This post is long overdue. I have been coming here for over a decade and for good reason. $28 gets you an assorted sashimi plate. The mega sushi is stacked with ikura, eel, and tamago. The food never misses. The staff are always warm and welcoming, and the prices are more than fair. A true hidden gem that has stood the test of time.

Food is generally good and authentic. Service could be better. Waiters and waitresses are showing their faces like they worked all day, but actually they just opened 10 minutes ago. I receive worse service with extra tips here than in Japan with no tips. People love Japan not just Japanese food.

I visited this place based on TikTok reviews calling it a hidden gem, but unfortunately, my experience was quite different. The food didn’t taste as good as I expected, and the prices were too high for the quality. The rolls, in particular, lacked balance in flavor.
We didn't make reservation but, luckily, we could dine in for an hour which was a bit rush. The overall feeling was being pushed so it is recommended to make reservation in advance. The beef tongue was too thin and overcooked. No shiso leaves in assorted sashimi platter. Tempura was great. Uni looked good but tasted just ok. Anago was overpriced.

Tairyou Ichiba in Burnaby is a must-visit for Japanese food lovers! The atmosphere is lively yet cozy. The food quality is top-notch, featuring incredibly fresh sashimi, beautifully crafted nigiri, and a great selection of grilled skewers and hot dishes.
The variety on the menu is impressive—from perfectly crispy karaage to tender yakitori, seared sushi, and flavorful grilled beef tongue. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and well-balanced in flavor. I also loved the huge selection of Japanese alcohol.
Service was excellent, Whether you’re craving fresh seafood or expertly grilled bites, this place delivers. Highly recommend checking it out!
