The lack of professionalism and treatment towards paying customers from the owner is absolutely disgusting. Terrible service, over rated food. The staff are probably miserable working for such an immature owner who can’t handle his emotions. It’s too bad because this place actually has potential.

Very disappointed in the quality of the meal tonight. Five people different dishes. No one was impressed. We have been going for years. Never had a bad meal until tonight. Limited menus - lack of flavor and my dish was cold. Not sure where the original menus went. Will not be going back. Discouraging. Locals what have you dine. Such limited choices. More appetizers less main meals. At this time would not reccomend. Save you money. 😱🤑thumbs down

Loved this place. Three of us came for an early dinner. There is a beautiful outdoor patio. Inside feels warm and inviting. The salmon appetizer was delicious. There was a great choice of entrees. For dinner two of us had the seafood pasta (different options) and our other diner had the steak, all were excellent. For dessert we had the chocolate cake, the cheesecake and creme Brule. Only let down was the lavender creme brule which tasted like dish soap.

I don't know if there is a new chef, but Locals used to be one of my favourites. I don't come often as it is pricey, but it has always been worth it for a special occasion. Tonight was very underwhelming.
Great service, the servers are top notch.
The cocktails... lacking. The food, good, but nothing special. I expect more for fine dining. I've read a few comments in response to less than favourable reviews and, yikes, it sounds like things have definitely changed. I hope they up their game again -- it's been a couple of years since we've been.

We did not get to eat here. On September 9th we tried to go here for brunch. The website on our phones said they were to be open at 11am. Got there at 11:15am and it was closed and there was nothing on the door saying anything about being closed. The sign out front said hours were 11am till 8pm night Monday - Friday. We were not the only ones who showed up to eat and had to leave. Very disappointed. Someone needs to fix their website.

Went for dinner there. My wife is celiac. Shared mussels! and Caesar salad. Both were excellent. Our guests had short ribs. The plate was eaten clean! Will return when next in Courtenay!
