I recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately experienced severe stomach symptoms the following day, leading to a hospital visit where I was diagnosed with a serious food-related infection. I had never faced such an issue before. Given the severity of my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

I went with a vegan group. They gave great green tea that's on the house. Food is very good and great quantities for the prices.Tons of options to choose from the menu.Vegetarian options: Vegan options also available

Definitely a place that serves up good priced sashimi compared to other restaurants. The Kyoto Combo was really good with the quantity of sashimi and nigiri sushi. Throw in the Cali roll, 5 pieces of tempura, a miso soup and sunomono, you got one pretty sweet deal! The pieces of sashimi were pretty big and thick too!

Been coming here for years. Today we sat down at 1105hrs and never received our New York roll after asking at 1145hrs. The staff attitude was pretty shocking and we will not be coming back to this particular restaurant.Hopefully the other one listed on Hastings will be better.

Changing my review of this restaurant. It had great food and staff for a few years after it opened. However, after the slim built Asian guy with eyeglasses was hired (I see from other reviews his name may be Cyrus?), and unfortunately, he seems to be working there all the time, our interactions with him was very seldom pleasant. He has absolutely no customer service skills nor does he have manners. Never says thank you even after we prepaid a tip for the takeout. Never any greetings, thank-you’s, or goodbyes. That’s fine with me as the food is still decent. However, my very first negative interaction with him was a few years go when I walked in as the first customer when the restaurant opened in the morning. This young man (Cyrus) took my order. After 45 minutes of waiting and no food (at first I thought the kitchen needed time to warm up the fryer or something so I didn’t say anything). This waiter had been walking back and forth around me serving other customers and never once did he wondered why I was sitting there for so long without food being served. I finally asked him about my order and he came back and told me my ordered was never entered into the system- even though he was the one that took my order - no apologies, nothing.Fast forward to today, I went in and ordered two takeout items and paid for the food (with tip) - and as expected, no thank you from this guy - that was almost as expected. That was fine. However, again, being one of the first customers and after 30 minutes of waiting and no updates from this waiter, I asked about the food. He simple told me that they just opened up and I had to wait a bit longer. The moral of the story, don’t bother going in early to beat the crowd because they’ll just make you wait longer for the food. Don’t bother tipping if you’re doing takeout and this guy is doing your order because he doesn’t seem to care about his customers or the tips.I feel sorry for the kitchen staff because most of the time they make decent food and they work very hard. They could have a bigger share of the tips if the front end servers knew just a little about good customer service.

I often come here with a big group when everyone's craving lots of sashimi. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. The food isn't anything special, but it's generally not bad. If I'm looking for delicious food, I might not choose this place, but for a lot of food, it's my go-to.

Tent’ing up… solo!I was in the area picking up an order so decided to come by here because it has been awhile since I last visited.I always like the simple and spacious concept of this place as it gives you that causal comfort especially when dining solo. Here were the food I ordered this time around;1. Hot sake. I seldom drink, just going generic2. Clam miso soup. Large bowl of miso soup, nice and hot but only 3 clams?3. Deep fried soft shell crab. Very nicely done, exactly the way how a soft shell crab should be! And it’s almost half the price as other places, loved it!4. Beef tataki. I am not too fond of this dish as it sat on top a layer of shredded radish preventing the sauce to fuse with the beef properly. I could dip it one by one as the sauce came separately but that’s quite a bit of a workout lol5. Oyster motoyaki. I personally preferred oyster motoyaki to be fresh and on its shell. Way too much mayo, an overkill.6. Deluxe assorted sashimi. Very fresh and nice selection of fish for a reasonable price.7. Uni nigiris. Nice! Generous amount of uni unlike some other places.8. C + B combo (fancy roll & 4 nigiris; 2 salmon, tuna, toro). Very fresh and buttery especially the tuna toro.Honestly, I was a little surprised with the food quality (is it me or it has gotten better?!?). I know the portion was always their trademark but the last time I was here, it was only so so. This time around, a more satisfying experience. The service here was okay, pretty typical nothing special to chant about. And the atmosphere was very casual therefore dining solo here wasn’t awkward.Overall, I think I might come back to this place more, even if going SOLO.

Relatively inexpensive sushi.Service is good, usually pretty quick bringing you your food, on this particular occasion it took quite a long time. They have downsized some portions, particularly the udon soup, was about half the size it has been in the past, and of course, prices have gone up...inflation?Finding that over time everything pretty much tastes the same, relatively Bland sushi rolls. It seems as though something has changed, used to really enjoy going there. Food used to be much better, hadn't been for a while, as the previous few occasions haven't been that great, thought I'd give it another go, don't think I'll be going back again for some time.Tempura is frequently overly greasy.I think they need to change their oil more often.Good if you're on a budget, but I think there's better food out there and other places for a similar price range.

Honestly they have never let us down. The food is always great. Chicken teriyaki and the BC roll are very good.

Price fits portions. The quality of the items were nice but the portions were a tad bit smaller than what I'm used to.

Tentatsu’s food is great. The people who take the calls when ordering the take-out are always my issue. I was told while ordering over the phone that if I order $30 I would get 30% off. I order my food, and she tells me “ok great, you’re over $30.” So I reply “so I will get my discount?” And she confirms yes. My boyfriend goes to pick it up, and when he comes back home he tells me that they didn’t apply the discount. I call them and explain what happened and all they have to say for themselves is “Because you weren’t over $30 before tax.” How is that my fault? Teach your servers and people who take the phone calls to double check these things while I order. I’m not here to do your job. I would’ve been fine adding 1 extra thing to reach the threshold had she told me. No compensation or gift certificate even offered. Just horrible service all around.
