Lovely cafe in Fort Langley. We were here for breakfast and it was good. There was a mixup in the order and we were charged twice for a dish but the team noticed it and informed us about it (we didn't notice it because we were so busy catching up with our friends). We really appreciated that.
Food was good and portions were quite big so a friend and I shared a portion which was perfect.

Wendal’s Bookstore & Cafe is a charming, welcoming spot that blends good food with a love for books. The menu offers delicious options, the coffee is consistently great, and the cozy ambience makes it a perfect place to unwind, read, or enjoy a quiet meal. I personally recommend their banana bread it's moist and sweet.

I ordered two caramel frappes and a cookie, and when I came to pick them up, I found a long hair in my drink from the employee who made it. When I asked for a new one, she simply removed the hair and tried to hand the drink back to me. I insisted on a replacement, and she responded with attitude, throwing her hands up & saying “you really want me to make u another one?”, acting annoyed and then laughing with the other workers behind the counter. This isn’t the first negative experience I’ve had with her, either. My family and I used to come here often, but after this, we won’t be returning. And I will be writing this in every other place possible. Disgusting behaviour from an adult at an establishment where their job is to serve clean food and drinks to people.

We ordered a pumpkin spice scone and found a hair in the food. We informed the server, and she apologized and offered either a refund or a replacement(we refuse refund). She brought the refund and also gave us another pumpkin spice scone as a replacement. Unfortunately, we found a hair in the second one as well. I recorded a video of it, but I couldn’t upload the video in the review section, so I uploaded screenshots instead.

I think they're much friendlier to the locals, so I'll assume the lack of smiles and jovial greeting is that and not because every time I'm here I'm the only coloured person. The food is mid and the flavors are basic. Maybe it's cause there are Korean cafes killing the eggs benny and brunch game with actual flavour. Also the bookstore the lady is not pleasant, again it's the attitude from no greeting upon seeing me to no smile when buying. I don't think it's ridiculous to ask that front facing employees be acknowledge all all customers and be inviting especially in such a small space like this.

Wendel's used to be good but there are much better options now.

Food: we had some dessert, a hot chocolate, mocha, tea and americano, all were really good and reasonably affordable, lots of non dairy options and some gf options, nice there is the typical cafe snacks but also meals

Service: they were extremely busy, so understandable that it is stressful for staff, but that meant food and drink took a very very long time, using the online ordering from the outdoor tables was a really nice idea, but could be more user friendly, and despite putting our table number in comment section, most of our food never got brought to us, kind of defeated the purpose, otherwise when staff were available they were kind!

Atmosphere: on a weekend it is bustling, especially in fall/winter. On the corner of the block it’s a great location for people watching, very Christmas and cozy! There are heaters outside as well which makes it comfortable, small bookstore but cozy!

Surprisingly bland food and absolutely not worth the cost. Ordered the avocado benny and instead of toasted it seemed like the english muffins had been fried? But the issue was the bottoms were practically rock hard. The potatoes were also tough and rubbery, didn't seem fresh or like they'd been overcooked and microwaved, they were so unpleasant.

I can't think of when I've had such bland food overall, it was so disappointing. No flavour and no salt and pepper on the table at the very least to try and bring some life to it. Despite how busy it was it gave the impression that this place is pure hype or the chef is gone.

The other in my party tried the waffles which also lacked in flavour and was tough. There was so much whipped cream piled on top as if to compensate, but it just made it more of a chore to eat if you aren't someone who wants to only eat whipped cream.

It is a nice environment and we were drawn to it for having the combined book store, the service was fine but the food makes us not want to come back even if this was an off day. I'd rather try somewhere else after a long drive to Fort Langley than risk something like this again.

Cozy place to grab a hot coffee on a cold and rainy evening. I had a decaf latte and a peanut butter cookie. Both tasted great.

Usualy really crowded and hard to find a seat. Desserts are very good but food is just ok. Prices are very expensive. A meal for me and my wife was $80 for two sandwiches 2 cans of coke. A soup and two tarts.... and they were very underwhelming.
