My new fav spot for sushi! It’s so cozy inside and the staff are some of the friendliest I’ve met. I got a takeout tray and everything was very fresh and high quality.

Not worth the money. I had the Chirashi don Deluxe, which is $45 (before tax). The tuna was Albacore instead of Yellowfin, the salmon was thick, fatty and farmed instead of nice lean wild sockeye and the other varieties of sashimi were very basic and tasted a little fishy.

I understand times are tough economically and prices have gone up, but for that price I expect better. I left very unsatisfied and will not return to this place. There are many better options out there.

Wow, what a hidden gem in Burnaby - Sushi Bar Kilala is a cozy, authentic Japanese restaurant. I visited recently because of all the positive reviews and got a small to-go order. I can't wait to return to Kilala! Sushi was fresh, Sushi rice had the perfect texture and seasoning and the staff were very polite. 5 stars!

This has always been my favorite small Japanese restaurant in Vancouver. It's run by a Japanese couple. The menu looks huge, but they actually focus on some special dishes that can be mastered.

Most people may order his sushi combo plate, but don’t miss out on all his side dishes, especially his handling of sauces is very good, such as seafood salad, or cold noodles, sweet and sour. The treatment with vinegar and lemon will make you very moved

Of course, the cutting of all sashimi is of a very high standard. It’s not like the average feed restaurants in Vancouver that are all operated by Chinese. This couple is really cute and the prices are very reasonable.

Such a lovely hole in the wall authentic Japanese Sushi place? LOVED the Saba battera and unagi roll and the Kilala combo was good value too :) The smoked salmon and creamcheese roll was a nice twist too! We couldn't try out the uni nigiri and the negitoro that we wanted because they were sold out but will definitely make another visit☺️

This is an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in North Burnaby run by Japanese people. This is my new go to sushi place since Kazu closed down. If you're looking for Korean sushi , please don't go there. The sushi is very traditional and good. Thanks Kilala :-)

Been awhile since we’ve been back to Sushi Bar Kilala. Great quality and still run by the same Japanese couple.

Grabbed takeout on a busy Saturday. Made our own party tray; unatama ($7.25), negi saba shiso ($7.25), dynamite ($6.25), negitoro ($5.25), negihama ($5.25), California ($5.25), umeshiso ($4.25) and kanpyo ($4.00). Also ordered salmon sashimi ($21.75), saba battera ($15.50) and chicken udon ($11.50).

Sushi was fresh and satisfying. Favourites were the negitoro and unatama. Saba roll/pressed sushi were also fantastic.

A tiny and subtle Japanese sushi restaurant along East Hastings offering mostly sushi, sashimi and party tray options. It was a pleasant dinning experience with slightly above average food, given the price is also reasonable, until some loud people came in. Unfortunately the table settings are so close and our ears were suffering from the ambient noise made by inconsiderate people.

Kilala offers super fresh sushi at reasonable prices. Eat in is nothing fancy and service is very polite reminiscent of my time in Japan. There is maybe 2 parking spots available in a very tight awkward underground parking (best to find street parking). The japanese creme caramel is a must try if they have it available.

Sushi Bar Kilala has a reputation for being a hidden gem in Burnaby. They are known for serving high quality, authentic sushi at affordable prices. There's not a lot of cooked food on the menu, and there are those who skip over the cooked food altogether as it's the nigiri sushi and sashimi that truly shine at this restaurant.I didn't actually try any of the fish on this visit as I opted to go vegetarian, but my friend was with me and she ordered several rolls with raw fish in them. The rolls were very impressive looking, not overly packed with rice and the fish was very fresh. For myself, I ordered one Avocado Nigiri, one Inari Nigiri and an Avonegi roll. The avocado filling was generous which I always like to see, and beautifully colored. There's nothing so frustrating as seeing avocado that has started to turn black and lose its beautiful green color. What really impressed me was the Avonegi roll. Before I became Pescatarian, for many years I used to love ordering Negitoro rolls when I went to Japanese restaurant. It's tuna belly with green onion. The Avonegi was an avocado roll with green onion. It may sound like a very simple roll, but I have never seen Avonegi roll offered anywhere else. I was elated to see this item on the menu and even more so to discover how much I enjoyed eating it. With the Avonegi roll, I really don't miss my negitoro roll anymore and now I wish that every Japanese restaurant would put an Avonegi roll on their menu!Service: Good
