For a place that’s $350+ on average per night, the least they could do is provide reassurance and service during a power outage. No communication or updates from the staff. No emergency phone line provided.
Had friends staying in the same area where the owners brought in waters and flashlights immediately and told them not to worry.
The bathroom area is cramped and dirty, shower curtain keeps touching your skin as you can barely move around to get clean. There is one fan. There is a hole in the front door letting in mosquitoes, no blinds provided for the main window, torn cloth blind hanging in the bathroom reminiscent of haunted houses, a dent in the sofa bed provided so you can’t sleep well.
There should be partial refund/compensation as the space and service do not reflect the price.
We stayed at the marina. It took 3 calls on the radio before we got a response. No one came to help us with lines, or to direct exactly where we were supposed to tie up. No attendant at the gas bar, and no one in the reception/office/store. Just a sign to say they were out on the property and will return. Not a well run marina in my opinion.
Good place to stay, some upgrades would be great, but rather than that we enjoyed our stay
We moored here two nights. Engaged friendly service, pub with great food, Luc was very helpful on the gas dock, and their partner tour operator, Sunshine Coast tours, did a great one day trip from marina to Princess Louisa sound. It’s a great stop if you’re in the area.
My partner and I had an incredible stay in one of the charming small vintage cabins at Backeddy Resort! 😊 The cabin was perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway and we loved using the fireplace. The views were gorgeous to wake up to, and we were lucky enough to spot seals swimming in the water and eagles flying above us.
The pub became our favourite evening hangout spot - the atmosphere was so welcoming and the live music made for such memorable nights. Foods and drinks were delicious :)) We also booked the night time bioluminescence kayak tour through Metta Eco Experiences on the premise which was absolutely magical and definitely worth every penny! 🙏
This place offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. The drive up the Sunshine Coast was scenic, and Backeddy Resort made for an unforgettable escape from the city.
Great place to stay, bring your boat and enjoy the pub!
We had a lovely stay this long weekend at Backeddy Resort! We stayed in one of the Inn Room - nothing overly special but it did the trick. The biggest draw to this place is absolutely the location - right on the water, beautiful quiet space, fantastic pub on the property, & close to popular hikes!
Every single staff we interacted with was so lovely, it really added to the relaxing and fun experience! We were gifted a gorgeous bottle of wine as we were there for our anniversary which was so sweet! There were 2 girls working the pub for the 3 nights we were there, and they were fantastic!!! The food there was also sooooo good, we did dinner 3 nights in a row as there isn’t really much else to eat nearby. The Inn rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave.
The Inn room was basic - a few minor upgrades would be nice, but nothing majorly wrong. The beds were comfortable, a bit on the firmer side. Some pillows were very flat and lumpy, but 1 was great (to my liking at least). Some minor things that we noticed that others might wish to know (but didn’t really bother us):
- The bathroom fan was super nosy and rattly so couldn’t leave it on for long
- only one coat hanger in the space (bathroom) made it difficult to dry jackets
- there is a light right outside of the window/bed that you can’t turn off, so the room was still bright even with the blinds and curtains closed. We threw a blanket over the top where all the light was getting through and this made the room pitch black haha
- the Inn rooms are right at the pub parking lot, so it can be a bit noisy with vehicles coming/going on the gravel. We had a little sound machine playing to block out some of the noise.
I would absolutely come back to this resort and recommend it to others! I think I would just stay in a different area (maybe a private cabin) to have a bit of a different layout and to be further away from the parking lot :)
Rooms: Lots of options for rooms depending on need and budget!
Nearby activities: Popular Skookumchuk rapids hike nearby, as well as a bakery that you have to hike a few minutes to get to!
Safety: felt very safe - need to be bear/cougar aware at all times. If going for a hike, would recommend bringing bear spray.
Food and drinks: Pub on site is FANTASTIC!! Live music on Saturdays, food/drink deals other days of the week - we had 2 for 1 fish and chips on Sunday which was incredible!! Limited food options elsewhere.

Lovely spot, couldn't justify the cost of their beer though.

Great place for a getaway. It's pretty far away from the nearest major town (Sechelt), so if you're looking for time that's truly quiet this is it. The cabins are nice, expect some bugs since it's surrounded by woods and water. Lovely lovely view of the inlet, you'll see friendly seals pop up to investigate every now and then. Pitch dark at night (+++) and very very quiet, with a noise ban after 10pm.
Rooms: Moderately sized waterfront cabins. King sized bed, microwave, fridge, shower and toilet, and a fireplace. Nice deck for each cabin with firewood and chairs, overlooking the water.
Nearby activities: Sunshine coast tours and Metta Eco Experiences both launch from Backeddy and are both AMAZING.

Stayed in a vintage cabin. Wow, I felt like a pioneer. It was a feeling of nostalgia/taking a step back in time. Had such a good sleep, cosy cabin , on the ocean. Thanks Backeddy staff for making us feel so welcome. Loved the live music in the pub. Oh yes and the food is tasty, fresh and well presented. We'll be back.

Very good and price was great.
Be aware, we had an unfortunate experience; on the road they had a sign saying kitchen open until 9 pm. Just to be sure I called and recording send open until 9pm. So we made the hike , We got there at 8:05 and were told sorry kitchen closed. No apologies. Also told manager quit so just be aware. A party of 6 next to us got their meals delivered at 8:20; at 8:30 server came out asking everyone to hurry “because they were closing”. This is at the pub ; have had good service here before but clearly things aren’t right.
