Felt run down, food and coffee were just okay nothing special. Staff was very friendly.
The food was terrible. Bread dry
, no mayo and so skimpy on the cranberry sauce. Croissant was heated with a sandwich press which is a gross thing to do to a croissant.

I love this place but this day a friend & I went for lunch. I had the chicken sandwich & it was absolutely tasteless. The sourdough bread was dry & there was no butter or mayo on the bread. The tiniest bit of cranberry & mustard was there but nothing else to make the sandwich more moist. The sandwich was piled so high with lettuce & peppers that I could not even bite into it without everything falling out. It was a very disappointing lunch. Will not have a sandwich there again even though I love going there for the atmosphere.

The quaint and alluring atmosphere is inviting and reminiscent of grandma's kitchen. Various smells of fresh coffee and spices tantalize your senses as a smiling, pleasant worker greets you.
Don't let the charm fool you, the food gets one star because I can't go lower. The breakfast burrito is absolutley vile! Odd, gritty texture of bright yellow eggs, powdered? Boxed? No idea but have never had eggs like that! Soggy peppers strewn throughout the bland stringy cheese mass. Not tasty or pleasant. Thank the food God for sour cream and salsa to mask the gritty pasty-ness.
They've done everything right except prepare delicious food! Good bye is too good of word, I'll just say fare the well.

Came here for a quick matcha. Not my usual store but thought my friend and I should try something new. Cafe was mildly busy and we ordered ahead of the rush, but those who had ordered after us got their drinks first. After 12 minutes of waiting the matcha was low quality at best and frankly tasted like dirt (saying this because I am a barista myself). They told us they were training but were making drinks after ours ahead of us because we guessed they were easier — just poor service. I had asked for oat milk and then watched the barista top both drinks off with dairy milk. When asking her is she was sure mine was oat she gave attitude and said “ya i wrote it”.

We recently went here for breakfast and the food and drinks were great but the service was sub par.
For the price of the breakfast($40+) we had to set the table ourselves, go back in for our drinks even though the server walked out almost to our table to tell us they were ready. Then clear our table. This is fine but you're prompted for a tip upfront and if we had known your basically a new hire. I wouldn't have tipped as much.
Don't skip this place because the food is good, but just be aware and this is the problem with tipping culture.

The food is excellent, but the tables and chairs weren't washed and were sticky. Also, heavy metal music was played during what was supposed to be a relaxing time. It was noisy and totally inappropriate. Most of the people there, when we were there, were in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

We stumbled across the charming cafe as a tourist and, not long after, ended up moving to Kelowna within walking distance of The Marmalade Cat Cafe. Was the coffee shop a factor in our real estate decision? It certainly didn't hurt! We now walk here at least once a week for a coffee, a NYT crossword, and the mutual satisfaction of having made a positive change in our life. Get the 10 coffee punch card! You'll want to come back. :)
