Everything is sooooo good about this restaurant! The food is amazing that is why we made a reservation for a family lunch gathering. The restaurant was so busy, and we waited about 30 mins, which is 15 mins passed our reso time. We can understand it, but a bit disappointed. Then right after the waitress sit us, the restaurant gave us a dish of bean curd for free. They were like they were so sorry for keeping us waiting while we have a reservation, just want us to enjoy the lunch. And it is their way of saying sorry. I feel grateful! They truly value the customers and being very respectful, and did their best to take care of the customers to make sure we enjoy our experiences and meals. Thank you to the team! Service here is wonderful!

Very dirty! Found a bug in my soup. 🤢🤮 There were also flies flying around the restaurant. It is very expensive : $55 for 1 tasting menu (which feeds 1 person). It’s not very filling since you only get 1 tray of meat (maybe 5-6 slices of beef). Do not recommend.

I've been to this place several times before and have enjoyed the food and atmosphere there. The service feels a little rush but I don't mind as long as they provide the right yummy food and privacy that the booths offer. This visit was different for me as I have since been adviced by the doctor to stay off eating gluten. I added the allergy to my receipt but there were two times where I was served something that contained gluten. I told our waiter and she was great at making the sauce glute free and getting me the gluten free broth. However, she did not make a note on my bill and when the refill waiter came I made sure to ask her for the gluten free broth. She said yes. That it was gluten free. However, the same lady came by and refilled it with regular. I assumed that she remembered and ate it. However, when she came again she refilled it from the same container and when I confirmed if it was gluten free she said no. I ended up eating a quarter of the soup already. In addition, the waiter that took our order had forgotten and served me the cucumber salad with regular soy sauce. Needless to say, I was flustered during this visit and ended up with a rash and stomach pain. I was expecting more vigilance!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and always enjoyed both the food and service — but my experience two days ago was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the man at the host stand seemed completely unenthusiastic and uninterested in helping us. He ignored me when I spoke to him, even though there was no one else waiting, and his attitude throughout the meal was rude and dismissive.
At one point, when he delivered part of our meal, I politely asked if he could top up our broth. He said “okay” and walked away, but never came back. We waited about 15 minutes before another server passed by — I asked her the same thing, and she immediately took care of it. The original server never returned or checked in again.
For a place where a dinner for two easily costs over $200, I expect at least a welcoming and attentive level of service. It honestly felt like he didn’t want to be there. Nobody is forcing him to work there, but if he’s going to represent the restaurant, he should act like he cares about the guests’ experience.
The food was fine as usual, but the service completely ruined the evening. I hope management takes this seriously, because this restaurant used to be one of my favorites.

The one in richmond has better soup and better service, new one in burnaby is trying to be fancier and service was not as good. For example I got too much peanuts and wanted to take them home, the server in ricmond said no problem I'll bring u a container. Then I went to one in burnaby, the server school me about I'm not suppose to take food away but she will bring me a container. I'm like what this is not all u can eat, I pay for this and it's a few peanuts cos I don't wanna waste them. Not cool w that condescending comment.

The market area with the sauces & desserts was just lovely. As a fruit lover, it was a real treat to see so much variety. It was like a buffet so we were very pleased to be able to refill multiple times 🍉🍇🍎
Lastly, they offered us vanilla ice cream in waffle cones as well! 🍦
In a nutshell, we got way more than what we paid for. Very hard to find such fancy restaurants in town that provide great value 😇

Finally tried DolarShop after visiting their sister restaurant Chocho multiple times. The ingredients are fresh and there was a decent variety at the market table too. Service was ok, not too attentive but came over when we requested something. With that said, probably won't be returning because for the same price, we could have gone to Chocho and eaten more for all you can eat vs. spending $110 and not being full.

Good quality/freshness of food and the hot pot broths are really good, this is the first impression of this place. Not sure the atmospheric vibe is appreciated by everyone who visits this place though. Don't get me wrong, their waiter and waitress were really doing a good job to satisfy the customers. Just that the environment felt rush and busy, very busy! May be it's just me, paying this kind of price, I’ll expect a more classy and relaxing experience. For younger customers, I don't think they mind at all.
