First time, ordered take out. It was ready in less than 15 minutes. the rolls were good. Added the tuna sashimi and it was tasty. Staff were friendly.

Takara is our favourite sushi spot in the lower mainland. Best wild sockeye salmon sashimi and salmon oshi! Their house spicy sauce is delicious! Highly recommend!

This Sushi establishment in Burnaby is, by local standards, rather a cut above.

The quality is genuinely commendable, and while the prices sit at the higher end for Burnaby, one does feel the exchange is fair. This is not one of those establishments where the sushi arrives in heroic proportions, engineered more for spectacle than for eating. Mercifully, the pieces here resemble proper Japanese sushi, balanced, restrained, and sized for civilised bites rather than jaw dislocation.

The fish is fresh, the rice properly seasoned, and the overall execution refreshingly free of gimmicks. One can actually taste the ingredients instead of wrestling with them.

Burnaby is not always synonymous with refinement in sushi, but Takara does make a rather convincing case for itself.

The food was okay, there are better options in my opinion in the city. Too pricey and serving sizes are small

I used to like this place and ordered often, but the quality has really gone down.
The chiken karaage seemed to have been sitting for a while — it was soggy, very small, thin, and barely had any meat inside. It felt like I was just eating the fried coating instead of the meat.
I also ordered three rolls, but they were so small.

I used to love coming here, so I’m really disappointed. I won’t be coming back anymore.

Takara Sushi at 3726 Canada Way is a cozy spot with fresh sashimi, even the standard cuts feel premium and not fishy at all.

Ordered a big sashimi bowl with salmon, tuna, hamachi, and ikura – portions are generous, roe pops with briny sweetness, and everything arrived cold and shiny.

Rolls like avocado and California are tight and fresh too, no sogginess.

Saff friendly and quick. Clean tables, good parking nearby. Great value for quality. If you're in Burnaby craving reliable Japanese, add this to your map.

Second time coming while visiting in Vancouver and will make a point of returning every time I'm in town. The best sushi and everything on menu is always available. Presentation, service and atmosphere is just fantastic.

I had a birthday dinner for 10 people. I asked Tommy the chef to put something together for me with a budget and he over delivered.

No reason to go downtown for excellent quality sushi. We have it right here in Burnaby.

Thank you to the Takara team.. Can’t wait to be back.

Ps. The Engawa was a super big hit!

Excellent quality fish at decent prices. Service was great and the manager was super welcoming. Got the deluxe sushi and it did not disappoint. Can get a bit loud if there are big groups.

Small portion size for what you pay. Food/service was good but not worth the $$.

We’ve been coming to Takara for over three years, and the food is always exceptional, consistently top-notch every time. It’s a family run spot, and Tommy, the owner, always makes us feel so welcome. The servers are super caring and truly the best, which makes the atmosphere even warmer and more inviting. Highly recommend

Horrible food. I ordered Sushi Combo which includes nigiris and I saw the chef throw at ton of rice into a rice machine. When the nigiri and maki came, the rice was so dense.

Tables are so close together that we were uncomfortable talking in the restaurant. I'm expecting a lot better care into their food and environment if they're charging their prices.

Edited: Thank you for the clarification.
