Was ok imho. Had better bakeries with alot more selection. Things were pretty basic. Breakfast sandwiches were all pre cooled and heated, not fresh. Tea was bagged and not loose leaf. Very small sitting area.

Delicious food and they were able to successfully accommodate my son's allergies (11 month old). We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back when we are next on Haida Gwaii. Coffeee from the Cafe was also great!

A local gem! We came here with our sister and sister-in-law for dinner and were totally impressed! Top notch food, lovingly prepared!
We started with the shrimp appetizer with homemade sourdough bread (fantastic flavour and freshness) and three of us had the ribeye steak which was perfectly cooked.
Due to mushroom sensitivity, one of the steaks had potatoes instead of the risotto.
We can understand why locals start lining up 30-minutes before opening!
A little spendy but Blacktail is a must!!

We were a party of 10. We watched all surrounding tables get their dinner while we waited for more than two hours. We did not know why .The cook sent tequila shots for each of us . 5 of us are non drinkers, the waitress/servers knew that we were having non alcoholic beverages. 2 of us left without our dinner, 2 more followed shortly with their dinner in takeout boxes. The takeout dinners were appalling. Steak with too much pepper, no vegetables and some kind of soggy overcooked rice or something. Definitely will not recommend. Will not be returning.

Would have loved to try but not really welcoming to singles. Your only choice of seating is at the cramped bar. They will not seat a single at a table. Oh well. Lots of other places happy to take my money! Sad to find a place that puts profit over people in a place like Haida Gwaii.

This review is about the service, went into bake and brew to get a few baked goods for the ferry, the girl at the counter was rude, rolled her eyes as we ordered and she spoke to the locals serving them first… the attitude was Kitsilano vibe not Daajing Giids geez!!!!

Had dinner at Blacktail which was fantastic. Very fresh delicious food. Stopped for coffee in the morning at their cafe which was a disappointment. Barista made coffee was horrible, lemon loaf was very dry but the saving grace was the fantastic and fresh baked sourdough bread.

This is the only restaurant in Haida Gwaii that truly meets the standard for both great food and good service. It’s always busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait—but it’s absolutely worth it!

We really enjoyed our meal at the Blacktail. Coming off a four-day Zodiac exploration of Gwaii Haanas, we were eager to discuss our adventure over a nice dinner, and Blacktail did not disappoint.

It was lively and busy on a Friday night, but we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Service was initially a bit slow, but after the first visit to our table everything smoothed out. The six of us started out with sourdough bread, mediterranean olives (warmed!) and garlic tiger prawns, and found all delicious. For mains we tried three menu items: the salmon, duck leg, and Angus steak and all were perfectly cooked, although we were a bit mystified why the excellent steak came with sizeable, and ultimately unappealing, dollop of butter on top.

If you find yourself in Haida Gwaii, ensure you make your way to Daajing Giids for a good meal at the Blacktail.
