On Monday, Sept 11, 2023, I ordered their lean pork and century egg congee around 8pm on my way home from a camping trip. Picked up my order around 8:45pm and went home. Had a quick shower before starting to chow down on my late dinner. When I was close to finishing my meal, I FOUND A RUSTY NAIL IN MY PORRIDGE. I thought it was a bone at first so I even had the nail in my mouth TWICE before I looked down and realized what it was. I am absolutely horrified, disgusted, and sick to my stomach now as I am typing this. I’ve ordered from Yan’s MANY times because they make good food, but this is completely unacceptable. I am going back in tomorrow to complain but I’m not sure there is anything the restaurant can do to make this right. My mind is racing with all the possible diseases I might contract because of this, and the chemicals, bacteria, and germs that I have ingested. I know it was an accident, but I am so disgusted now, and concerned about my health. Beware if ordering late at night. Ugh.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this dim sum place, and I cannot stress enough how utterly disappointed I was, primarily due to their appalling food hygiene standards. It was evident from the moment we walked in that cleanliness was not a priority. The tables were sticky and dirty, and the sight of uncleaned dishes left on neighboring tables made my stomach turn. But it didn't stop there; the real nightmare unfolded when we received our food. I couldn't help but question the safety of what we were about to eat.The dim sum dishes arrived lukewarm, and some even appeared undercooked. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a server handling food without gloves or proper utensils. It was a complete disregard for basic food safety practices. To make matters worse, the waitress displayed a complete lack of professionalism. She was rude, never bothered to refill our drinks, and seemed disinterested in our concerns. In short, my experience at this dim sum place was nothing short of a nightmare, with the poor food hygiene taking the spotlight. I strongly advise against dining here if you value your health and well-being.

Needed to ask 5 servers if they can bring water, everyone were pointing out to the air and saying "You need to ask her for water". Despite the delicious food, the service is horrible. The servers don't care about your table enough to look what you asked for even though is on a paper, they will bring you whatever they think you order and just charge extra for it. They are just efficient enough to bring you the bill and point out that you need to leave tip. I work in the industry and I know how to give a good service, you can't just pretend you gave a top notch service and force the costumers to leave a tip with your words.

Update July 2023Tried this place again since it is close to me. The carts dont come around enough. The core dim sum items arent on the menu to order. You have to wait for a cart where the food may be luke warm. The day i went i was a bit luckier and some of the food was actually steaming hot. Ha gao and chicken feet for example. Probably just lucky timing.Shrimp Rice crepes were no where to be foundWe finally got them and asked for a bit more of the soya sauce and she seemed frustrated by this ask and basically drowned our food and got it all over the table. Did not return with a towel or anything to clean it up. Not even some extra napkins. See pics. Then to be surprised with a ridiculous “tea fee” That was the last straw. If you told me at the beginning there would be a fee, i wouldnt be annoyed. I checked the menu after quickly to see if i could find a note about it and i couldnt. If its there, its in small letters.PreviousHave gone here for dimsum probably least 5 timesif u come late the dimsum is luke warm at bestI came earlier last week and same experience. Dimsum from the cart was cold. Ordered a second and told them but they could care less.Dinner.Had peking duck here once. It was goodThe fish maw soup was garbageThe second course with the duck was betterAt this point. Ill be trying other places. Consistency is crucial. If the dimsum came hot everytime. Id keep coming back. The dim sum is good when its hot. I pay for hot food, not food that has been sitting.

Very poor quality control. House Special Chow Mein came with half of the noodles uncooked and crunchy. When getting two simple noodle dishes delivered for $55 you at least expect it to be cooked properly. And if that's their signature that's how I'm going to rate the whole order.

It was 12.40 pm when our group of 6 came into the restaurant. Even though we called to reserve hours in advance on a normal Monday but still quite packed with groups of eaters in and out. So this is a sign of delicious foods right? My personal review about quality of food here is good experience. Foods are fresh and flavour. Cons: soy sauce, vinegar, chilli oil are all served in so small portions that they rarely satisfy my dipping style. However, congee seafood made it up for that. The variety of choices here is very limited - I guess they pay more attention on quality in lieu of quantity. So it is a trade off. Staff are old and therefore slow but don’t worry because eventually you gonna be served. You also can buy vouchers for friends. I also saw they served garlic ginger onion stir fried lobsters here. Parking is available.

We were so disappointed with both our meals but even more so with the way we were treated afterwards. We ordered in. My wife's noodles were hard and crispy in some spots with no sauce on them and my halibut had tough cartilage-like pieces in it. My wife called the restaurant hoping they would be a little bit empathetic but instead she got yelled at by the man on the phone saying "there's nothing we can do, you ordered takeout" and he hung up on her. When we tried calling back from 2 different cell phones, the phone just rang and rang without anyone picking up, Perhaps they recognized our out of province area codes coming in... We are both former restaurant managers and were shocked at the lack of customer service and the food quality. We did not finish our meals and ended up ordering more food from another place. I come here on business regularly and needless to say we will NOT BE BACK!

My husband and I ordered takeout from this restaurant tonight. It was the worst food and experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant!!! My chow mein had absolutely no flavor, and it had a glue like substance on it and the noodles were not fully cooked. I asked for sauce on the side and they charged me one dollar for one small packet of soya sauce. My husbands halibut had so many bones in it that he could not eat it and the taste was terrible. They also did not include any cutlery with the take-out order. When I called to ask about this, the gentleman on the phone basically yelled at me and hung up and would not answer when I called back. Stay away!! it cost us $50 for absolutely nothing and now we need to order something else because we are hungry!!

Not too many places still have push cart so you get the full dimsum experience. If you are lucky, the cat robot might make an appearance too!!The food is excellent and the service is amazing. Very friendly staff. These deep fried shrimp balls are a must!

I mean pick up service was not bad and that is what the stars are for mostly…. Food… as a Chinese person the quality honestly is below average. We ordered sweet & sour pork and the pieces were double the regular size and turned out it’s not crunchy at all. The eggplant salted fish was mushy and seemed more “side veggies- green pepper, onion, red pepper” than actual eggplant and meat and no taste of salted fish at all. It’s unfortunate because it’s close by but I guess we have to go further for better food next time.
My family's favourite dimsum place for years. We come often and always go here for special occasions like CNY or a birthday gathering. Reservations are easy to make. Their food is delicious, fresh and consistent in taste. A great variety but the prices are getting higher and higher.

Really good food here, we ordered the spicy pepper chicken which I really enjoyed, but could have been a bit more spicy. We also ordered the chicken wings, Shanghai dumplings (which were delicious), and the sparerib chow mein. Everything was very flavorful and the food was brought out quick. The service was really good, one server even helped us put noodles in our bowls because we were struggling XD Great go to spot for dim sum and noodles

A decent but average Chinese takeout food experience. Tried the pea shoot tips with garlic and it was quite old, tough to chew, and super fibrous which is the opposite of the soft and tender texture you expect for pea shoots. Portions were good though. Also tried the honey garlic spareribs which were nice but didn’t have too much honey garlic sauce on them.

We visited Yans Garden for the first time since 4 years ago. They updated their interior design so the restaurant looks fresh. Food is still delicious but feels like there is less items on the menu than before. Also not a lot of vegetarian options. They still have the carts but less options on them.

Mediocre Experience . Duck was good , though wish we could get cut skin only l. Crab was poor all stuck to shell . Either frozen overcooked or old . Had crab previous day at Sun Sui Wah and nothing like this . All meat was stuck to shell and dry . Service was also very poor . Almost 20 minute wait just to order and no waitress or waiter clearing dirty or full plates isn’t great .
