VERY Bad experience, went for dinner, it was busy but they accomodate a table for us, BIG mistake, the service was extremely slow, sorry but waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes for that food, it is definately not worth it.The food was just ok, nothing especial neither 100% authentic, please do not call a dish its Mexican name when it does not taste even closer to the real thing. The horchatas were not nice either..... This review is coming from a Mexican that knows her food. What is up with the warm salsa????? I was not able to put it in my food, and I was left with bland dishes

The food is just so-so, the menu isn’t amazing, and the service was polite, but very slow. The three times I’ve been here I arrive excited and leave disappointed. The building is the best part.

An absolute NO GO with kids. Our mistake was to arrive there hungry. Sorry guys, next time we'll do better and bring our own snacks. We had to wait for everything including complimentary water. While local regulars received all the attention from our waitress, we had to wait:- 30 minutes to make an order- 1 hour to get kid size quesadillas and tacos- 30 minutes for the freaking BILLWe came at 7 pm and left after 10 pm. It took us 30 minutes to eat. The rest time we spent waiting...Our nachos never arrived, tacos were late, had to reorder a side of FRIES TWICE: kids were mad, parents were frustrated and very dissatisfied.Absolute let down.

The aura was nice but the service and food was not so great. Food portions are pretty small and it took forever to receive the drinks, food and desserts. Drinks and food didn’t taste good. Pina colada cheesecake was good. Not ideal if you are looking for authentic Mexican restaurants. Kinda felt little racism at the front desk when we walked in.

Wasn't overly impressed. The mojito was way too sweet and there was no fresh lime or mint in it. They were able to bring some extra soda water but I clearly wasn't too happy as the drink was like a sweetend lemonade. Also, they ran out of rice that was supposed to come with the tacos but when our tacos came out, they didn't even bring out the beans. We had to ask about it. Service was fair but not great.

Had a very bad experience. Extremely slow service, not accommodating of food restrictions after hostess vehemently saying they were. Lied about replacing a dish (hair still present when it was returned!). Portion size for price was very unreasonable. Just all around awful.

I would rate this hidden Jewel a 8 stars out of 5If you are visiting or just passing by, I would highly recommend you reserve a table here for dinner, the food here is best in the province and trust me when I make mention of this as I am a Mexican cuisine true critic. Don’t take my word for it. This place has magic! My respects to the talented and attentive staff!Thank you Elle and Carlos I had a great experience at this unique Mexican restaurant

We arrived after our ferry was very late and they were closing. They were so accommodating and let us in (which was super appreciated at almost 9 months pregnant and having craved good Mexican food all day!). Everything was excellent - the atmosphere and interior design is similar to being in an actual restaurant in Mexico which we loved, our server was so friendly, the food and drinks were great (also really enjoyed being able to get a tasty 'mocktail' being pregnant), good portions. Will definitely be back and would recommend!

Awesome spot! Lovely decor and the vibes, great margaritas, and delicious tacos! Unfortunately the rice was a bit dry/stale but everything else was fantastic. Will definitely be coming back to try the flan

I ate here back in September when I was in Gibsons and can confidently say it's the best restaurant in the area, if not the whole Sunshine Coast. The whole restaurant has a very cozy feel and the heated patio is beautiful. We managed to get the first table on the patio which is more private and right next to the fireplace, which was so nice. The food was incredible. We had the elote to start, which was so flavourful, and the chicken tacos are next level. Our server was super friendly, gave great recommendations, and was just the right level of attentive. Highly recommend, can't wait to come back.

Stumbled in here after dinner on the way back to our Airbnb this past weekend and glad we did! Enjoyed a couple drinks at the bar; drinks were delicious and the bartender was super friendly. Didn't get a chance to try to food but everything that went by us looked delicious. Will definitely return next time we are in town!

We got a last minute table last night and very thankful we did! The margarita was delicious and the tacos were excellent! We would definitely recommend to a friend looking for a fantastic authentic experience!

Best place for Mexican food on the coast! This is one of my favourite places to eat in and take out. The staff are the absolute best, always happy and helpful. Food and drinks are always fantastic. The prawn pibil is a favourite and their charred salsa I could down by the bucket. Bonus, the outdoor patio is puppy friendly!

BEST FISH TACOS since i lived in Sayulita. I have eaten at most of the Mexican restaurants in Vancouver and i always order fish tacos everywhere i go and these are 100% the best authentic Baja style fish tacos i have had since living in and travelling all over Mexico for several years. The tortillas are made in house daily, the batter is perfect and crispy, the fish is fresh and moist…i want one now. The BFG is one of my favourite places to dine out anywhere. The food is made with love from a Mexican husband and wife team (and other awesome cooks), it doesn’t get any better than that! You must try the flan, ceviche, margaritas, flautas….just try everything, you won’t regret it. The team is so sweet, they sincerely want you to have a great time and it feels like they are welcoming you into their home. Mexican hospitality is like no other and that’s how it feels at the BFG. I always leave feeling so happy and satisfied. Oh yeah, and it’s gorgeous. No design detail has been overlooked. The only “complaint” i could ever have is that they’re not open enough!!! How lucky are we to have this spot on the Sunshine Coast!!?!!
