My favorite thing about this place is that it feels like home. Very friendly family owned restaurant that I just can’t stop coming back to whenever I’m in Burnaby.
Everything I’ve tried has been very tasty and satisfying.
Highly recommend!

Ordered the Las Vegas roll for takeout, and their online menu clearly said 8 pieces. When I got home, there were only 6 tiny pieces. I called to ask, and they told me it was a mistake on their website. Seriously??
How is that even acceptable? Feels like false advertising or worse!
Just plain ripping people off, $12 for 6 bite sized pieces? Not cool at all!!

This small, family-run restaurant offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Despite its modest size, the space embraces every guest with genuine hospitality. The menu provides a wide range of options, each prepared with care and delivering the rich flavors you’d expect from a quality Japanese restaurant. Service is impressively quick, making it a convenient spot without compromising on taste. A hidden gem worth visiting for anyone who appreciates great food and a heartfelt dining experience.

I don't usually write poor reviews, and I try to support small businesses as much as I can, but the service we got was so horrible that I had to read the other reviews and saw the same comments. I don't expect servers to go out of their way to be extremely high energy and friendly, but our server seemed like she hated us being there (like someone else said in another review). As a person of colour, I noticed this was definitely different than the brusque and concise service you get at Chinese and Viet restaurants (as I'm used to that and don't mind it at all). She gave us a blank stare when we came in, like we interrupted her and she never said much except for taking our order. It was strange because I noticed she would treat other customers who were people of colour the same, but the only time I saw her be friendly was to a customer who was white!!! I didn't want to point out this discrimination but it was hard not to notice it. It was really disheartening and the food was only okay.
Hope they will have better training for their service instead of making people feel like they are annoying you by coming to your restaurant... I understand its just a job (as a Gen-Z, I empathize extra for the hard work of service workers), but this time it was actually sooo bad I had to write about it on Google LOL.

We’ve been going to this little sushi place for years. I absolutely love their gyoza, the sauce for it is so delicious! The chicken karate has a yummy honey mustard dipping sauce which is also delicious. Great tempura, great spicy pork don! Usually get veggie sushi and always delicious. Quick service and great value. Would recommend for delicious food.

I love Joy Sushi.
I must order from here 4 times a month at least!
The staff is knowledgeable with Vegan options.
I love that I can get the tofu in a soy rap instead of seaweed!
My go to is the mango avocado, the spicy tofu adegeshi (it's fried in the same oil as meat, so depending on your level of vegan, you may want to avoid anything fried). and you have to try the avocado stuffed Inari!

I’ve been here a few times, portions used to be modest, now it shrank a lot! Sushi 🍣 was made very sloppy and small. Better up your game! There are number of sushi joints just up the street.

I’ve dined in, had takeout, and delivery. Never been disappointed. Have taken out of town work colleagues here for an unfussy, yet great sushi - no hesitations to go back.

Restaurantji Recommends
We come here all the time for takeout and dine in. The bentos and combos are awesome! Really nice staff, super responsive to substitutions even with online orders. Great salmon sashimi and all the salmon rolls I’ve tried are fantastic.

The sushi I got was decent. Definitely a step above grocery store sushi, but nothing great to write home about. The cashier was emotionless. Not rude, but could’ve used a smile here and there. Would recommend trying and you might like it, but there’s better places to get sushi in the area.

Will not be back and do not recommend anyone coming here. The sushi did not look or taste fresh at all. I came here with a few friends and none of us could finish it after the first bite. It’s unfortunate
my go-to quick stop for a bite! The service is always fast. My favorite is the yam tempura roll—it’s always delicious! Perfect spot for a quick sushi fix when I’m in a hurry. Highly recommend! 🍣
