Sure, the atmosphere isn't the most luxurious, the service can lean to the help-yourself, and the food is good without knocking your socks off: but the value is terrific, and the owner-operator works so hard (often front of house as well as chef) it would be churlish to award anything else.

Makato Sushi is a true hidden gem in Burnaby! It’s a cozy little spot run by the sweetest Japanese couple, and you can truly feel the care and authenticity in everything they do. The man who served us was incredibly kind and welcoming—his warmth made the whole experience even better.
