What I ordered: Chicken Don ($12) The Lougheed area is well-known for its plethora of Korean cuisine, but there are also a handful of delicious Japanese restaurants as well. This little gem of a restaurant is tucked in a corner beside Red Robin. It's a quiet restaurant decorated with cherry blossoms all over. I got the Chicken Don and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Karaage Don. Our food came within minutes - we were served our dons that came with a heaping portion of rice, chicken/chicken karaage. Underneath my chicken was a generous portion of bean sprouts as well. The chicken was tender, saucy but not overly salty. There was a very equal rice to chicken ratio so you could enjoy both without worrying you might run out of chicken first. For $12, this was quite a deal in my opinion. I've come here with my colleagues before so I knew that the atmosphere was quite relaxed. Sushi Gen is a great place to enjoy good value food in a nice, quiet environment.

This place has the best sushi I've ever had in the Lower Mainland. The service is also amazing. Their Kanisake Tempura is to die for and their Dragon Roll, Caterpillar Roll and Burning Love Roll are all beautifullly served and delicious to boot. I have not had anything here that I've been disappointed by. Instead, they always exceed my expectations. There's also always tables available despite how good the food is. Come here time and again.
