As a customer: I ordered a spicy salmon roll. It tasted very fresh and the spicy sauce was hot sauce instead of a mayo which was very good.
As a courier: orders consistently packaged well and promptly. Friendly service.

Ordered take out. Fish is not fresh and seems dry. Rolls were sloppy. Not recommended.

Food was great, but service was questionable.
I've been to Sushi Toki a few times previously, and service was always great. (It was always this cherry, youngish man with glasses.) But this time, a different person served me (a middle-aged lady) and it was one of the most bizarre dining experiences I've ever had.
First, she asked my partner and me if we knew what to order within 2 minutes of sitting us down. We said no, we needed some more time. She asked us again literally 30 seconds later, and again a minute or so later. The restaurant closed at 9pm, we were sat at 8:06pm, so I understand she wanted us to hurry up a bit, but asking us 3 times for our order within the span of 5 minutes was a little bit ... extreme.
Secondly, when she came to give us our food, she began to place my order in front of my partner. No worries about that, I understand it's difficult to keep track of each person's order, but when I indicated to her it was my order, she still continued placing my order down in front of him? And then I had to awkwardly reach over and grab my food?
After we finished our food, I went to the washroom before leaving. Whilst I was in there, the server told my partner that they were closing ... did they not see that we had finished our meal??? Evidently we were going to leave soon.
This entire meal felt like they were trying their best to shoo us out the door asap. I feel I ought to add that we were cognizant of the time the entire time, and were out of the door by 8:50pm -- 10 minutes before they closed. And there were still three customers inside who were not being shooed away?
Like I said. Really bizarre.
Food is great for the price though; there's a hefty portion of the filling and not a lot of rice to beef it up, which is great. So you do get a bang for your buck. Maybe I'd get take-out next time just to avoid the weirdness lol.
If I were to rate this place on this visit alone, I'd give a 1/5 for service, but I want to acknowledge the excellent service I previously received, so I'm settling with a 3/5.

Terrible, they don’t even try and on top of that is extremely expensive
I don't care too much for sushi but their other options are excellent as well, particularly their tofu is quite nicely prepared so I usually get that over the meat dons but those are good too

The food may be fine, not even that good but the biggest issue with the restaurant is the owner's service and attitude. From other reviews, it seems like this is a common experience and the owner is frankly very rude and mean and has no empathy for customers.

Had Roll Combo A ($15.95) for lunch. Adequate size and price for a meal. The rolls were just standard - California roll, dynamite roll, and BC roll. The imitation crab wasn't very sweet in the California roll, and I felt that the salmon skin in the BC roll was more burnt than grilled in taste. It had more of an ashy aftertaste (a bit more palatable with the sauce included).
If I had to rate separately, I'd do 3/5 for food, but the service elevated my rating to a 4. The lady server was kept busy but did check in on our meal, and offered to refill our tea (without us asking). Very friendly. Easy to get to the restaurant, as it's a couple minutes walk from the Metrotown skytrain and bus loop.
The server was friendly but not overwhelming, and the food came quickly. The atmosphere is not bad either. I'll come back again sometime to try other types of food.

I ordered on uber eats but i humbly asked if i can have it in the restaurant, he refused me straight up and didn’t even smile when I walked in. I think they’re racist towards other race, which I feel should not be a case with any restaurant. As canada has diverse communities, everyone should be treated equally in a restaurant. Well, the lady was very nice although the man kept making faces and even yelled at a server. Can really work on that!
