This place needs an update in all ways but it is a decent lunch spot.

I think a little revival would give them an edge to have more customers, it was empty when we went in.

Fish was high quality, despite thinner cuts for sashimi. Rolls were decent.

Server was kind and attentive.

Kaede Sushi & Grill – A Hidden Gem in Ladysmith

Kaede Sushi & Grill is a fantastic spot for sushi lovers in Ladysmith, delivering fresh, high-quality Japanese cuisine in a cozy and welcoming setting. The service is warm and attentive, making it a great place for both casual dining and special occasions.

One of the highlights of my visit was their deep-fried sushi rolls, which were absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside with a perfect balance of textures, each bite was flavorful without being overly greasy. The tempura batter was light, allowing the fresh ingredients inside to shine. If you’re a fan of deep-fried rolls, I highly recommend trying their tempura dynamite roll or any of their specialty deep-fried creations.

Beyond the sushi, the ingredients are noticeably fresh, and the presentation is beautiful. The flavors are well-balanced, and you can tell the chefs take pride in their craft. Whether you’re looking for classic nigiri, sashimi, or something unique, Kaede delivers.

The only downside is that they can get quite busy during peak hours, so I’d recommend making a reservation or arriving early. Overall, Kaede Sushi & Grill is a must-visit if you’re in Ladysmith and craving top-notch sushi—especially if you love deep-fried rolls done right!

Delicious sushi! We had the veggie roll combo and loved the mango in the veggie roll! The agedashi tofu, gyoza and California roll were also very tasty. Our server was friendly and welcoming. Overall, a perfect (and easy to get to off the highway) dinner stop!

Awesome sushi- we eat a lot of sushi and this was really fresh with delicious sushi and rice. Great quick stop on the way up island. Definitely come here more often on our way up or down island.

Charming place, loved the food. If you come late, there’s not too many things to eat. Otherwise amazing.

Only 1 server and 1 cook on a Friday night! The service was perfunctory, the food greasy and the tables sticky. Not impressed at all. The forecourt was sadly neglected, and absolutely no cultural atmosphere. Very disappointing.
