The service was terrible. When I paid and left a $10 tip, they said it wasn’t enough and asked me to add another $2.

Huge variety of dim sum, and it gets pretty busy on the regular.

Good dim sum option in Burnaby - fair portion and reasonably priced. Not much of a quality customer service. They were fast with delivery by the food to table, cut things up, no greeting or anything else but still a solid dim sum place.

We had a very disappointing experience at Grand Crystal. The staff repeatedly ignored our requests and seemed completely uninterested in providing basic service. When we brought the issue to the manager’s attention, she showed no concern and responded as if she knew and there was nothing needed to do about the situation. When someone finally did acknowledge us, the response was shockingly rude as if we were a bother with our requests. Looked like they couldn’t handle the stress while serving their customers. Definitely not coming back.

Customer service is poor. When a dish is sold out they leave it off the ordered receipt and give you lip when you ask. I get better service at the food court. Ridiculous!

We came as 2 people during dinner time, standing at the “please wait to be seated” sign at the front as we watched waiter after waiter walk past and ignore us. Had to walk into the restaurant more until finally a man with glasses walked up and nodded in our direction then prepared a table, not saying a word to us. Getting the attention of the waiters to order also took some time, I don’t know if they’re inattentive on purpose, but it’s extremely frustrating to have your hand raised high in the air and still having them walk by as if they don’t see anything. The guy with glasses took our order again, not even bothering to repeat or answer our questions verbally.
The food itself is mediocre and definitely not worth the terrible service you have to go through.

Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant, located in Burnaby’s Crystal Mall, offers a refined Cantonese dining experience with an emphasis on traditional flavours and fresh ingredients. The restaurant features a spacious interior with round banquet-style tables, making it ideal for family gatherings, celebrations, and weekend dim sum outings. Diners are welcomed with carts of freshly prepared dim sum that include popular favourites like har gow (shrimp dumplings), siu mai (pork dumplings), steamed beef balls, and silky rice rolls wrapped around deep-fried Chinese doughnuts.
Beyond dim sum, Grand Crystal serves a wide range of classic Cantonese dishes such as crispy chicken, braised tofu with mushrooms, stir-fried lobster with sticky rice, and sautéed pea tips in garlic. The seafood is notably fresh, often featured in dishes like steamed fish, salt and pepper squid, and seafood hot pots. The staff are attentive and efficient, often recommending dishes and ensuring tea pots are promptly refilled.
With its combination of traditional flavours, comfortable setting, and variety of offerings, Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant remains a popular choice in the Metrotown area for both everyday meals and special occasions. Whether it’s a leisurely dim sum brunch or a full banquet dinner, the experience is consistently satisfying.

First time having dim sum here. We reserved a table of 10 and we maybe waited 5 minutes. Food was quick to arrive when we submitted the order.
Food was great. Value is there. Not overly salty. The shrimp dumplings are the perfect size. The rice wraps are awesome. It's a multi layered style.
The reviews saying the service is bad just isn't true, at least for us. I didn't observe any bad service with the tables around us. We asked for forks and cold water and they brought them right away. They cleared the empty dishes quickly. Refilled our tea and water quickly. No attitude. No bad looks.
Overall, we would return here.

An old man told me that I don't have enough money to tip, I have to give more, I wonder since when there was a rule that when eating out, what percentage is enough to tip?
Good dim sum and Chinese (HK Style) restaurant. You won't ever have a bad time, but it isn't the best dim sum you'll be able to find in Metro Vancouver. Great staple place with reasonable prices and portions.
