Food average, can make better butter chicken at home, lamb and goat lots of bones nowhere meat so much sauce, cheap sweets you can buy at any Indian corner store, they will kill you with the fees mango and pineapple juce alone were $70 alone for 1/3 of ice in it, add taxes and restaurant fees for a total of $450 !!! I could go to any high end place and eat quality food for half the money! Steer away from this place
12 % facility charge scam on every bill and charge for high end bottled water with no other option.
Terrible service, extremely expensive drinks and hidden bottle water charges got us tonight! Avoid at all costs! They do not appreciate your patronage, take your hard earned money elsewhere! Terrible service, extremely expensive drinks and hidden bottle water charges got us tonight! Dined out at Tandori Flame in Surrey BC. I found the service was slow and i had to ask multiple times for my bottle of beer! I expected better service comparable to restaurant of this price point. The buffet was $32 and my bottle of Corona a whopping $11! Service aside....the big issue was charging for water! Unknown to us, until the cheque came, each person at our table was charged $4.50 for the water. We did speak to management and they told us that was policy despite no price or anything on the tag on bottle that there was a charge. There is a QR code on bottle but none of us scanned it as we assumed it was the menu or drink specials. No server or hostess or anyone, told us there was a charge for water. The management stands by this policy even after we argue extensively over it. Another bad service experience is the management blamed the server for not telling us beforehand but my friend who dined there many times before said she had NEVER BEEN TOLD EVER.After reading all negative reviews warning about the hidden water charging I can say for sure that servers are NOT telling ppl about the charge! I did tell them my friends and i would leave many negative reviews and not be back again and they didn't care.
We went here for 1st time try out and experience was terrible. Waitresses have been told not to provide you with all the information so that they can add up $ on the bills later even when you explicitly asked for. Food is decent but nothing special but biggest scam this restaurant is doing with beverages. Even when you ask for normal water they will just get you glasses. They will make you think tap water filled in refillable waters is covered but wont tell you until payment which is $6 a bottle. Even if you ask they will ignore. Second thing is beverages prices are tricky and they will bring you pitcher even if you ask for normal drink and tell you thats how it comes. So pitcher will cost you $35 compared to normal drink $13. Moreover they will charge you for alcoholic automatically unless you tell them. So they are trying to upsell everything but under the table so they can make most money from beverages. When we asked the manager, he is also telling that we are not the first customer facing this issue and many more complaining same. On the top of that he says they are not making any money of Food Buffet so they have to make money from beverages. I told him its ok to think that way but dont scam your customers by not telling them anything. Overall if you want to go for food its ok place, nothing super special in food quality but more quantity. But be extra careful on anything that you order for beverages including water. They want $35 for buffet and try to cross your bill beyond $100 with drinks.
Food was ok. However bottle's of water were placed on the table and no tap water offered than was charged for the bottle's of water. Patrons should be given the option whether to pay for bottled water or not!!!! Not happy Jan!!!!
When in Vancouver, do plan lunch or dinner buffet at Tandoori flame. They have large variety of Indian starters, soups, main course and deserts. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. Food quality is of high standard and has authentic Indian food flavor.
We were amazed by the amount of food this place has a dinner buffet. The variety was wonderful to look at but not as tasty! Most of the kababs were bland but we sure did enjoy all the desserts. We thought the price was fair for the variety but not for the taste and authenticity of the food served here. Would not come back again.
Friendly staff BUT Food quality has degraded a lot. “Baasi Khana”. We international students came over from kamloops just to eat Indian cuisine ended up paying $40 plus for a tasteless buffet. Goat curry was not cooked properly. Chicken tandoori and few appetisers taste has downgraded. But still we tipped for friendly staff but not food. We are not expecting new dishes in every Buffett but you serve it should be best.
Great food, good service. We were here for our anniversary and it was wonderful. We've been here before and we'll come again!
It’s my first visit in Surrey. Impressed with ambience as hype in market. I heard a lot about buffets options wide range and Indian food. I am so far not satisfied with quality of food specifically Non veg starters it’s dry and felt not fresh anyway after reaching home had vomiting. Nan excellent thank you chef for quality Nan / roti. Dessert love it superb. Disappointed with charges weekday 2 buffet + 1 drinks which is 10$ cost still I got charged 104.66 $ ? Seriously . After 9:30 pm almost closing and I did not get my bills too as it’s so complicated and not worthy to visit again sorry.

One of the best places to eat in down food! It will satisfy your taste of vegetarian, carnivore, etc. The food is authentic, abundant and fresh! The price is quite reasonable, especially if you visit then during the week. There are all sorry of desserts, salad, and the like! I can go back to the place, from Vancouver, 1-2 times a month and still love it there! The waiters and waitresses are very nice! It's obvious that it runs under good management! Thumbs up to Tandoori Flame!
Tricky practise of leaving a bottle of (Evian) water on your table and do not say anything about it when they seat you… true server comes and asks want a drink and when say water is fine they bring you some empty glasses. Again, they say nothing about the water actually costing $6/ bottle…no one says anything and there is no sign or tag at the table. When you ask for more water… they bring another bottle, again not saying anything about the price… then when your dinner is done ( food was okay for a buffet) you find out you are paying $12 for two bottles of tepid water… Kind of a scam. Just be upfront when you are seating your guests say “the bottled water at the table actually costs $6… you can ask your server for regular water if you prefer.” Not happy with a cheating Tandoori Flame practise.
Finally tried this Indian buffet over the weekend and thought it great overall. They offer a ton of variety when it comes to curries, meats, side dishes and desserts - all for a reasonable price of around $33/person for lunch. I personally liked the tandoori chicken and butter chicken the most, but it was nice to try all the different curry options. This restaurant is huge, so it can get pretty busy on the weekends (make a reservation!) and unfortunately this leads to slower service if you need anything once you sit down. I was hoping for more spicy options but everything was super mild (which makes this a good option for anyone). Would be great to see more spicy options! The last thing worth mentioning here is that the music is very loud - and at times we couldn’t even hear what our waitress was saying. It’s all about the food!
If you are a vegetarian, please skip to the last paragraph. We went here for an early dinner on a weekend. They accommodated us at a nice table next to the window up on our request. They are undoubtedly the biggest Indian buffet in North America. I have not seen such a huge variety of food anywhere in USA or Canada. They had everything from Dosas to Chaat to Tandoori items to Indo-Chinese to live dessert counters. The best part was that almost everything tasted good. Indian buffets usually do not serve the best quality or best tasting food, but not at Tandoori Flame. Every item was made as if one were to order ala-carte. The only negative was that sometimes the curries only had gravy in them, and they couldn’t refill chicken/paneer fast enough. They had more than 10 types of desserts and 6 varieties of ice-cream, including a live counter for jalebi and malpua. It has been years since I had jalebi that was made right in front of me. They also had live counter for naans, so you know they are fresh out of tandoor. Service was disappointing. The only time we were given water was when we sat at our table. We were in the restaurant for little over 1.5 hours and no one came back to refill our glasses. We also ordered some drinks, and no one came back to ask us if we wanted another drink. Also, be careful what you ask for while ordering non-buffet items as they charge for every little thing. One expects to use more napkins in a buffet as you would want to wipe your hands before going back to the buffet as you will be touching serving spoons or pick up new plates. There are no napkins anywhere and the servers are not available when needed as they are usually busy. This place has the worst hygiene . As I mentioned before, there are no napkins. I saw people who were touching serving spoons with dirty hands soiled with food. It was common for people to stand at the live counters and eat while the food was being refilled. For example, while people were waiting for naan to be prepared, couple of them were licking their fingers and used the same fingers to serve naan. It was also super common to mix serving spoons between veg and non-veg dishes. While serving naan, of them dipped the serving tongs in butter chicken in their plate and put it back as though nothing happened. I told this to the person behind the counter and he put it away, but as soon as I turned around, the server thought that I was not looking, and he put the same serving tongs back. This is completely unacceptable, specially as we are just getting back to normal after Covid. When I went to serve ice-cream, as soon as I touched the lid, my finger was covered in food grease. The whole lid handle was covered with food grease and God only knows what else. Overall, we were just disgusted with the lack of hygiene and carelessness of the staff. We loved the food, but we will never go back.
Way too expensive! Service fee $47 for a BUFFET. What service did they give . We got our drinks when we were having dessert?! Ridiculous!
