I visited Ayam Zaman Restaurant in Vancouver and ordered the Ayam Zaman mandi (half chicken) and Arabic beef shawarma.
The mandi rice was very cold, which was disappointing, especially considering the price. The beef shawarma was also very expensive for the portion size. It came with only 5 small pieces and did not feel worth the cost.
Overall, the food quality and value did not meet my expectations. I hope the restaurant improves food temperature and portion sizes.

Very disappointing experience at Ayam Zamam. The food was bland and did not taste fresh, especially the chicken, which was dry and poorly seasoned. Portions were smaller than expected for the price.
Service was slow and unorganized, even though the restaurant was not busy. Staff seemed uninterested and didn’t check on our table at all.
Cleanliness could also be improved — tables were sticky and the overall atmosphere felt neglected.
Would not recommend, and I won’t be returning.

I have visited this restaurant several times outside of Ramadan, and the meals were consistently okay. However, I would advise against visiting during Ramadan. During this period, you can expect to pay over $65 per person for a meal that is only worth around $30. Additionally, the food supply seems to be insufficient to satisfy diners.
I believe that managing an open buffet during Ramadan might not be the best strategy for this restaurant. To improve, the restaurant should consider offering a wider variety of dishes and being more generous with portion sizes. The food is gone before we get full.
Location is really good and a lot of parking spot available

Probably one of the best shawarmas I’ve ever had — took me back to the days I was living in the Middle East! The staff is also extremely kindly and opened up the restaurant 10 minutes after close just for us so we could get food. Highly recommend!

This place used to be really good. Not sure what happened... We stopped tonight for muhammara - specifically drove there for this dip and when we brought it home it tasted rancid. Not sure if it was the nuts or the oil but something was off.
We went a few mo this ago and also found the food subpar. Decided to give another try but sadly its not like it used to be... Disappointing to spend money and get something that you won't eat...
Delicious chicken shwarma did not disappoint!! One constructive comment would be to NOT cut up the Shwarma to eat in pieces. It is street food and not meant to be eaten this way. Honestly, the food was gushing out from both ends... not so cool.

My story begins with Ayam Zaman restaurant and ends because I’m 100% not going back again.
I was thinking a lot about if I should leave a review or not,
but I decided that it's my duty to keep people healthy because it’s a serious health hazard.
I’m talking about the quality of food and clean.
The first time I visited this restaurant was Dec 28th, 2024. It was 10/10 excellent.
then I went back again after a couple of months and it was 6/10.
But yesterday Sep 10th, 2025 was 0/10 the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had in Canada.
The shawarma sandwich and chicken were super bad, moldy and smelly.
The chicken tasted very bad and moldy.
Even the cucumbers were old, maybe from poor storage.
My friend’s spoon was dirty, they didn't clean it well, I don’t know about the others spoons and dishes in the kitchen.
I took detox drink to clean my stomach and colon.
The service guy was kind yesterday
I hope the restaurant continues to be as good as it was before in terms of food quality because before it was amazing and clean.
I really hope people won't get sick or get food poisoning in the future.
My regards

This was honestly the WORST restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The food was completely unacceptable.
• The shawarma sandwich was disgusting — I’m certain the meat was rotten, it smelled terrible, and there was even fungus inside the sandwich. Absolutely unsafe to eat.
• The koubeh plate was just as bad. The salad was clearly old, the cucumber looked spoiled, and to make things worse, we actually found a hair inside the dish.
This food is not just bad — it’s a serious health hazard. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Absolutely one of the best dining experiences ever! We went with our friends and everyone truly enjoyed it! The family platter was huge and bursting with flavor the kebabs were perfection and the chicken tawouk was out of this world. Every side, from the mutabal to the tabouleh, was fresh and delicious, and even the fries and rice were served in generous family-sized portions. On top of that, they serve fresh bread straight from the traditional oven, warm and fluffy, which made the meal even more special. The service was outstanding, the restaurant spotless, and the music created the perfect vibe to enjoy the food. This place is an absolute must-visit highly recommend to anyone who loves amazing food and a great atmosphere!

Service was alright, but food wasn’t good at all. Food was very dry and tasted old. The amount of food on the plate was decent, but we didn’t even finish it or take any to go.
