Visited Roys during our trip and got mind blown with the food. Owner was present and she took lovely care . We ordered a bunch of Bengali delicacies. Few of the dishes were in fact better than authentic ones we get back home. Mutton was fantastic with many pieces.

Excellent food and ambience. Each and every bengali dish was a delicacy starting with appetizer to main course to dessert. Owner was really sweet and made sure i get to eat luchi and cholar dal. Thanks for the excellent experience. If you are in vancouver or travelling to vancouver and want to give a shot at bengali cuisine this is your go to place 🫠🫠😎😋

We found this place very randomly when we wanted to spend some time before catching a ferry to Victoria BC. And we loved it. They offer a section with Indian Bengali cuisine. We enjoyed the Kolkata Egg Roll with chicken and the Kolkata fish fry.
Overall we had a great time here.

Ok Edit in the original post:
Not all bengali food are authentic here. For example the Prawns Malai Curry had tomato and pickles (Aachar) in it. I am not sure why? Also prawn malai curry is supposed to made with coconut milk which was not at all used in this version of malai curry. I can confidently say this malai curry is not authentic at all.
Basonti polao is just yellow colored steamed rice with a few raisins- it didn’t taste like the Kolkata/WestBengal cuisine. It also lacked desi ghee which is a very important ingredient for Basonti Polao.

Hence taking out a ⭐️ from the original rating

Excellent food, I'm a big fan of Indian food in general and this was very good. The chapati was great, I don't usually see that in Indian restaurants. My picky eight year old was willing to eat the perogies in butter sauce

We made a quick stop on the way to catch a ferry. Quick service. Chicken tikka, samosa chat, and paneer masala. Really good flavours, the kids loved it too !! Highly Recommended 👍🏼

Roy’s has the best mango lassis I’ve ever tasted. The glasses are huge, the presentation lovely, and the taste is of summers as a child in India.

The food is delicious, and the selection is well-curated. The naan are freshly baked and the dishes arrive piping hot.

As a foodie from kolkata, this place is named wrong. It should be Boy’s Punjabi food where you don’t come with hopes of getting Bengali specialties. The have zero idea about kolkata Biryani or tengra style noodle. When I asked if their biryani has potato or egg, they said go for veg biryani if you want veggies but maybe no potato in it! Biryani was fried rice with curry chicken which is a shame for any kind of biryani. Noodles were full of ketchup. For thali you need to order 24hours ahead! My take is the Bengali chef comes once in a while for orders. Rest of the time it’s managed by local cooks who know how to make Punjabi style food, but not good at that either.
