I had lunch at The Montrose Local while visiting the island today and sat in the charming outside area with its eclectic mix of furniture. The server was very kind and joyful and brought everything I needed. The kitchen was gracious about substitutions and additions with no extra charge. I had the taco crunch wrap with the smashed potatoes as a side and the food was delicious and filling. Definitely recommend and would visit again!

If you're ever on Mayne, the Montrose Local is a must try. The food was so incredible we will definitely be coming back in the future to get another taste! The staff are super lovely and friendly, lunch here has been such a bright on our trip.

Recently stayed on Mayne for a few days and had dinner here one evening. It was delicious!! We had the falafels as an appy - I did not know falafels could taste that good! I had a tofu bowl and my partner had a poke bowl and we loved them. Their special rice that the bowls are served over is SO GOOD. We had been in the gift shops earlier in the day and had fantastic service in one... and when we went for dinner our server was the same gal who helped us at the shop earlier in the day. She was FANTASTIC! Lovely little place, lots of cool art on the walls, books to look at, puzzles to do if you want, indoor and outdoor seating. One of the best meals we have had out in quite a while, we hope to be able to visit again!

Food was just okay. We got there at 12:30pm, placed our order right away, but didn’t get our food until 2:00pm (literally when they were closing!). The place wasn’t even that busy, and when the food finally came it wasn’t even hot. Honestly, the dishes looked like they were just quickly assembled and didn’t need much cooking, which made the super long wait even more frustrating. On top of that, the portions were small and definitely overpriced for what we got. We had the falafel pita, jerk chicken rice bowl, pakoras, and salad + soup. Ended up spending way more time waiting than actually eating.
Giving one star because our server was very nice, but we will DEFINITELY not be coming back.

My wife and I found this place on a weekend getting away and we're pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the staff was quick and friendly. Its definitely worth a visit.
If you know what time your heading there , it might be a good idea to make a reservation.
This was our first time as it is also our first time to Mayne Island! The young man that greeted us at the door was pleasant, warm and friendly. I have the chicken shouvlaki pita wrap. The chicken was flavorful and tender and just the right amount of vegetables and tzatziki made it suburb! My friend had the pickled tofu Burger. Unfortunately we are both so hungry that I forgot to take pictures. Stay tuned. I will get some pictures of this amazing restaurant.

Genuinely blown away by the food here. We got the souvlaki wrap with smashed potatoes and the burger with a ceasar salad and everything hit. Cooked to perfection, a wonderful balance of flavours, and the ambience and service were top notch. Will definitely come back anytime we are visiting on Mayne!
