It’s been a number of years since I last visited Paul’s Sub Shop. This small, non-descript shop located on Imperial Street is next to one of our go-to local pizza places (Bella Pizza).While they have other subs (as well as hamburgers and regular diner fare) on the menu, I generally come here for Paul’s Special sub which is a fully loaded 12″ sub with grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, tomato, rib eye steak, capicolla, and oil/vinegar dressing. At $25, it certainly not the cheapest sub in the world but you’ve really got to try this tasty sub.This sub is definitely a big hot mess and I come back time and again to order it. No seriously, you can’t eat this without getting strings of hot, caramelized onions all over your face. Make sure you have some napkins handy because you’ll need it.Make sure you bring some dolla dolla bills y’all because this place is cash only. I’ve heard some people complain about the elderly lady who runs this place but she’s always seemed pretty kind and friendly to me.Update: Still one of our fav places to grab a hot sub. The owner is still a nice as ever. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a 6" Paul's special sub and she cut them for us since we told her we were sharing. Love the grilled onions. I've got to remember to try their breakfast one day (breakfast menu is located on the side).

What a nice and cozy, vintage-style restaurant! I have always lived in the area but never stopped by this place. The food portions are so generous and taste amazing! Mom is super kindhearted. Food seems overpriced but it’s worth the money. Got the grilled chicken sub/burger. The only downside is that it is CASH ONLY.

A friend of mine told me of this place several months ago but I only got around to it today, a little after it closed as it turned out. The elderly East European woman who runs the place came to the door and said it was okay to order something.I got a 6" ham and turkey sub which she made more like an 8". It was crammed with ham, turkey, cheese, tomatoes and onions and--it made me an instant fan of this place.The woman was kindly and charming and she sure as hell knows how to make a san.As Arnold Schwarzenegger said "I'll be back!"...

I went with the default Paul's special sub. 6",but it was more like 10"lol. The club house is amazing as well, difficult to take a bite, and the bacon... If you have the chance to support a smaller business, look no further than Paul’s Sub shop. Yesterday I had to pick up a sub for a client and had the wonderful privilege of meeting mama, the one woman who operates and owns this establishment. This is no fast food joint. This is good portions and food made with love and care. My client enjoyed the sandwich he had yesterday so much, he insisted I grab another one before he left for his flight this morning. I came in as mammas first customer of the day, and she was so happy to see me back again. Genuinely one of the sweetest experiences I’ve had in a long time. She has got a huge heart and is very passionate about what she does. She reminded me of my own grandmother. Try it out, you will not regret.It’s a one woman show, so don’t come here if you’re in a rush or with a large party. Take a friend or heck, go just yourself and have a great conversation with mamma. Cash only.

Amazing sandwich. The caramelized onions really add a nice richness and sweetness to every sandwich here. Really good ingredients and the size is quite impressive. With just a 6-in sub it is a whole lot of food. I will definitely be back.

The lady that helped us was a nice older woman. This shop is very old school and accepts cash only. The meat portion on our large Italian sub was incredible. We got a 12" and probably could have gone with a 6". There was a lot of meat.

We ordered two breakfasts and a sub. And everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. The coffee was great too. We are now fans for life! If you want to support your local business, which makes old school, good food with no gimmicks, this is your place.The elderly lady who runs the place can come across as curt and rude but she has her rules and just expects people to play by them. Understandable, since it's just her managing the whole place by herself. But once you get past that, she is sweet, warm and funny. She treats you like family and has a joke or a kind word or two always at the ready!(Cash only, as most reviews have already mentioned.)

I absolutely love this place and the food they serve .You can’t go wrong with anything here from there huge breakfast plates with thick cut bacon and texas toast or there fat dog huge sandwiches.First found this place about 11 years ago in 2012 and it’s still the same consistency as ever.Very clean and great friendly atmosphere.The sweet lady that dose the cooking is just amazing. Really enjoy this place and can’t recommend it enough.You definitely won’t be disappointed.One this to note is this is a cash only establishment that dose not take debit or credit but that won’t lessen your opinion in any way once you tase the food .Hope to come back soon.
