Tried all the coffee places in town and the coffee here is the best! Although I didn't have any, the food coming out of the kitchen looked sumptuous. I understand there are new owners and the people behind the counter were very customer friendly and accommodating. I heard them work with one woman to make a special diet sandwich on gluten free bread. I highly recommend this plane for both coffee and food.

I went here not too long ago thinking it was still the Bagels n’ Brew. I noticed the menu changed, and they were out of avocado and paninis. Which is a shame since my friends and I all wanted paninis with avocado. They didn’t have the bagel melts from the Bagels n’ Brew either since they are a new business, which is sad but makes sense, so our only options were wraps and bowls. Two wraps came to $25, and they weren’t all that great. They were pretty dry and not too filling. Sure, the ingredients were fresh, but $25 for two dry wraps is not worth it! Especially when McDonald’s is right across the street, and they make wraps that are about similar quality in terms of flavour at least, for a cheaper price. Honestly, I’m just disappointed overall, since the best food item on the menu is gone with the new business, they didn’t have anything we wanted, and when we did get our food, it was mediocre at a high price. I am sorry to say, but I can’t recommend this place unless you’re maybe going in just for a coffee.

The freshly opened MadPress Coffee is exactly that, FRESH! everything from the menu to the decor is such a breath of fresh air for Castlegar. an inviting interior that's cozy yet funky, amazing staff that greet you with a smile, and INCREDIBLE food. I have tried a few of the new bowl options they offer and all have been amazing! My favourite has to be the Santa Fe bowl (with tofu instead of chicken). So grateful to have something like this in Castlegar.Vegetarian options: You can sub tofu to anything, and their tofu has to be some of the best I have ever had. They marinade it over night so it is PACKED with amazing flavour.

Was in castlegar for a couple of days and the housekeeper at the hotel I was staying at recommended this cafe. It was much better than the one I went to downtown. The bagels are amazing and the coffee is really good. Definitely recommend if you’re a newbie to town!
