Don't like to be negative. It's a nice restaurant but also end of season so not much selection. We ordered the onion soup which was mediocre.. beef broth didn't have much taste and there were too many bread cubes and not enough soup.. anyway not the best . The lunch menu looked much better
We both had the duck/rigatoni and we were really impressed with the dish. A real nice mix of shredded duck within the dish which included small onions/leeks and pasta cooked perfectly topped with lots of parm. Really tasty. Our server, Nick, was great. He knew it was our anniversary from the on-line booking and asked if we would like a little complimentary bubbly to start. As he is a sommelier, he described the bubbly and its detail upon delivery. The menu isn't too elaborate but there certainly were enough choices for us. We've often had the Woods burger which is always good but we were both happy we tried something new. The room(s) can be noisy so I wouldn't expect a quiet romantic dinner out but the restaurant has a warm vibe befitting the ski hill backdrop. We go to the Woods in the summer after a hike and during a ski week and it never disappoints.
Very good meal. Generous portions. Simple, practical menus, with good local wines. A go to if you are looking for a nice meal af Big White.
The Woods had great service and good. The menu could use a few more choices. They accommodated my food allergy which was very good. Coke products only no Pepsi. Good beer and wine selection The noise level was not too loud for a place that became very busy by 7p.m. Recommend making a reservation.
Starters were good, unfortunately the main meal was very poor. The portion size of the cod was very small, what should have been the main feature of the meal looked more like a side piece. Ordered the special from the grill and was very disappointed to receive cold peas on the plate. Overall not a great experience and definitely not good value for money. Went for the special option as they had run out of the pork chop. The service was good but marred by the quality of the food.
Food selection and quality was excellent. Our server was fast and attentive. Highly recommend
Our first time in big white, decided to go to the woods for dinner based on a recommendation from a friend. The food was outstanding. Very delicious and great portion sizes. The only downside was the service. Our waitress had a couple other table who looked like they were a little more fancy than us. She treated them way better than us. She never looked us in the eye and wasn't even going to take our drink order. We felt like we were a huge burden on her. Would go back again for the food, but would pray we got a different waitress.
This has been one of our top spots to eat at Big White. The food is really high quality and well priced and service has been efficient and friendly. The outlook onto the village is lovely. A very cosy atmosphere.
We had a great evening; celebrating my husband"s birthday with friends. The room is comfortable with a blazing fire and cozy ambiance. The server we had was so pleasant, though too busy to offer more than just a rushed interaction. I had a salmon plate that was nicely cooked, not overdone or dry. We will go back again, although this time I'd opt to keep my coat with me.
We liked this restaurant, warm and inviting. We were there as two parents, three older teens/ young adults, one vegetarian. My suggestion is to maybe not have two pork dishes in a pretty small menu, and the eggplant Parmesan as only vegetarian entree felt a bit inaccessible early January! Between rabbit, pork, duck pasta, would have loved just one upscale really homey dish like lentil shepherd pie, a chicken pot pie, an ‘easy' one.... You can't do everything and absolutely filling a niche on the mountain, but that one super accessible dish for variety of eaters, would have made this perfect for us and easy to get everyone back in the future...Loved the Brussels sprouts, pork chop excellent, found the bar a bit slow, but just a small thing, and this was a nice meal in a tough business...

Great ambience and service. Check the menu before you go as the selection is getting a bit more eclectic.
The Woods was an exceptional choice for our first evening at Big White Resort. The atmosphere of the entire village was festive. We found parking to be manageable within the village. The energy for the tavern was filled with fun and joy. The table enjoyed the starter of scallops. We ended up on a high-top in the bar area for the evening. We enjoyed mingling with those around us. I highly recommend this as a stop for one evening while on the mountain. Sarah Caledonia-Nicol (Maui)
The entire experience was magical. Food was delicious and the team was amazing. Shoutout to Ruby, Nick and Corrine!
Great setting, food is great, staff are friendly and not just attentive when it comes to the bill, like so many other places, that and the cocktails are a great start to an evening meal.
The Woods is back! Very nice spot to have dinner with some friends. Ambience and food are great. Menu is a nice variety.
