“That cronut!! Wow. Pizza was quite good. Ordered an oat milk misto, not really any foam :( but, it was still really tasty. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and efficient.”
“I really can't fault them for anything. The Brussels sprouts were excellent, already eaten in the photo. I was concerned the coleslaw with the fish and chips would be too sweet but it was really fresh tasting and savoury. View is gorgeous and staff were nice and friendly.”
“Great place.Jian’s sandwich’s are always excellent. The new benchmark for island service and food quality. Much more than just a bakery.. Particularly fond of the savoury scones, and miso cookies.. high quality bread, great crust and crumb. .”
“A lovely bright spot. Delightful bakery and coffee shop. Stopped for an afternoon break after arriving at Port Browning. It was only a short walk to get excellent coffee and pastries.”
“Love the beers and their quaint little tasting room. We came during the winter, but would love to see it during summer. Even better was that it was walking distance from our AirBnB that we were staying at.”
“Great food and reasonable prices. Staff were great too… reminded of Robbie Robertson in a weird Galinno Island sort of way. I’d order from here again without question. We had the house salad (good, real good!) and a half pulled pork/peanut satay curry veg pizza (also good, real good!).”
“I travel often to the Gulf Islands, and remember this Bakery Cafe from when I lived on Galiano and happy its still going strong! Indeed, it is the ONLY place to go for coffee first thing in the morning (like 7 am which means the bakers clock in at 5 am ) ) except for drip coffee at the Garage There is always a line up , waiting for the OPEN sign to light up Inside it is basic, countertop seating, but incredible color photos of resident pods of Orcas are attractively displayed The staff is always smiling and friendly. I love their delicious Turkey sandwiches (day old only $4.50)and fresh Pain au chocolat that tastes tres francais and uses real butter and delicious chocolate fresh baked every morning and by the time I buy two and two coffees and walk to my friend Andrews, they are still warm Thanks Sturdies Bay Bakery Cafe I love you all the time but especially on a cold rainy day at 7 am when NOTHING else is open!CHRISTINA FERRERO YOU TUBE ARTIST LISTEN TO DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER AND NANOOSE BAY LULLABYE ONLINE”
“Had a great breakfast this morn at this special café in the heart of Ganges. Chilaquiles and a deeeelicious (and quite pretty) latte. New owners José Barraza and family are working hard to diversify the menu con un sabor mexicano!”
“Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from!Dietary restrictions: Different milk options for coffee, and plenty of foods to choose from (GF, Vegan, Vegetarian, etc)Parking: Large gravel parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Grassy area with picnic benches, dogs and kids were playing.”
“One of the best nasi gorangs I’ve had! I travelled Bali for 6 weeks last year and this place knocks spots off any restaurant in Indonesia. Amazing flavours. Get the peanut butter sauce too it’s great!”
“Always busy, with good reason. Setup changed but still busy.Still an amazing place, especially if the weather is good….That very nearby (Swanson) creek needs a little TLC, time to adopt a creek?”
“We discovered Chef Jeremy’s food 6 months ago and have been weekly regulars ever since.. His Butter Chicken is incredible, the Pankora are crisp and spicy, nan bread is thin and moist. He grinds his own spices and every ingredient is fresh and local. On Valentines Day we ordered takeout Butter Chicken and it was the most flavorful we have ever eaten. He added Multiple dipping sauces, chopped vegetables, nan with a delicious dip and more. His repertoire is expansive so we asked for a french meal a few weeks ago. Fabulous ! We now order from him weekly and enjoy a gourmet meal at home for an unbelievable reasonable price. He is so enthusiastic about his food and a pleasure to deal with.Don’t miss this Saltspring Island treasure! “I've been a Basil's customer since moving to SSI from Vancouver 3 years ago and was eager to try all the food venues right away. Not much has stayed with me since but Basil's Pizza sure has. Have only ever tried the Margarita as I'm vegetarian but It's got pure ingredients and a very sophisticated, high quality, simplicity. Best pizza on the Island, as far as I'm concerned, and Vancouver, as well. I can't rate Basil's Pizza highly enough.”
“Scandinavian fine dining in Ganges. A beautiful spot in a house with wood framed windows. Beautiful tablecloths, linens, and table settings. The food matched. Delicious appetizers, mains (I really enjoyed the venison and my wife the sablefish). And I got my favourite—chocolate for dessert. Go and have a great meal.”
“Wow. I am not kidding when i say that I come here at least twice a week for the Veggie Eggs Benny. MMM. I can’t believe dagwoods Isn’t the busiest place ever being one of the only places on salt spring that have all day breakfast, that is not only delicious but very reasonably priced.Yea they could have some music playing instead of silence, but man I just can’t get enough of the Eggs Benny. It’s just so perfect and delicious. The hash browns are crispy on the outside but creamy inside, the eggs are always perfectly cooked, the vegetables are perfect, and the hollandaise is yummy and the perfect amount.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options”
“The coziest loveliest cafe I’ve been to! The owner and the barista are so nice and make sure you feel at home. All the bakery items are made by the owner’s wife and are the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend going here if you go to the island it’s a must visit.I’m an Indian and have had dosas all my life and their dosas are definitely one of the best I’ve had.Vegetarian options: Their dosa is vegetarian”
“Not sure of the name but we tried the $17 okonomiyaki from the first truck you see when you walk in! The guy who runs it doesn’t seem to speak much English but he was so friendly and kind. Every time I made eye contact with him he gave me such a kind soft smile and nodded at me how do you not fall in love with that.Usually I imagine okonomiyaki to look more pancake-like with a LOT of sauce which turns me off. My partner who tried this dish in Japan before also said this looked different from what he’s had, as it usually doesn’t involve noodles. And you don’t see many okonomiyaki places in Vancouver where we’re based so this was a unique treat. We had pizza from true love pizza first and I thought I was full but took a bite of this and finished half the plate ?. Personally would like a lil more umami but with a diversity of tasty cabbage, egg, noodles, juicy and tasty meat, green onions etc. it was still pretty dang good. Partner even said he preferred this over the ones he had in Japan haha. Take from that what you will.”
“We had a delicious meal at the cafe this morning! The food was sooo tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The prices were very reasonable. Service was great and the atmosphere is funky! Love visiting this restaurant whenever we get over to the island for a visit?”
“Anything that isn't poutine kinda sucks, not gonna lie. I had the Crispy Chicken sandwich, and it was not worth the price of admission. Tasted like a Jane's breaded chicken patty deep fried. The poutine, however? Pretty good! Highly recommend the poutine, their gravy and fries are amazing.Kid-friendliness: Not very friendly to small children, the park it's located in has a nasty wasp problem during the summer and fall.”
“Our visit to Wild Cider was perfect! The service was delightful; we had good little discussions throughout the evening (lagostinas, who knew?). The food was savory and hearty, perfect for a night blanketed in snow. The music was right up our alley and getting to pet some sweet puppers was a necessary little bonus. We had the full cider flight and it was the best way to compare them all, to taste the difference in each, and narrow it down to our favorites. I was surprised at how much I liked the bitter orange one, it ended up being in my top 2. Overall a truly lovely experience at Wild Cider. Thank you so much for such a great evening. ❤️”
“This food truck is run by the local high-school culinary class. They serve salads made almost entirely from their garden so you know the ingredients are top notch. They also offer a different sandwich and a soup each day. You must do the salad. You choose from a long list of ingredients including their own dressings. Try the soup or sandwich if you can as well. As a local we go there often and any guest we've taken remarks they will be coming back to the island for the salad! Only open over the summer! Check that it's open before you come.”
“Great take out fire oven pizza truck. Perfect when you arrive on the afternoon ferry and want to grab some dinner before heading to your vacation rental. Conveniently located near the Thrifty Foods so you can pop over to grab groceries while you wait. We sampled 4 pizzas and all of them we delicious.”
“Cute shop on Galiano with modern yet comfy atmosphere. Bathrooms very clean and there are 2!Menu has changed in this new location.Cyclist friendly as you can leave your bike outside and still see it. Nice patio.”
“Loved our evening at Pilgrimme. The food was delightful, well curated plates of hyper local flavors. We certainly did not leave hungry nor wanting. The service was fantastic and exactly as expected for a restaurant such as this. If you get the opportunity I would absolutely suggest going.”
“The cinnamon roll was so incredible we went back a couple of hours later for more (and ended up with several other treats instead)! The service was super friendly and the patio is dog-”
“Wonderful setting at the resort, interesting cuisine, and a very pleasant atmosphere. Great view. Staff was friendly and attentive without being in the way. Among the four of us, we pretty much covered all the sandwich options; everyone enjoyed their meals greatly. The Bison Burger, which I had, was lean and yet still juicy, and done just the way I asked for it. Great fries. Good wine. What's not to like?”
“Del Vecchio Pasta Fresca is a must destination when visiting Salt Spring Island for fresh pasta and pizza lovers. Owner and Chef Max creates delicious Italian favorites. We tried Ravioli filled with porcini mushrooms and the Margherita pizza... both were delicious and served with big smiles. This small place is worth a detour. "Forza Italia" and "complimenti" team Max.”
“Unpretentious, old-fashioned service, store-baked products, local family owned - a Saltspring Island gem that long-time Islanders love! What other service opens before sunrise?”
“Fun place to spend an afternoon enjoying a cold one or four. Good selection of beers with something for almost everyone. Nice location with seating scattered about throughout the forest and the parking lot for about 10 vehicles at the top of the drive.”
