It’s in a mall and feels stuffy. The food is overly spicy and salty. Didn’t like it.

Delicious food with great portions in a cute little hole in the wall in the mall. Onggi spicy rice cake with cheese is a must try.

Quite disappointed. We got the seafood pancake, which fell apart immediately. It wasn’t fully cooked and was still gooey. Was expecting better for this high price point. We told the server and he said it is supposed to be like that, but he’ll ask the chef. He came back with the seafood pancake still gooey, but it seems like they microwaved it. Didn’t check in again to see how things were either. The pork bulgogi was in such small pieces I felt like we were eating leftovers. Not sure why this place has good reviews. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing

I really like Onggi. Their food is consistently good and my personal favorite is the chaddol doenjang soup, which is super flavorful. Their seafood pancake is also excellent; crispy, generous with fillings, and not too greasy. I tried majority of their menus and are all pretty tasty.

The photo I’m sharing for this review's from my most recent visit, where I had the cold noodle and kimchi pancake. Both solidly good also.

One small cons: their food tends to lean on the sweeter side. For eg the bulgogi ttukbaegi or spicy cold noodle tend to show this sweetness more so it might be a bit hard for those swaying off sugary flavour.

Still, overall, Onggi is a reliable and tasty spot for Korean food.

I had a pleasant experience at Onggi Korean Cuisine 옹기 밴쿠버. The spicy rice cake (tteokbokki) was enjoyable, with chewy rice cakes in a tasty, mildly spicy sauce that I kept coming back to. The Grilled Pork Bulgogi was also good, with tender meat and a nice, savory marinade that went well with the rice. The kimchi stood out as particularly flavorful, with a crisp texture and a balanced tangy-spicy taste that complemented the meal. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Onggi is a solid choice for Korean food in Burnaby, and I’d be happy to return.

My friend and I came across this place randomly, and we had a wonderful time! The food was delicious, and the service was great~ Also appreciate the free yogurt drinks at the end! Will definitely come back to try their other dishes 😋

This place is definitely one of those hidden gems — it’s a cozy spot that’s tucked into the mall, but the food is SO GOOD!

The portion sizes are great, the quality and taste are amazing, and their lunch special Bibimbap is just a mind blowing $10.99. I’m definitely coming back again, and can’t wait to tell my friends about this place too! 🙏

I ordered the weekday lunch specials Bibimbap meal set today. The price $10.99 was unbeatable , and the portion was really big, which also came with three side dishes. I also ordered another egg soup to go along , but was kind of regretful, because I was having such a hard time finishing the bibimbap.It was that big! 😅

The Bibimbap, side dishes and soup were all absolutely delicious and flavorful. And in the end, I clear my bowls because it was that good. The servers were friendly but not too nosey that ask too much to make me feel uncomfortable, which was a bonus for a I type of person (introvert). Will definitely revisit again!

PS: I LOVE how their menu has labelled gluten-free or vegan icons because my son has a gluten-free allergy.❤️

Had a great dinner experience here after stumbling across this restaurant. Staff were all super friendly and attentive. We ordered the gamjatang and it was a massive portion with pork bones piled up high. Side dishes were really tasty and even the edamame was perfectly prepared. Highly recommended and will be returning.

While the food was good and having frequented Onggi many times in the past recommending others to try, I have to say that based on my experience today, it will be my last time at Onggi. You can see from my photo uploaded on their Instagram post 3 weeks ago Dec 9 2024 that the lunch special is $19.75. I invited family members today to Onggi and we ordered 4 lunch boxes to find out at payment that we were charged $24.75 each. When brought up the discrepancy to the staff they apologized and stated it must be price from last year even though they saw on the post it was from 3 weeks ago. They refused to honour the price and still charged us auto gratuity of 18% for larger group.

This is not how to retain and operate a business when you’ve falsely advertised. Disappointing and embarrassing situation for my family and I.

Overall: Good place,good food, but pricy for it's taste. Their food overall taste pretty light, it's a good balance.

Seafood Pancake: Love the big cheiw squid and full of stuffing. But not as crisp. Wouldn't order again for it's taste and price.

Mackerelfish was good. A bit overcook that the fish it's missing it's oil taste, so a bit dry. The soup that comes with it it's usually really spicy, but theirs is based on tomato based with added spices. It's light and more sweet.

GalbiTang soup based is more radish sweet taste than beef bone. Definitely on the lighter side.

Overall a good resturant, but not my perfernece of taste.

It was super easy to find since it’s located right next to Hannam Mart. I came all the way from Richmond to Burnaby just to visit this place.🙂And honestly, it was so worth the trip! Not only were the portions generous, but the food was also beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

The pork bones in the Gamjatang were meaty and tender, and there was just the right amount of 시래기, which I really enjoyed. As for the squid in the hot stone bowl, it seemed like they used fresh squid instead of frozen—it was so soft and incredibly fresh. The seasoning was perfect too!

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.☺️I really hope you open another location in Richmond someday! I’m rooting for your continued success—please open a branch in Richmond soon! 🙏💗
