Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba - Brentwood

Nov 7, 2024: I had the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba and my partner had the Tokyo Mazesoba. While my food was ok, I enjoyed the Tokyo Mazesoba much more. I think the portions are very generous, especially since it has free up sizing. Also get a small portion of rice after to mix with your leftover sauce. Overall just really great and enjoyable experience.

Great spot for an easy menu at a reasonable price. There is almost always seating available for a big range of group sizes.

However, they need to hire more staff. I’m a regular here and I’ve seen the place both crowded and pretty empty. In both circumstances, there seems to be the same number of floor staff, being 2 to 3 max. This can make service feel extremely slow during busy hours.

Additionally, what prompted me to write this review after all this time is that I showed up today at 9:03 pm with my girlfriend and stood there waiting for a host for just over 10 minutes, despite ringing the bell a few times during the wait. A staff member came by one time to give someone their takeout order and then another staff came by at around the 10 minute mark just to tell us to wait a few more minutes.

Improvements are suggested:

1) Staff should’ve been more attentive to the handful of customers waiting at the lobby (it wasn’t just me and my girlfriend). If the restaurant is too busy to service us at the moment then let us know so we feel acknowledged. We were there for over 10 minutes. Someone should at least stop by quickly and explain the situation. At this time the restaurant was maybe 35% full. Plenty of tables were empty but just not cleaned. Just let us know the situation.

2) I understand that partially a reason for the above is that the place is understaffed. Management should do some hiring.

Good service, drinks refilled without needing to ask. Delicious food, came in a reasonable time. Spicy was not overwhelming, mild spicy and doesn't overpower other flavours.

I was surprised it was lacking a bit of flavour. I am usually very happy. They also changed the menu a bit and of course increased prices. Not sure if there was a change of ownership. Service was great though.

Mentaiko mazesoba was good, like the free upside, kaarage was alright, service is attentive. -1 for the way overcooked chashu, the meat parts were so dry and tough it felt like I was eating jerky

They have updated their ordering system and everything has became extremely slow. It took almost 40 minutes to get our food! And the restaurant was not necessarily busy at all. Everyone was just sitting and waiting for their food.

My favorite ramen restaurant! I love the atmosphere, the prices are reasonable, dining in is super convenient, and the decoration is amazing! Most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious.

Great Japanese restaurant. The portion sizes are huge and the food was pretty tasty (although it was a bit oily and salty). The atmosphere and restaurant style was very unique and the staff were friendly. Good place to eat out with friends or family.
