Came here to have dinner with my grandparents and the food was 10/10! The service was very good too - Especially the 2 young girls (very pretty)! Would recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Korean food (compliments to the chef)!

The very first thing our waitress told us was 18% minimum tip—without even a hello or greeting.
We were a group with one baby, one young child, two seniors, and two adults. After placing our order, I asked for two forks for the kids, but nothing was brought. When the food arrived, I asked again for 2 forks and also bowls. Five minutes later, still nothing. I asked the waitress once more, and she even questioned, “You want bowls?”
Luckily, we eventually got them—but I noticed other tables already had bowls from the start.
The restaurant wasn’t busy at the time— only 4 tables with about 5–6 servers.
The food itself was really nothing different from other Korean restaurants.
We came here for the first time because of the high google reviews, but sadly the experience didn’t match the expectations.

I hesitate for weeks but I have to address this for your better business. Food are bad. They are smelly and not taste at all. When you guys opened about two years ago, it was all good. But gradually somehow it is getting worse and worse. In last 5 weeks, I visited once and ordered twice. It was terrible. I really wanted to ask for a refund, but I didn’t. Seriously check your food quality. Sorry, I wouldn’t order from here again.

Having visited here multiple times in Coquitlam; the FOOD SAFETY 🤢 and SERVICE STANDARDS of this place has been declining📉 every time I’ve walked in there. Not a kid friendly place if you have a large group of people and your child is exhausted after a long day. Not sure if it’s the new server thick lashes and makeup, her attention to details and communication in managing large group is poor, she’s just clueless. When we requested to sit on different EMPTY bench sitting tables for the kids comfort and safety of a napping child, we were accused of avoiding the “company’s” policy of 15% gratuities for 6 people or more by the Manager and server. Not about $$$ in my opinion. Throughout my years in Hospitality Management, I’ve never heard of such statement walking into a restaurant, putting customers down when we were just trying to be comfortable and eat after a long day. There are better Korean restaurants out there that is welcoming, better tasting, and show better care. If you are looking for comfort or great eats, I would NOT RECOMMEND this place unless you want to find a thick eye lashes in your soup 🤮. I would spend my money $$$ elsewhere.

I recently visited Dookbaeki restaurant in Coquitlam Centre Mall and wanted to share my thoughts. We tried their Yukkyejang, Bibimnengmyun, and Soondae only Soup. Given their high ratings on Google, we had high expectations.
Yukkyejang was excellent. There was enough vegetable and meat. I would rate 8/10. At their price, I would rate it as the best item on the menu.
Bibimnengmyun was a bit below average. At that price, the portion should be more substational; the flavours were mediocre, a bit on tbe sweet side. I would rate it 7/10
Soondae only soup was very disappointing. Soondae only soup costs $1 more than the standard soondae soup, however there were hardly any ingredients in the soup except for 6 pieces of soondae, and nothing else (no vegetables at all). It is worse than frozen soondae soup meal kit from the supermarket. It is not even worth rating, maybe 3/10. I asked the server if this was their standard as we paid extra $ for soondae only soup, but she said that's how it is.
Their banchan (kimchi, kkaduki) was too sweet to be considered authentically Korean and catered more for foreigner palates.
Service was good. We were seated as we came, and the staff were hard working and friendly. I would rate the service 7.5/10.
I was very disappointed after the visit, because their restaurant setting, atmosphere, menu and price were all very good. But they are missing 1 essential in the restaurant - the food.
They are lacking in flavour and authenticity as a Korean restaurant. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

The spicy chicken with cheese served on a hot plate is worth a five star. The chicken is tender and the cabbage is crunchy. The cheese goes really well with the spicy and sweet sauce. The rest of the dishes are pretty bad. The tofu soup is not hot enough to cook the raw egg and the tofu is still cold on the inside. The soup should be boiling hot to cook the egg and tofu. The pork katsu is soggy and not crispy at all and the BBQ sauce is a bit too sweet. The kimchi side dish is good though however there's not enough variety as we were only served with kimchi, pickled cucumber and radish. Most likely not gonna come back again

Can’t believe I haven’t been here before until I was invited as part of a media tasting (Instagram: @thejennsessions)!
Food was absolutely delicious and prepared so quickly. Even though it was a hot day, the air conditioning kept us cool and able to enjoy the hot tofu soup. Staff were very friendly and more than happy to accommodate our requests!

The place is quite large and feels open. If you have a big gathering, the place probably can offer comfy experience. The food I had was average but does enough. Side dishes were alright and servers were pleasant. Seatings are comfortable and parking’s are plenty. Overall, we had good time here though nothing wowing.
