I called to make reservations and left a phone # and a message to what table we were hoping to reserve. I called back at 12:30pm and the man that answered the phone said we can not make reservations as this is a busy lunch hour time, I asked him 3 times and expressed I have been coming to Sushi Wara for 4 years and always made reservations he said no, I hung up.

Same day I went into Sushi Wara and the table I wanted was reserved NOT for me however it was the busy lunch hour. THe service today was horrible. the girl did not understand I wanted new chopsticks as mine dropped on the ground. THe man I spoke with on the phone denied making the statement you can not make reservations. WHich clearly was a lie as there was the table I asked for 2 times ( I left a phone message and I called again as they choose not to call me back after my message). I have been going to this restaurant for 4 years. I have brought many people here to try it. The dragon roll was so dry today it fell apart. THe Yam was burnt. I will not be going back nor will i suggest this restaurant to friends. I would travel from Victoria to come here . NOT anymore--- I am very sad . 🥲.

I go here every Friday, the staff are delightful and the food even more so. I’m writing this review to commemorate the fact that I’m now a usual!!! As soon as I sat down they asked if I’d have my usual, which is a delicious chicken udon soup. I look forward to my udon trip every Friday, and I can’t recommend this place enough.

Driving down Island today, plenty of places to stop but focussed on making it here. The service here is fantastic and I love how they make their Yam rolls! Fancy and well priced. I look forward to a visit when ever I'm on the Island. Looking at the dishes at other tables, there's plenty of good choices! P.S. the tea and miso soup are also good!

The business is doing really well. It’s the best quality Japanese restaurant in this area.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the second time I’ve had an awful experience. I don’t even know why I gave it a second try a few years later. When they first opened they were amazing. Over the years it’s just DOWNHILL. The guy who took my order even had the audacity to call me back and say “he spoke to his boss and what I said on the phone about there poor service was very rude.”

So many things I could write about. The one that bugs me the most. When I ordered, I asked for a substitute. I asked kindly for a veggie sunomono with my dinner box, instead of an ebi. Which comes with the shrimp. So basically something cheaper and less ingredients. (Easier to make)

Was told they couldn’t do any substitutes because it was dinner and it was ‘simply too busy’

Uhm… not to mention going into the restaurant itself. They need a surprise inspection. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of more cases of food poisoning from there. And I’ve heard of quite a few. You can even see them keeping chemicals / cleaning supplies by the food product. Not sure if any one of them even have food safe .

Bottom line. Avoid this place. If you want sushi try ANYWHERE else but this location. You’ll thank me you saved your time and money.

Went here for our 3rd anniversary... first time ever being able to go out to eat without kids. I must say this far exceeded my expectations, which was already high.

The food was fast and delicious. We will be back again. Thank you!

I ordered the salmon Teriyaki dish and I initially thought it was pricey at $26 but then my husband said we had just bought salmon at the grocery store (2 pieces for $20). The dinner came with a large amount of salmon, rice and miso soup, so in retrospect - you could hardly cook this dinner at home for that price. And besides that, it was absolutely delicious.
We also ordered a green salad at $14, it was huge and had avocado and beets along with a tasty dressing. The sushi rolls were extremely fresh. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
