MILAAP Restaurant - A Delightful Chana Bhatura Experience!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at MILAAP Restaurant and tried their highly recommended Chana Bhatura, and I must say, it was an absolute delight!

From the moment the dish arrived, the aroma was incredibly inviting. The bhatura itself was perfectly puffed, golden-brown, and wonderfully light, with just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and a soft, fluffy interior. It wasn't greasy at all, which is often a concern with fried bread, and it maintained its texture beautifully throughout the meal.

The chana masala was equally impressive. It had a rich, robust flavor profile, perfectly balanced with a medley of aromatic spices. The chickpeas were tender and cooked to perfection, and the gravy had a delightful thickness that clung to the bhatura without being too heavy. It struck a fantastic balance between being savory and subtly tangy, with a hint of warmth from the spices that truly elevated the dish. It's clear that a lot of care and authentic ingredients go into preparing this classic.

Overall, MILAAP Restaurant's Chana Bhatura is a must-try. It's a comforting, flavorful, and truly satisfying dish that captures the essence of authentic Indian cuisine. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and well-prepared meal. I'll definitely be back for more!

Zero stars.
Completely ignored us. No service at all. Can hear a lot of noise in the back and in the kitchen.
If you are ignoring customers who come to you, then you should just shut the doors and go home

I’ve been a regular at this place for a couple of years and have even left positive reviews in the past. Sadly, my recent experience was very disappointing. It seems there’s been a change in the culinary team, and the food quality has dropped noticeably.

I ordered several dishes—chicken korma, matar paneer, and onion bhaji among them—and none lived up to the standard they once had. The onion bhaji was overly salty, the chicken korma had a thick, unrefined gravy with what felt like plain boiled chicken thrown in, and the matar paneer was completely thrown off by the peas, which had a strong, almost chemical-like raw taste that overpowered the entire dish.

I genuinely hope they return to the quality they were once known for. This used to be one of my favourite Indian restaurants, and it’s disheartening to see the food slip like this. That said, the staff remain friendly and professional—always a bright spot.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was incredibly tasty and full of flavor—every dish was cooked to perfection. The quality and freshness really stood out. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves delicious, well-prepared food!

Seeing the reviews and high ratings, I tried to love their food, but sadly it falls behind my expectation.

Eggplant bharta ⭐⭐: all sauce, little eggplant, like an eggplant-flavored chutney. I haven't seen such a yellow baigan bharta, should have a purple-ish color from the eggplant?

Coconut rice ⭐: The description says it's cooked with coconut milk and curry leaves, but it comes with grated coconut and coriander?? Lackluster flavor.

Butterica chicken ⭐⭐⭐⭐: As a normal dish it's good, it uses chicken thighs instead of chicken breast as many other restaurants do which gives a more chewy texture. But as their brand it does not give us a wow feeling. The sauce is just fine, more nutty and less tomato-ish compared with normal butter chicken.

Also all the dishes feel overly salty and spicy by mild standard. Large portion feels not large enough, but considering the price it's okay though. Maybe it's the traditional Indian way of flavoring and serving, other restaurants I've been to are moderated?

Came over here for a Sunday lunch with the family. Overall experience was very average.

The staff was friendly and accommodative.

The food was tasty, but the potion sizes were very, very disappointing. Not seen servings that small in any restaurants, including fine dining restaurants.

We ordered the vegetarian Biryani , butter, chicken with nuts (I forget the name, but it was their number one item on the menu for around $19), Mutton korma, Dal Tadka, Butter garlic naan, chicken tikka (was the least favourite) and lacha paratha.

If the portion sizes were better our experience would have been very different. We frequent different restaurants and this was the first time ever that I have seen portion sizes this small for a restaurant of this kind.

Unfortunately, I was unable to click a picture of everything we ate. What you see in the photo is the vegetarian biryani and the chicken dish.

Feedback: Improve your portion sizes. Taste wise the food is good, most of it.

Best butter chicken in the tri-cities in my experience, and best prices too, and great portions... hope that never changes.

Not fancy, would be nice to have a lunch combo of some kind. But the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Ordered through UberEats today (03/22/25). I called the restaurant to ensure it was Indian hot as a lot of times Indian restaurants around poco and Coquitlam don’t make it very spicy even when requested hot. The order came and it was wonderful. We got the goat korma and kadahi paneer. Both were made very well, however the paneer exceeded expectations. We will definitely order again from here!
