Very cute winery - 4 wines with our tasting (a sparkling white, a Chardonnay, and two reds). All were really nice.

Also shared some yummy chicken pepperoni…(pork-free, as one guest in our party doesn’t eat pork)… from an Okanagan-based business.

Charcuterie boxes available (very limited quantities but they all contained pork, unfortunately). They looked AMAZING though, and reasonably priced.

Moon, the tasting guide, was very friendly and told some wonderful anecdotes about the wines and the vineyard.

All in all, a great experience. We would highly recommend a visit to Hugging Tree.

After several moves and a lengthy career with the RCMP Walter and Cristine Makepeace settled in the stunning Similkameen valley. They purchased an organic apple and peach orchard near Cawston in 2005 and after 9 years of hard work transformed it into the family owned Hugging Tree Winery.

Son and winemaker Bradley (inspired by his time as a bartender in fine dining restaurants in Whistler) pursued his dream of wine making via Okanagan College Viticulture and Winemaking program to create the small lot craft wines many enjoy.

Roll forward to 2019, the family decided to sell the previous lot for 2 beautiful small lots which feature warmer micro-terroirs that could offer a broader portfolio. Bordelaise varietals, Viognier and Syrah are the focus.

Quaint country side atmosphere with an incredible valley and mountain backdrop and delicious wines really make this a Similkameen gem!

Great to speak with Bradley and see his passion for wine and giving guests an authentic experience! 😎🍷🥂🍇⛰

We were fortunate enough to have our taste poured by Brad, whose knowledge about the intricacies of wine is impressive. Brad's passion for their work ensures that every visit is both informative and enjoyable. Their warm and attentive approach makes guests feel right at home.
In short, this beautiful winery stands out as a top visit for us. We both enjoyed each wine and were particularly delighted by the strawberry jam we purchased, which complemented the wines perfectly. We look forward to seeing this delectable jam included on their website one day!
This winery truly epitomizes what it means to craft wine with love and respect for the land, making it a must-visit destination for any wine enthusiast.

Lovely way to begin our 2025 South Okanagan wine tour.
All wineries were severely impacted by 2024 frosts so we are interested in hearing how they are recovering.
If Hugging Tree is any indication, OK wine families are resilient.
We enjoyed the visit and tasted some very pleasant wines.

This was my third time visiting Hugging Tree and as always, it was a lovely experience, from the beautiful patio views to the informative tasting. The charcuterie was also amazing!! Thanks so much Tara and Brad!

Ge-wel-dig.

Great wine and a lovely setting, thank you for fitting us in for a walk-in tasting. We ended up buying two bottles even though we were travelling on a budget because it was so good.

Had a wonderful time last Thursday at a wine tasting and retirement party at your winery. Sipping your wines on the patio afterward made for a fantastic day and celebration! We also want to say a special thanks to Bradley, the winemaker, who came to wish a happy retirement and very generously gifted us with some special wine! Thank you for a great time!Grant and Brenda et al

Their name says it all "Hugging Tree", warmth and compassion, beauty in a glass. Such a nice and relaxing experience to sit on their deck and taste their wine. Thanks!
