This review is so long overdue!
My husband and I visited Catelowna for the first time in May, shortly after our only kitty passed away. We let Ashley know we wanted to adopt and that we were looking for a social cat who liked snuggles and followed her humans around. She suggested a few that she felt would be a good fit before we went in so we could spend some time with each of them. We met all the kitties she suggested, but one (Maryland) really stood out, jumped out actually! Right onto my husband's shoulders. She was so snuggly and instantly our favorite. We let Ashley know we loved her when we left and she invited us back for another visit to make sure there was a connection. She also let us know that Maryland had been getting harassed by an alpha-male cat and had been spraying (strange for a female cat), assuming because of the bullying. She told us this to be full disclosure and we appreciated that, but it didn't change our minds. We came back the next day for another visit and Maryland was not social, hiding up on a ledge out of reach. Apparently she'd had a little spat with her harasser that morning, he was in quarantine but she was still nervous to come down. Some people may have changed their minds but that just really made us want to rescue her even more. Ashley did everything she could to fast-track the adoption and we were able to take her home the next day! Maryland went through her new home sniffing everything and must have smelled our previous kitty, she peed on a blanket that she always slept on. But after she realized no other cats were there and she was safe she settled in so fast! We only ever had that 1 peeing incident. 5 months later, we are so happy she chose us because she is just the best cat ever! We re-named her Mary-Jane, but like any cat she only responds if she feels like it. She's so snuggly, loves being carried around or climbing onto your shoulders for a ride, and exactly what we needed to heal from the loss of our previous kitty. We are so thankful to Ashley and all the staff at Catelowna for everything they do for these little fur babies, they made a perfect match

Loved it so much. All the cats seemed so happy and all of them were so sweet, sitting on our laps and purring- never been to such a nice and spacious cat cafe! The coffee tasted great and there was lots of delicious in house treats and food to purchase. I only wish there was another sink to wash hands, but thats a given. Highly reccomend!!!

CATELOWNA CAT CAFE IS THE WORST, if your looking to adopt!!! We went there serval times to connect to the right cat for us. Spoke to the owner serval times and let her now we are looking to adopt. Finally pick a cat and it was through a different agency. The Agency declined our applications stating we are too emotionally and financially unprepared to adopt a cat. Despite already owning one for serval years at this point. We ask the owner if she could reach out for us. She flat out rejected, saying she didn't know us. Even though we met with her serval times and correspond through text and email as well. We eventually ended up adopting through OHS (Okanagan Humane Society) Was able to do the whole process and take home our new cat the same day. The cats now have their own bedroom. I obviously recommend OHS or anywhere but Catelowna Cafe for adopting. Also here's a photo of our new cat

The snacks? Amazing. You want a cold or warm beverage? Incredible! The staff? Out of this world. They are the kindest. Thank you Karlie and Ashley for being such pillars of a place that inspires community. We’ve been regular customers for over a year since we moved to Kelowna. We also were fortunate enough to have adopted two incredibly sweet girlies from Catelowna! Catelowna makes sure that these kitties are loved until they find a forever home. And they take extra care in finding that home. Incredible place with incredible people. Thank you for our Butterball (Now Toast), And Lady, our sweet girls.

⸻ ✨🐾 Just had the purr-fect afternoon at CATELOWNA Cat Café on Ellis Street, and my heart is still smiling! 🐾✨ If you haven’t been, you are truly missing out on one of Kelowna’s sweetest treasures. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm, cozy vibe of a café filled with love—and the most amazing kitties ready to curl their way into your heart. 🐱💖 The café itself is a delight—delicious vegetarian and vegan sandwiches, fresh baked desserts that melt in your mouth, and a menu that makes you feel as good as it tastes. 🌱🍰 The space is welcoming, peaceful, and filled with laughter, purrs, and the kind of joy only cats can bring. And the gift shop? Oh my goodness… shelves full of the cutest kitty-themed merchandise you can imagine. 🛍️🐾 You’ll want to take a little piece of this magical place home with you. But the real magic is in the cats themselves. Watching them play, stretch out in the sunbeams, or snuggle close—it’s therapy for the soul. Whether you’re a lifelong cat lover or just someone in need of a little extra comfort, this place will fill your heart in the gentlest, sweetest way. 💕 CATELOWNA Cat Café isn’t just a café—it’s a sanctuary of kindness, compassion, and second chances. By visiting, you’re not only treating yourself to an unforgettable experience, you’re also supporting the care and future of these beautiful kitties. So if you’re looking for a lovely way to spend an afternoon—come for the coffee, stay for the cuddles, and leave with a heart full of purrs. 🐾☕💖 👉 Please, friends, go check them out and support this wonderful little haven. You won’t regret it. Your soul (and the kitties) will thank you.

The deserts were great. The only thing I wish they had a place for you to put your food as soon as you walk in to where the cats are. Because they require you to wash your hands but there's no shelf there. But they do have a cafe area free of cats where you can finish your food first.

My husband and I visited Catelowna last week while we were in Kelowna and we can’t say enough good things about it! The staff were incredibly attentive and kind and the space that houses all of the adoptable kitties is so well set up. The cats have so many places to snuggle up, run around or to sneak away for some downtime away from visitors. There are tons of spots to sit and relax and there was never a time that we didn’t have a cat/cats on our laps. There’s even an active fish tank for the cats to stare at. Everywhere we looked there was a basket lined with a blanket with a sleeping kitten in it. The staff clearly love their jobs and knew so much about all of the cats currently in their care. The space was incredibly clean and they were actively cleaning windows and bedding while we were there even though nothing looked like it was in need of cleaning. We joked that if we were cats we wouldn’t want to be adopted if we were at this cat cafe because it’s such a wonderful space with so much love from staff. We were blown away by how fantastic and welcoming this cat cafe was and will absolutely be back when we come to Kelowna again.

Amazing service and atmosphere! The staff are super friendly and welcoming. My kids had such a great time here and absolutely loved meeting and playing with the cats — there are around 32 of them, each with their own personality. Such a fun and relaxing place for the whole family. Highly recommend Catolowna Cat Café for both kids and cat lovers! 🐾☕

We were excited to visit the cat café as a family of six (grandma, myself, my husband, and our three kids ages 11, 9, and 2). We didn’t have reservations but were accommodated as walk-ins, which we appreciated. The entrance fee was fair, and our visit was really for our older kids to enjoy.

Unfortunately, I can only give this place 3 stars due to the unprofessional comment made during the “house rules” briefing. My 2-year-old was understandably making noise in the small space, so I took her out of respect for the other guests. As I was walking away, the staff chose that moment to say, “And this is why we don’t let kids under 5 in.” This wasn’t a lighthearted—it was directed at my toddler in front of strangers, and it came across as making a joke at our expense. It was unnecessary, unkind, and left a lasting negative impression.

Looking through other reviews, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated incident. Too many people have commented on staff attitude for it to just be “the customers’ fault.” When multiple guests who don’t know each other all report the same kind of experience, that’s not coincidence—it’s a pattern.

A business built around hospitality and joy should never make paying customers feel embarrassed or singled out. That’s exactly what happened here.
