I love the Atlas ! every time we’ve been the food is absolutely delicious and unique, and the staff are wonderful. Today we went and didn’t realize it was “all breakfast Sunday”. I had my heart set on clam chowder, with only breakfast food I thought it might not be for me but the waitress was so good we decided to stay and I ended up having the best breakfast Huevos rancheros , it was absolutely delicious .. and I also ordered the wrong type of wine.. well the waitress even changed in the wine for me.. really appreciated her .. thank you Atlas cafe and staff !!
Omg, I thought I died and went to heaven! The Angela burger, with the blue cheese and poached pears, and add-on caramelized onions... Can't stop talking about it. Going to bring my foodie son to try it! Thank you for a sensational experience for my taste buds!!

Fresh Island Shellfish (clams, in the tomato and white wine sauce) was amazing! The falafels were drier than we would have wanted. Service was outstanding however!
Kid-friendliness: Staff were accommodating and offered high chairs. Kids menu doubled as colouring sheet.

Server was average, but OMG the hostess what a sour experience. Almost empty restaurant at lunch. Unpleasant demeanor and when we asked to be seated at a different table her expression showed she was aggravated. I have been here several times but will think twice before I return.

Extensive menu including tasty GF options! I enjoyed the pulled pork tacos. Great vibe, excellent service, and clean washroom. If I return to Courtney I would eat here again!

Great for a resort town!
Atlas Cafe was able to provide my companions and I delicious food and good service within a tight time frame. I appreciated the responsiveness of their friendly staff and the simpleness of the menu.

It's very trendy. I had the Angela Burger with brie. Wouldn't order it again, but it was very filling, and the beef patty was perfect. The appetizers were incredible. Had little falafel balls and loved them. The staff are amazing and it's much bigger inside than you'd expect. Very poor area for parking but a nice place to pop into if you're walking around town. The bartender was very skilled. There are plenty of gluten-free options. Uncertain if there's accessible facilities, but I know the washroom I used required 2 steps to reach. The main dining area is accessible. A walker and a cane managed well. Would be wheelchair friendly.

We had a great experience at Atlas Café, an institution in Courtenay for nearly 30 years. Our experience was marred only via a rather rude and perplexing seating experience. Despite emphatically telling us that they do not take reservations for parties less than 6 people, the owner Trent acted like seating us at 5PM was an issue, telling us we needed to clear our table by 6:30 for “a reservation”, despite being in a nearly empty restaurant.
Trent’s perplexing lack of hospitality aside, our server Erin was a gem, and took great care of us. My rating for service reflects Trent, not our lovely server Erin. Our cocktails were delicious, and began the meal on a good note. For an appetizer, we shared the focaccia with garlic and cheese. While it wasn’t bad, it was a little plain with the bread lacking herbs and texture. Broiling the cheese would have dramatically improved the dish, though the bread itself was the main issue.
For our mains, we ordered the falafel bowl with prawns and feta, and the carbonara with chicken.
Both entrées were flavorful, well prepared, and good value for money.
For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse while my wife had the carrot cake. Both were very delicious, though my wife remarked that the icing of the carrot cake was a little too sweet for her taste. This didn’t stop her from eating the cake on its own.
At several points during our meal, Trent, who had greeted us so poorly, walked past our table like he was keeping an eye on our progress against the ticking clock. Overall, this was a really great experience, though we felt rushed and unwelcome the entire time due to Trent’s behavior. This is probably the first time in recent memory that we have had someone at a restaurant make us feel so unwelcome, so I am sad to turn what would be a glowing five star review into a barely passing four. I hope the owner treats you better than he did my wife and I.

Visiting for the day and just googled places for lunch. The reviews were all positive so decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed.
There were five of us and all of us enjoyed our meal. The menu had good variety. Two had tuna burgers, one had the salmon bowl, one had tuna tacos and the last had a falafel bowl. All were fantastic.
The service was great.
Small patio outside.
Next time we are in the area, we would go back.

Oh my god! This was amazing Enchilada (vegetarian) I had in a long time!! Actually No, this is the first time I am impressed with Enchilada. It was delicious and perfectly made, a crispy tortilla (which I never had it because everywhere the tortilla is dipped into the sauce and it gets soggy, yuk!!). Oh but the tortilla rolls in this place was crispy and of course you have the firecracker rice with tomato sauce under that you can have it along with tortilla roll!! This was just amazing. Thank you Atlas Cafe for making this. Atlas Cafe is a great choice!!!
