Spent a few hours in the Crystal Mall on a Wednesday, and was so disappointed to see that Shanghai Dim Sum was closed for the day, my favorite XLB shop.Oh well, we ate some other delicious things, the standout was the shengjian bao, pan fried pork buns from Shanghai Fortune Cuisine. It was lined up and everyone in the rooms seemed to be eating them.Wow, they were good. Crispy on the bottom, tender on top, full of soup and pork. Delicious. Staff is friendly too!I think I found a new favorite.

I ordered lunch during my work break. I asked if they had vegetarian options. She showed me one and they said they could make it without meat. When I asked how long it will take, the lady at the front said 10 minutes (Order placed at 1:15pm). According to her, she can only remove the meat from the dish and cannot add anything else. There would also be vegetables in it, she said.I received the order at 1:39 (after 25 minutes), asking for at least eight times. As soon as I reached work and opened the box, I found "extremely salty noodles" with hardly any vegetables. For name sake, there were some thin cabbage leaf tips here and there.I made the biggest mistake of the day.Vegetarian options: Don't go for vegetarian food.

It's a perfect XLB soup dumpling, freshly steamed to order. They are juicy with seasoned meaty flavour, a thin skin, and bursting with soup inside. In our opinion, it's better than the Shanghai Dimsum House nearby which is also pretty good. Their tofu soup is also light and nice with boiled dumpling water flavour in a good way. It's not too salty and hydrating with no hint of MSG.

The XLBs here are the closest in terms of flavour of the broth and the skin to meat ratio compared to XLBs in Shanghai. The ones from the Shanghai Dimsum House (long line) are bigger but the soup inside is missing that hint of sweetness and there's too much skin. The sheng jian bao here is not bad but has a different style than the ones in Shanghai. It's more doughy and not as much soup. Still decent though

Fresh made to order. Soup was all in dumpling. No soup got lost.
The bun was so thin! It was piping hot when it came out and the flavor was so good. It was a good cheap eat, though the wait was quite significant for a small order.

Today we did a comparison of xiao long bao (XLBs) from this place and those from Shanghai Dim Sum Cuisine (a few stalls away). Overall these are "classic"-style XLBs--flavor of these are nice, the dough was quite thin and the size makes them easy to eat. We favored these ones over the other ones based mostly on flavor. Service was nice and ordering was easy.

Some cozy and solid Shanghainese place at the Crystal Mall food court. Even though it is cash only, this food place tastes fantastic! We got takeout food, and the food quality is still great despite a long-ish drive home. I highly recommend their rice cakes :)

No atmosphere because it’s a food court.Great food as always. The next best thing to flying back to Asia for delicious food. Price is reasonable with such high inflation. Takes around 10 minutes for soup dumplings. Highly recommend
