Tangsuyuk is my favourite here; meat is tender, and the coating is perfect. The sauce is yummy with fresh fruits and vegetables in it. Consistent in giving good quality food and service.

I got real bad food poisoning from 삼선자장면!
Squid had ammonia smell to it and onions were barely cooked down. I will be reporting it to health officials for this.

As always, I ordered Combo A. The jajangmyeon wasn’t quite as good as I remembered, but the jjamppong was just as excellent as ever.

We ordered the Ra Jo Yuk Gourmet Dish (spicy pork with mixed vegetables), which was not what I meant to order—I had my heart set on the spicy hot and sour version, but hey, at least I tried something new. Alongside that, we got a half seafood noodle and half Ja Jang Mian, plus a stir fried rice.

This is definitely what I would call home style Korean Chinese cooking. If you are used to places like Chiu Hong in Surrey, where flavours are bold, sweet, salty and aggressive in the best way, this is much more gentle. The Ja Jang Mian here is less sweet. The pork sauce has less salt, sugar and ginger. The seafood noodle is also much milder in spice.

At first, my taste buds were like “huh?” expecting more punch. But then my rational side kicked in and said, this is like going to your Korean friend’s house and having their grandma make you a meal. It is warm, balanced and does not leave you chugging water for hours afterward. That is worth something.

As for the banchan—it is very modest. Just yellow daikon and raw onions with hoisin sauce. I could not help but laugh a little. It feels honest, like the kitchen is just saying, “Here’s a little crunch to keep you company.”

So even though the flavours are not as intense as I usually go for, I appreciate the clean and home cooked feel. For that, I am giving it 4 stars. It is a comforting, simple spot that feels like it came from a family kitchen.

The food was all excellent. Even my super picky kid child ate! We have been here several times now and it’s always good.

Delicious. The original and still the best jajang and champong.

I came to this restaurant on a random afternoon, and it's still full. You can tell it's a good place. I would recommend coming with a group of people because their dishes are not offered in small portions.

After some time, I came back again and got some takeout. It was just as delicious as always. It's great to have a restaurant like this in the neighborhood. I hope future construction projects won’t affect this place.

I've been to Hee Rae Deung for over a decade, and it is always reliable and consistent every time I go. They have huge portions and it is always so yummy. The bear-shaped sauce was so cute ♡ The staff were also really friendly. Thank you always 😊

7 years later, I’m back in Canada again. I’m so happy that the restaurant is still operating. The combo is a very good value. The portions are big, and the staff is also friendly. The pickles and onions are refillable. I love the jajangmyeon here, but this time, I feel it is a little bit bland. The soup stands out this time. But overall, this restaurant is still one of my favorites.
