Crab cake Benny! Crab cake Benny! Crab cake Benny! I would take the ferry again just to eat the crab cake Benny. Amazing service. Delicious food. Great location. Memorable part of an amazing weekend on the Sunshine Coast.

Amaaaaaazing. Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Also, quite possibly the most perfect poached eggs I have ever seen in my life. Great atmosphere and amazing kids menu too! New favourite spot for sure. 🫶🏼✨❤️ thank you
Decided to try out The Mad Hen on a busy weekday after a friend recommended them. Service was odd as they didn't offer the option of sitting outdoors. At least the food came out quickly (15 min). Ask for their hot sauce.
- Beachcomber's omelette ($20.00) - large portion. Omelette could have been silkier but good filling. Toast was heavy on the butter
- Jenny's crazy-good crab cake bowl ($23.00) - crab cake was tasty. Enjoyed the avocado and grilled vegetables, pickled zucchini & red onion was delightful
Very busy, but the service was great!! The food was okay, forgot to take a picture, esthetically looked very instagramable.

Went on a Sunday lunch time, the wait is long, as the restaurant isn't prepared to handle this many crowds. Will visit again in a less busy hour.

We came here for lunch on a Friday at around 2pm. It was busy at first, but the lunch rush quickly finished and we had the place to ourselves. I ordered the Caveman breakfast. The food was good and the portions were decent. My wife ordered the eggs Benny. There was some confusion with the order, but it got resolved. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a 50s diner. A lot of memorabilia. Overall, a good option if you're in Gibsons.

I was excited to visit after seeing so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, my first impression fell flat.
My boyfriend and I arrived around 11 a.m. on a Thursday. It was understandably busy, but we stood at the front door for nearly 15 minutes without so much as a “hello” or a quick “we’ll be right with you.” When someone finally acknowledged us, it was a disinterested “how many?” before telling us to seat ourselves at a table in the corner and that food was taking longer than usual (fair).
As someone who works in the service industry, I completely understand how hectic it can get — but what followed was just disappointing.
Once we sat down, we waited over five minutes before someone came by with water, briefly saying “your server will be right around.” But no one ever showed up. We waited another 10 minutes with no one coming to our table. There were four servers working a relatively small space with maybe 20 tables total, and not one seemed remotely interested in serving us. Even the couple seated 10 minutes before us still hadn’t been helped by the time we even sat down. After sitting for more than 15 minutes without being served, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere.

Check your bill before u go!!! They have a good breakfast and lunch options in a cool retro setting with outdoor space too. I really liked it until our last experience, which I would have forgave if handled correctly by the manager Sam. A group of us 4 had brunch all was nice - service was good! No complaints (my breakfast was cold but I enjoyed it). When we were done 2 friends came by and joined us. They had a different waitress and ordered. When the bill came they charged us as a group of 6 and added 20 percent to the bill. We are ok with that except they didn’t tell us they did that and we all tipped on top of the total amount which included tax and tip already. It’s funny bc one guy was from the USA so he asked how to add the percentage to the bill which she told him but she could have then mentioned oh don’t worry we included a twenty percent tip. Still
I didn’t care bc I knew it was likey just a simple human mistake. Gave the benefit of the doubt. So when I called I expected they would apologize for the misunderstanding. She just mentioned thanks for letting me know and seemed annoyed. I asked about getting the difference back and she said they cant …but hello in the service industry they should offer to compensate you with at least a meal in equal value? Kinda mentioned to her (as she offered nothing - just a meh nothing I can do - I asked can I come in and get some food equal to the over charge and she not overly warmly told me I could, but could only ask for her to get anything if she’s there. I see this complaint on other reviewers it’s not good practice. Check ur bill first to ensure you are not double tipping. Anyways now sadly I can’t go back :( and the cant recommend I think this is intentional

We arrived here around 11:30 on a Monday morning in the summer, and the place was bumpin' ... lively, fun atmosphere.
Staff (all women) were friendly, attentive and efficient.
The food is made with quality ingredients and you can tell everyone in the place cares.
The avocado BLT and the crab cake benny were both delicious.
Prices were fair, the washrooms clean and spacious.
I would highly recommend and will be returning for sure.
Also, when a bunch of restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesdays in Gibson's, they're always there.
