A Deeply Disappointing Experience at Sooda Korean BBQ – Brentwood
For Mother’s Day, I ordered food via DoorDash from Sooda Korean BBQ for my 80-year-old mother and aunt. Both women are recently widowed, and my aunt is recovering from cancer. I wanted them to enjoy a warm meal and feel cared for on what is an emotionally difficult day.
Unfortunately, one of the items — the bean sprouts — tasted “off,” and shortly after, my aunt developed foodborne gastroenteritis.

My family came there last February 28, 2022 (Monday) to celebrate the 10th Birthday of my Son. We drove around an hour going there from White Rock without knowing it's not going to be worth it. As mandated nowadays all restaurants required QR code if you are fully vaccinated and so for myself, my husband and for my 14 years old daughter we showed it to the staff. Sooda Korean BBQ offers tasty food, with sushi being a highly recommended favorite. The interior features neon lights that create a cool atmosphere, and the restaurant often has wait times due to its popularity. The staff is friendly and provides fast service, serving dishes like the seafood pancake and chicken, which many customers enjoy. The seafood pancake can be a bit greasy, but overall, the food is flavorful and well-prepared. The restaurant also offers good side dishes and a not overly spicy kimchi. The Sooda fries are especially popular with kids. Located in a less upscale area compared to their Gastown branch, it still provides a flavorful dining experience with similar menu options. Free parking is available, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible with limited seating. Portions are large and great for sharing; some dishes like the Hapnam set and deep fried mandus are enough for three people. While the meat is cooked for you, some customers find it awkward and prefer to cook it themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the washrooms are surprisingly clean and well maintained. Overall, Sooda Korean BBQ offers a fun and tasty experience for friends and family alike.
