They didn’t let us order until we sat for half a hour. Took over an hour for them to give us our meal and there were only 2 tables occupied. Overpriced and horrible customer service. We were supposed to get home by 7, got home by about 9. Wish we picked any other place, because our experience sucked.

Great food. Always wonderful. Prices have increased with the economic inflation but not as much as some places. Still reasonable.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of seating. We had a family gathering one day. Recently, I stopped by to pick up dinner. The owners are friendly.

Woman (owner) was really unapologetically rude to a customer. Whole restaurant could hear her accusations he had stolen take out bag. We wached her mix up bags when customers came to pickup up their takeout orders. When the older gentleman came back n informed that he was given wrong bag he was accused of taking the bag from behind counter n she insisted he had not paid for it. After about 10 minutes of her talking down to this customer and loudly insisting he had to pay to re-order. he managed to show that he had paid for his original order which she had given to another customer by mistake. She never apologized to this man for HER mistake. When I spoke up on behalf of this man, she was rude to us. I will never eat there again. Hope BC

Drive home from Okanagan to Vancouver took longer than expected so this was our unplanned dinner stop. What a pleasant surprise!The freshness of the vegetables here are unlike any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. No funky or slightly off veggies here like most other places. My partner says it's also the best sweet and sour pork he's ever had in his life. Definitely western Chinese food, but done right. And clean washrooms!Only downside are the sketchies constantly scoping out your vehicle. Don't leave valuables in your car and maybe sit near the window where you can keep an eye on your belongings.

A bit of an odd stop-by when travelling through with family. We had an electric vehicle and needed to stop and charge, and even on a Friday night in August the town was pretty closed-down even near 9 pm. We popped into Golden Star as they were closing up and ordered take out. Dinner for two with two sodas. The price was a few dollars more than I expected by I haven't gotten this kind of cuisine since "the prices have gone up" in the past months with inflation. Man, were they quick and boy, were the portions huge. Great pork, chow mein, and beef chop suey. The spring/egg rolls were not great but everything else was more than acceptable. Enough for a huge lunch the next day! Good thing we had an electric cooler in our car. Decent little place.

It’s the only sit down Chinese food in Hope. Food is always hot and fresh. At this time, the buffet is not operating. The public areas are clean. Service is very good.
Solid restaurant in the little town of Hope, BC. We were visiting family the first time since Covid, and boy have things changed! Many things remain the same, such as the well maintained park in downtown Hope. They now have an awesome Rambo wood carving! I digress.... My family loves this restaurant, especially the smorgasbord, but they now serve a la cart since Covid. We aren't able to try as many different dishes as we did in the past, but the food remains consistent. Not the best, but not the worst. It's solid. Customer service is always good...and super fast! We were extremely grateful they were open while most stores & restaurants closed early due to lack of workers. I'm sure we will continue to support this family run business as long as they're in town.
