made me feel even though I pretty much came in the last minute - it meant a huge deal since I was hungry and out of options at the food court. Most Asian dining places can be very rude during these hours, from what I have experienced in other places and cities. Food was very good too. I got the sticky rice in lotus leaf and the pork dumplings with mushroom. You know it is good dim sum when the food is light and the weight of the dumpling dough does not weigh you down. Will be happy to be back again and explore the remaining menu.

I grew up in Hong Kong and have had so many dim sum restaurants but this is the first that I've seen that lets you pick one of each item. I've never thought Chef Tony (this shop or their Richmond restaurant) served excellent dim sum, but I appreciated this system where you can try a variety of offerings without going out with a large group. 2 stars for food, but fun experience and good value makes it a 4.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE In the wide spectrum of options of the Metrotown food court, Chef Tony provides a relatively low-cost yet tasty option! === 2. FOOD Dim Sum Combo ($9.50): your choice of white rice, fried rice, or noodles with six pieces of dim sum. The fried rice is pretty good. I'm always one for choice - the dim sum is smaller than what you get in the Chef Tony restaurant but just as tasty! === 3. SERVICE It worked for me in English and I overheard it work well in Mandarin also. There's often a short line of sorts, but it moves fairly quickly. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's as good as it gets in the Metrotown food court - wide, open, and bright. It's good for small and large groups, for wheelchairs and baby strollers. Parking is plentiful in the parkade.

So much hype, so much anticipation, so much money. Tiny morsels, nothing spectacular. Siu mai with truffle tasted like a standard siu mai with no truffle. Sticky rice could've done with more filing. Way too much gummy glutinuous rice to filling ratio. Deep-fried tofu with salt was chewy, shrimp and matsutake dumpling and white egg custard tart is not something you would talk about. The egg tart was soggy. All the talk about quality and you get what you pay for, I totally disagree.

Didn't stay cause selection isn't very good. Wanted to have chicken feet, beef tripe, and spare ribs. Very common dishes but they don't have.

Craved for dimsum while at Metropolis so I decided to try this place. Had the Combo A which is 6 dimsum with noodles. Dimsum are smaller in size but tastes good. Noodles is very good if you add a bit of Soy Sauce. Worth to try.

I came out here because EVERY food influencer has been and I just wanted to fit in! The food was okay, but totally photogenic (minus the yellow lighting in the restaurant). I think my favourite was the Salty Egg Yolk Buns (which are black), but that might just be because I can't remember any of the other items I ate! If you're looking for quality dim sum, this isn't the place. If you want something different, then GO HERE!

Dim sum in a food court? It was definitely better than I expected, but overall it wasn't amazing. Decent and I'd go back if I was craving dim sum without the wait. I haven't tried the actual restaurant yet though.
