After moving to the US for a few years with my family and now moving back home, Takano was our go to spot so naturally it was one of the first places we decided to dine at. Upon stepping inside we were surprised to see an entirely newly renovated interior, after the waitress seated us to our table the first question we asked was 'Are the couple who ran this place still around?' sadly we were told they had retired/sold the place. Despite all of this the ramen was still good, keeping a lot of the fan favorites on the menu. Unfortunately I do not think we will be returning as the main reason for our repeated patronage was the previous owners.

Ordered beef brisket ramen. It as delicious and well packed for take out. Will definitely get again! I will say the regular spicy was pretty mild. But still very yummy. Also got the chicken katsu. It was beautifully crispy and not greasy. Tastes great. The salad is fresh and crunchy. Will definitely order again.

This restaurant has been my guilty pleasure on skip the dishes over the holidays. I'm obsessed with Japanese flavours and appetizers - the okonomiyaki is AMAZING. I also always get the pork mazesoba. To put it frankly, it tastes like a Japanese spaghetti Bolognese. The ground pork is so flavourful and they top the egg noodles with an egg yolk which makes it all so creamy. Yummmmm. The cheese buldak was really good - filled with rice cakes, crispy chicken, spicy sauce and tons of melted cheese. I personally would have surprisingly liked less chicken and more rice cake, I'm sure others would appreciate the abundance of meat haha. My only disappointment in all honesty is the ramen which is too bad because it is one of their specialties. I found it pretty bland. But do not fret because the other dishes are AMAZING!

First of all, I just want to open this review by saying this Chris Paik individual needs to get a life. Grow up. What benefit do you get out of trash talking a small business that’s just getting on their feet with new ownership on a public forum like Google Reviews? Childish, act your age.The food here is great. The original owners, who had over 30 years of experience as ramen shop owners, would be proud. The quality is still fantastic, and they have learned well from the mom and pop who ran this shop for many years. The food was piping hot, anything that needed to be crispy was on the mark. The gyoza was perfectly cooked, and the filling was soft and not overdone. Noodles were perfectly cooked, the new garlic shoyu broth was a refreshing new addition to the menu.I have been coming to Takano ramen cafe regularly for the last six years, and while I miss the small, homeyness of the old aesthetic, it was time for a refresh—and the new owners have done a fantastic job. Keep it up ladies. You have our support.

Utterly disappointed!!!! I used to come here often when it was owned by the lovely couple, Peter and Agnes. They had the perfect ramen. Now it’s watered down and tasteless and lacking in depth and flavor. They don’t age the broth like the original owners did. Also the original owners were kind and warm and polite… the owner/server now is the exact opposite of all that and very unprofessional.Luckily there are lots of better ones in the Coquitlam area with better service!!!

Best okonomiyaki I've had outside of Osaka, and the variety of ramen here is pretty good. Grab the Nagasaki style seafood bowl while it's available, it's great. Spice levels are pretty consistent and I haven't had a bad dish here. Staff are pretty nice. The broth isn't top-tier, which is the only thing holding this place back.

The interior and the service of this place is nice, that's about it. Ordered a shoyu reman with extra chasiu. Carrot and the onion don't go well with the ramen at all. The chasiu was so lean, had no fat on it whatsoever. The slices on the chasiu is so thin. The presentation of the bowl I would give a 3/10. I am Chinese and cannot pickup any of the noodle with the metal chopsticks they provided. I had to ask for the wooden ones to finish the noodles.

We got the shoya ramen + gyoza combo. I was starving after a big hike and really wanted some proper ramen. I'm deeply disappointed. The noodles taste like the cheapest instant noodles, the pork was old and overcooked, the vegetables were bitter. The broth was basically just salty water. If you're looking for good ramen definitely don't come here. Instant noodles from h mart are far better and way cheaper. The gyoza was soggy and oily without much flavour to them. Worst ramen and gyoza I've ever had hands down...

This cozy restaurant has delicious authentic ramen, handmade gyoza, selection of great Japanese foods. Atmosphere is very warm and the staffs are also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority.I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again.

Worst ramen I’ve ever had. 17.95 for salt water and canned corn is just absurd. Wasn’t even able to finish half the bowl because of how bad it was. 2 hours after eating it I still feel terrible not only for the money and food I wasted but also my body just feels like someone punched me in the gut. Please if you value your time, money or your body don’t eat here.

Wow, havent had authentic Jap ramen for long time! The soup is so flavorful and the portion is generous. Didnt expect this would be a hidden gem, but Im coming back for more. Oh, on another note, remarkable staffs' extended kindness, I had a fussy eater with me, my kid, they were checking and supportive.
