Dropped in for fish and chips and a beer. Good selection of draft beer however I would give the fish and chips a 2 out of 10. An inkling of what was to come was when my meal arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. Usually it is very good, this time it is as if it had been pre-cooked and then redone again to heat it up. The batter was actually crunchy and the fish very dry, the chips were quite oily. If this was my first time, I would not return.

Vegan options are not as advertised- I ordered vegan bangers and mash. What I recieved was two sausages in casings with about 2tbsp of gravy and French fries. The waitress said. “Well it’s supposed to say vegan bangers and fries”. I pointed out she’d informed me of that then I would have made a different choice. I sent it back and ordered vegan tostadas which were advertised with squash and beans on them. I received 2 small tostadas with less than a teaspoon of refritos on each and piled high with boxed salad. There was nothing else on them! Seriously-how hard would it have been to microwave a potato for a 25.00 bangers and mash plate? And the tostadas weren’t even close to something a chef should have let out of the kitchen. The waitress dropped off cream for my after dinner coffee, after I politely explained I didn’t eat meat, dairy or eggs. She never offered a non-dairy option and I couldn’t flag her down to ask. If you’re plant based, vegan, or lactose intolerant don’t be fooled by the online and in house menu. The only thing the Griffin offers for us is disappointment.
Vegetarian options: Food for vegans looks good on the menu but what they served me was completely different and an abhorrence to vegan cuisine. The sausages were in casings!

We went for lunch after a military event. Staff were wonderful, patio was lovely and the food was delicious. I had the Brie which was amazing. Close to the base (CFB Comox) so very convenient for us. Have been before and will go back again. Good portion sizes and decently priced. We all felt very welcomed to be there, even though we showed up a little before they even opened.
Lovely way to enjoy a lunch with friends outside on the patio.

Not bad. Not bad. Wewould god again. We showed up to town late and there were no options for us with our toddler. After a snarky no for him we as a family decided to leave grandma and son in the parking lot with a to go order while we sat inside with the local bar theatrics. 2nd oddest stop of our entire vacation. Canada needs to revisit child/alcohol laws. We drove all the way across bc before finally understanding how the laws and restaurant licensing worked.
