This Japanese restaurant isn’t exactly a hidden gem — more on the average side. Korean chirashi was the standout dish and really well done, though I wish they had used softer lettuce instead of romaine. Other dishes were less impressive: the donburi sauce was far too salty (I ended up asking for plain rice), and the udon tasted like it was just boiled water with tsuyu added — no depth or care in the preparation. On the bright side, the rolls and sushi were decent, and the sashimi seemed fairly fresh. Overall, a mixed experience with some highs, but a lot of room for improvement.
I wouldn’t recommend set menu though. The price really reflects the food quality here.

Very unhappy with my dinner here. The katsu bowl was not good, it was old rice, not crispy meat. Sushi wasn’t fresh and service was bad. Did not refill my tea even when I asked and she got my order wrong, then had the audacity to charge me when I asked her about it. Very unclean as well, lots of flies in the restaurant.

Great place, welcoming atmosphere. Food is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is friendly, including the cooks. They do have good deals, but even the more expensive dishes are worth the visit.

Mika Sushi might not be a hidden gem that transports you to the vibrant streets of Tokyo. The Box B lunch special, priced at a modest $20, is an artfully curated symphony of flavors. The sashimi is fresh, while the California roll with fake crab meat is a delightful balance of textures, and it is better than a lot of places in the lower mainland. The tempura was the standout, and the mini salad dressing was the weak point. Mika Sushi is an authentic and somewhat forgettable culinary experience, but for $20, it is definitely worth it.

I ordered chicken yakisoba and pork gyozas to go last night during the Hollydaze outdoor market. Hands down the best yakisoba I've ever had!! Hot and fresh and lots of different textures and flavours, we particularly loved the swirl of Japanese mayo on the top. Absolutely excellent!!
