If you are on Mayne Island you have to check out The Montrose Local. The menu is so varied and the food is very flavourful. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is fun. They have daily specials and fun events like movie nights. I loved the tofu bowl and the Lebanese inspired roasted chicken with couscous and veggies. This is my favourite restaurant!!

We ordered the grilled cheese special, BBQ chicken and Provolone, but due to allergies we couldn’t have the BBQ chicken. They offered unseasoned chicken instead, which we said yes to. Very much appreciated that they were willing to accommodate us.
However, when we got the bill we were charged extra for the chicken, on top of the regular sandwich price that included chicken. They didn’t tell us it would be an extra cost.
The waitress was great, very nice and patient, but we’ll never go back.

The food was amazing. Ordered the wonton soup, souvlaki bowl and jerk chicken bowl. Each and every item was par excellent. The lone young lady serving us was cheerful, polite and had a 1000 watt smile. There is a coffee shop just outside - a not to be missed place to have coffee. Best coffee I ever had.

Came here for dinner with my wife, parents, and two little ones - and it was so good we had to come back for lunch the next day! I had the Jerk Chicken bowl - very spicy, but delicious; and then the wonton soup for lunch the next day - absolutely unreal. The chai is also out of this world! Will definitely be back next time we’re on Mayne. So happy to see a new place on the island so busy and full of life!

This restaurant came recommended and lived up to the hype. Such a thoughtful and varied menu. The food was generously portioned, fresh and oh so tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. Thoughtful little touches like a well stocked washroom, candies at the checkout and even though there is a break between 2:00-5:00pm, we sat and finished our food well past 2:00 and were left alone to enjoy and savour. I can’t wait to go back!!

Menu is eclectic and the food is delicious. The butter chicken poutine and cheesey smashed potatoes were amazing. Service was great! Portions are huge and the games were a great way to while away a rainy day.

This little wonder located on Mayne Island was an amazing find. The staff were super friendly, the atmosphere was very relaxed and family friendly. We enjoyed playing the card game on the table, it created a great conversation and contributed to our wonderful experience. The food came out quickly, even though they were busy due to the Fall Fair. The food. Wow, I’m still thinking about it. The Greek dishes were amazing, there was so many flavours and they all came together beautifully. I would highly recommend dining here if you ever find yourself on Mayne Island.
Visited this local gem while we were on a trip to Mayne Island. It’s got a casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor tables are on a grassy area that is pet friendly. We went at dinner time and were seated quite quickly. It took awhile to get menus so I ended up going inside to ask for them. After getting our drinks, we decided to order the fried cauliflower bites, the La Galbi short ribs and taco bowl. The cauliflower was fried perfectly and came with a choice of 2 dipping sauces. My short ribs were tender and flavourful but on the saltier side. My partner said his taco bowl was good. Would come back again when we were on Mayne Island.

We enjoyed the Chef's Tasting menu and it was spectacular! Every dish was flavourful and so well presented. The pace of our meal was leisurely and perfectly not rushed. This is a dining experience that now lives in our top food experiences! Thank you for a great evening ?

Amazing experience with wonderful food. We ended up coming 3 time in a two day trip to the island. By the second time we came the staff had already remembered us. Unfortunately they had ran out of cookies already so the staff saved us a couple for when we came back a third time. 10/10 would recommend

Absolutely wonderful! We came by this little gem just before 2 pm. We were told by staff that the kitchen stopped cooking at 2. However, she would place our order. She recommended a refreshing cucumber lemongrass cocktail that was so refreshing on a warm day. My family members ordered their grilled cheese special that had bacon and fig that they couldn't stop raving about. They had I door and outdoor seating, which is great. I would highly recommend this place for a flavourful bite to eat if you can. I wish we had returned for their dinner menu as it looked fantastic.
