It was difficult to talk to the owner because he was chic, but the food was great. I like fish and chips, and the portions were delicious. For two of us, we would have had to order 2 pieces to feel like we had eaten enough. It was better to eat while sitting on the old deck than in other indoor spaces.
Even though Vancouver is by the sea, the water temperature is high so they don't eat live fish very often. They say they always eat frozen and thawed fish. So, as I was familiar with the taste of fish and chips made with live fish in Korea, I was a bit disappointed by the texture that crumbles easily. Still, in Vancouver. I don't remember ever eating seafood of this quality, so I'm giving it a generous rating.
By the way, there is no beer, so you will have to just have a drink here! If you're craving beer, you can take it out and enjoy it with beer!

Excellent fish and chips, good value, big portions, crispy batter that coats the cod well but not overly thick. Nice balanced taste. The udon was good, but stick with the fish and chips.

Bad service tried to kick us out for ordering to little
Tried to drive us away for ordering too little. We have a party of four with kids and tried to order a single meal with 2 pieces. Initially decided not to sell us the food and asked us to leave for ordering too little and taking a table.

My wife waiting in line from 6:30 thinking we were well before their closing time just for a single order of fish and chips. Despite there being no one else behind her, and her waiting in the short line for 15 mins the owner refused to cook one extra small meal for her. It felt hard not to take this personally as he watched her wait in line the whole time and didn’t have the decency to tell her that he’s not planning to take her order.
Waste of my whole family’s time and humiliating being the only person being told we can’t eat there.
I was in Harrison and based on the reviews, I decided to give this place a shot. I ordered the fish and chips. I was very pleased. Portions were generous for the price. I was able to share one order with my wife and we both were satisfied. Will order next time I'm in Harrison.

John knows what he's doing! The best fish and chips around. Super light crispy batter and comes with a delicious salad. The beef udon is also really good loaded with veggies and beef. Coming to johns is a must everytime we visit harrison now :)
